Patch 15: Tutorial testing and many other things
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Wait will redeemabels be removed this patch as in tonight? Are you saying in the future like when the game goes live you will remove all this? Cause yoru going to have a lot of pissed off folks if you wipe all redeemables tonight other than xp. I still haven't redeemed half my ships cause I don't need all them right now like I did when I was playing on the other server and had to be all over the place and I'm about to head to work so I wasn't planing to redeem crap, but if I need to redeem them I need to log in and start doing and hope I have space for them. -

Might work a bit better if you put it in the suggestions than just the general discussions. -
I can see some one doing it with an alt, but you shouldn't be able to claim your own contracts and run them. The pawn cost should be a fraction of the goods price on market not the reward for delivering the goods. Though this would work with some type of reputation system too that if you pawn stuff you get bad trade rep (Pirates and such) but if you turn in the trade goods even if your not the one that pulled the mission you increase your trade rep. Trade rep allows you to go into ports like a smuggler flag for some nation if it's good standing. IF it's bad it doesn't matter flag or not you can't get your trade ship in that nations ports lol Why would I trade with some one that does nothing but sink ships from my nation? Like you said the basic concept is there just needs to be tweeked some and looked at more from the devs point of view. Never played Elite but it's been ages since I played Eve, how did it delivered goods? I think if I remember right it did something like my chest example?
-
There was a patch or saying a patch coming?
-
I'm pretty sure he means he puts contracts up and folks sale to him to dump goods fast. That was my understanding. Hell I like it when folks put contracts up that never filled in ports we owned in the past, that tax helps pay for the port fee. So I assume would be the same for any one else that owns ports some one might put up contracts in.

This would be an actual cool achievement they could add to steam later on. Along with if you have visited every port and other things. We really need to have things like that in the game. Gives you something to do other than just kill each other. Remember there are all types of players out there that enjoy stuff. Even if you got a special paint or title as the reward it would give folks added content to do in game. -

I think I had around 40 something on Dead In the Red pre wipe from patrolling the Gulf of Mexico with my Reno. I remember it was right before they brought in the first ship wreck treasure fleet event as he was all ready in that area when one popped and I didn't even go after ship wrecks just stayed out there hitting trade ships. Logged out and than back in and continue my patrol hunt along the Mexico/Texas coast. Use to catch AFK trade ships all the time over there on PvP2. -
One way to keep form exploiting them is to give a chest. It can be a NPC order or player order but you get a chest not the actual items. You take that chest (it weighs what the items would weigh) to the new port location and tern it in. You get paid. If a player has you deliver it they can than retrieve the chest and open it and it gives them their items/goods they wanted deliver. Now for the shady folks or if I attack the player running the Delivery missions. I can either turn the chest into the port it's suppose to be taken to and get the same reward as original player or I can pawn it at a port and get a fraction of it's value. Thus giving an option if some one doesn't want to risk taking the delivery into hostile waters.

@Privateer isn’t this the guy you got a bounty on his Victory?

Right after the wipe when a few of us was making milliions in an hour or two. I popped on EU with my char that hadn't did anything, left it as a rookie pirate and had 4 ships and 4 million in less than 2 hours. @Ink contacted me and ask how exactly I did it. I explianed step by step about caputering a Trade brig, doing trade runs in that until I could pay for something bigger to capture a LGV and than doing more trade runs until I was able to buy a Trinc. I couldn't even crew it yet but next plan was to grind out the xp for that since I had the money. Like I said 4 ships and 4 million in less than 2-3 hours, but I also knew exactly what to trade and where and such compared to some new players. After that weekend they put in the first of a few econ hotfix cause we where making money way to fast. IF some one is dedicated and I asume @FRAN is they can easly make several millions a day with a few trade runs. Oh and right before the merge I bought a lot of goods on GLOBAL to trade over here. I have yet to cash them in but I bet you I'll make a nice big chunk of change and I don't even have to deliever them, just show up in the port and if it's friendly redeem them or redeem in a close friendly port. We are testers, if there is a problem with the game system they need to know, its a simple question. Other wise yes some folks can just trade all day long and make milliions upon milions. THe problem is when they control the market of contracts and no one else can afford to out bid them. I really wish we could pick which contracts we want to fill. Cause I know of some alts I would never fill there contracts even though they are the highest bidders on something. I have reported a lot of exploits and never got a warning. Devs have stated if you report them you can use them until they are fixed.....not that I used exploits either....just might of bent and twisted some very bad game mechanics....lol

Not to get off topic, but what I always said about guys like him if it's so great than why don't they test it in there state first. Most countries that have it are about that small...lol Now back on topic so any one want to start giving out some of those money's they have? help a poor brother out...lol

I see no reason that the rewards can't be cosmetic or version of other rewards you can get from PvE. That or make them BP's of ships you can get normal version of in game. Like the Pirate frigae and LVG can be rewards, but have a normal version any one can get with CM, but a black paint version in the PvP shop. The only way to get the BLACK pain version is to buy, trade or capture. Since there is a normal version (the blue P Frigate for example) in the CM shop any one can get those and have the same stats. Though I'm all for stronger punishments to be honest. You puhish these guys main account you will find they will stop playing and go play something else. Though other than bans maybe reduction in levels the first few times and than perm ban. Cause what is one week off from the game or do a combo. 1st Offence 2 levels removed and 1 week Ban 2nd Offence Half levels removed and 1 month Ban 3rd offence all levels are removed and perm ban until game is released. This punishment should be for all chars involved not one or the other.

I know one of our former clan members from BLACK back on GLOBAL would do what I call day trading and I'm pretty sure he has a lot of gold stocked up. Must be nice to sit in your office or home all day and do trade runs. When I wasn't working most of the last year or so I tried it a few times. Got bored as hell and didn't get to far....lol But hay some folks actually love that part of the game. They just need to share the wealth a bit more...
-
I don't get what that has to do with the once a day tow to port. I can prob make half a dozen ships in a day too but I still got to move them to the ports I need them at? Well I only get one free tow a day to do that no matter how many ships I build or buy with CM/PvP Marks.
-
He's got a point, one of the things that made BLACK great on GLOBAL wasn't just the fact we showed up with the best we can bring. We showed up expecting to fight to the last ships and have back up. If you come to fight and win and not run you tend to win more. When you win more you get more marks. When you get more marks you get better ships. If you show up expecting to loose your ship so you bring crap you will get crap. That is part of the problem is a lot of players are so worried about loosing pixel ships they avoid fights. Well don't bring what you can't afford to loose. There is nothing wrong with a fleet of 5tth rates, just got to pick and choose your battles is all. If you get into enough fights and gain enough PvP Marks those VM's really don't mean crap. That is why we stop going for the number one spot on Global, we didn't have the man power to hold a billion ports just for one VM a week. It's like Russia now it got it's spot for a week or two and than back out cause it couldn't afford to keep taking ports and trying to defend them to keep the spot so we handed ports off to a friendly nation that could hold them better. By what I'm told most the guys make tons of PvP marks so the VM's don't really mean much right now cause they are still out there fighting and fighting in the OW is where you gain the marks at.

How do I get bigger ships in battle mode?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Villars's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
As in Battle mode do you mean maybe Naval Action Legend? That is a separate game if that is what you mean. Your gold will go into a bank that you can use in port to do repairs and buy other things. -
Yah would be nice if they did gie better perks for using it. Like less accuracy when your at full sails and such. It blows my mind when folks complain about loosing sails and mast and you watch them pretty much let you ping there mast one shot at a time or line up for a rake than they complain. Maybe fight smarter. Once had some one laugh at me for messing up my stern rake until his mast dropped the next time i fired....I WASN'T AIMING AT HIS STERN. Those are the same folks that complain about game mechanics they don't understand and than throw out things like, "You had to be hacking to beat me." LOL I miss getting called a hacker and I'll be honest even though I'm a Vet I'm a very average player specially in 1 vs 1.

UI suggestion - get rid of Dismiss buttons
Sir Texas Sir replied to SKurj's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
are just make it more clear that dismiss means you plan to scuttle the ship. I think the problem is more user not understanding where the ship goes when you dismiss it. -
They can only produce if that port is open to all, other wise you can't use a building in an enemy port. Than we have alts, but we should not be making rules cause of alts. We don't want to limit players to death either. We do want the casuals to have some fun after all, not every one is a lifer/vet/pro after all...lol

Good job was wondering about this as we had a Brazil clan on Global and a few times info would not get passed to them. Good chaps for the most part though. My Portuguese is so rusty all I'm good for is understanding it not translating it lol. I can't remember what the battle time compression in game is, but think of it this way 10 mins is like 1 hour real life. So you have a hour and half battle timer right? That would be 9 hours of battle. Many of these engagements that where docutmented could be just a small few hour skirmish to several days. As some one posted it was a tactic to go for mast. French was more famous for doing it cause it keep the ship in tack. While British I think was more known for shooting low and going for the hull. I'm sure some one more knowledge in such can drop some links and facts for you. Folks also have to remember that we get one damage table and it's only a percentage for damage that is sail, mast, and rigging. You can take 100% sail damage and never loose your mast if it's never hit or pen (normally the sail percentage stops going down at a point). Also remember coring out some one can cause the mast to drop cause it looses support. You want to know how to decresss sail damage? IT's CALLED BATTLE SAILS. It also helps reduce roll too. Again as I started above to many folks constantly fight at full sails. I go to battle sails a lot in combat and you can actually get some better performance like your turn rate and such out of a ship while in battle sails compared to full sails. It's also why when we would have port battles a lot of folks sails would be way down but mine won't be cause I presented less sail target to the other team. Mainly cause I keep myself in Battle sails unless I needed the speed to get out of something than I went full sails. Oh and remember fires depending how big effect your sails too. Loved it when they added this into game.

capitol part won't work....I'm RUSSIAN we have no capital. Though just make it done with a workshop and it would be limited enough.

I always liked the surrender feature in POTBS at start of battles. Where they could offer up part of there cargo and I could let them go. To be honest I would prob let a lot of new players and lower levels go if there was an option like this where they can give up part of there cargo or offer payment for them to be let go. There should be penalities for fighting at full sails to be honest. Thus encouraging folks to fight in Battle sails. When every one was using tanked out ships right after the wipe I was out using Teak/WO and fighting in Battle sails and some times going faster than the LO/WO ships, but I could go full sails and get out of trouble if I needed too. This should be the norm instead of every one fighting always at full sails the whole time. and people forget that mast/sail damage is to multi parts of the ships rigging not just to the mast or sails.

How is that a problem? I'm sorry Casuals shouldn't not get every thing handed to them if they only plan an hour or two. Any one that takes time and plays the game, pro/vet, carebear is going to have an advantage over a new player or some one that hardly plays an hour here or there. That is part of playing an online game. Every other MMO out there unless you play the actual game your not going to get the best gear out there. The only time you see where a new player can just walk into a game and have the best gear is on Pay to Win games and this isn't a pay to win game. You want the edge, super gear? You need to play to get it or grind up the money to pay some one in game that has the gear they either grind or bought them selves. There is a reason why you can't just buy this game and jump right into a 1st rate. You need to play the game and level up and grind the char out. Just like any other game that has chars you need to level them up. Once you level them up to the respected level to be able to use that gear/ship you need to grind out the gear to make it better. That is the mods and skill knowledge. So if you don't have the time to do that than your not going to be at the same level as some one that does.
