Vicious Cycle that players repeat
jodgi replied to Blood Eagle's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Simple. PVP has loss and PVE doesn't. It's no mystery, we've been nagging over this for ages. -

Public "API" for Naval Action
jodgi replied to raskolnikoff's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
You eco guys are a funny bunch. I've heard so much about "EVE" this and "EVE" that over the last year that my ears are bleeding. But the minute we get a feature that is EVE-like it's suddenly terrible!? -

Public "API" for Naval Action

This is great! I just did a quick copy-paste of the tradertool (I'll kill it if it's not allowed), while we wait for the real web dudes. -
Don't expose shop data to public

Are the current daily snapshots perfect info or no? -
Don't expose shop data to public
jodgi replied to Gordin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Hmmmm... So, to use your, um... skill and coordination with trading you need the market to be shrouded in mystery you only reveal when you take the time to visit any given port? Surely eco players can achieve more with their skill when they can use their analytical muscle parsing a daily snapshot of the shops? Anyone can sail around and stumble over a stack of sought after items. Not everyone can use API data to read the entire picture and deliberately plan their shopping for max profit. I'm not a fan of the mystery concept. I hope they continue with this API stuff. -
Public "API" for Naval Action

I dunno. Transparency usually keeps eco scumbags in check. Now that we have own production I don't see how ppl can abuse this... too much. -
I don't understand. Why would anyone want to wipe their xp?
-
Rose and Moose, we had unlimited character teleport at one time. It was beautiful. Only sailing to get stuff moved or getting your ship to the fight. Now I'm forced to enjoy the realism of alt-tabbing while displacing virtual seawater. Apparently, watching the screen for extended periods of time doing nothing is someone's idea of "suspension of disbelief"... or "realism"... or "the economy needs it!" or whatever excuse they make up. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are 3rd rates too disposable?
jodgi replied to Ian2492's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
That's only a temporary problem, capped ships are only used now when ppl are still craftgrinding... Well, all but. -
How dare you two act reasonable!

Are 3rd rates too disposable?
jodgi replied to Ian2492's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Well, if yoloing capped 3rds are making the zerg think twice about bringing out their vics I think it's a great "feature". Some of us have done this a few times already; The SOL creep is about to get real. -
Yawn... Just remember this when the devs are forced to put rules and limitations on your sandbox and RvR.

Crafting Notes Changes
jodgi replied to David Batista's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Batista, you forget to consider how things are when you're done with the crafting grind, when you only make the stuff you need or craft ships as time allows and sell them. -
Are 3rd rates too disposable?
jodgi replied to Ian2492's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
40 days of crafting? It's only a matter of time before we're at full santi pb spam. Then the free 3rds won't matter as much. I dunno, but think this is a temporary problem. -
Locking a Ship to a Nation
jodgi replied to Slamz's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I've actually wanted to sell golden ships to anyone. Can't, though. The shops steal 40k and up for an open transaction. So, I've only sold ships to ppl I know. Wouldn't it be good for the economy to help crafters sell expensive ships to anyone? I feel for the non crafters who almost never see a proper good ship in the stores. -
Things have changed, don't trust the numbers. I'll get to it, but I'm busy with the many grind walls, sorry.
-
I'm prolly too old for this shit, but that has me more worried that the actual troll.

Are 3rd rates too disposable?
jodgi replied to Ian2492's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Ah, yes. The looming shadow of... Horror. So, to avoid silly... gameplay, I suspect some of the sandbox and loss hardliners of adhering to... run, run, grind bots, run, run, run, gank, run, grind bots, grind bots, get ganked, run, run, run, grind... gameplay. I don't get it, I think "retry" is positive and uplifting word. --- Relax, az. NA won't change that significantly, very few people ask for it. Lower your guard, you're swinging at a shadow. -
In-Game time vs Real Time.
jodgi replied to Admiral 8Q's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
OW time vs. real time or ship speed factor that is not connected to cannonball velocity (or maybe it is... and so on...)? If I thought this was extremely important I would have remembered, sorry. -
Oh, lawd, so gud!
-
But I did when asked. Why would I spend time carefully theorycrafting more or less intricate ways of griefing other players and posting directions publicly? Hinting towards it should suffice. Why pretend someone with disruptive intent would use easily detectable methods of obfuscating the link between their troll and main accounts? Usually I know if I'm about to get jumped. Not this time. Throwing up a word of caution and advocating for the cool-headed approach is not on my list of risky things to post.

I'm not saying "no" to a reaction against these things. I've just put the brakes on because people are all "one wrong step means criminal for life" and "ban steam account without issue of warning". What games have you played that does this over mechanics abuse? The games I've played have even issued "cease and desist" warnings to software cheat or injector users. Maybe I've been spared, it's been a long time since I've played games squeakers gravitate towards. NA is not your typical squeaker game, is it?

Ech, it's nothing fancy. You can just use the economy, in many ways, to create a layer of deniability between your scumbag and main account. I don't do this stuff. I don't think about ways to ruin RvR or people's gaming sessions. Just think what accidental or habitual assholes can come up with! I don't believe in the efficacy of punishing perpetrators and hoping that will be a deterrent for future shenanigans by others. To be perfectly honest, this lynchmob annoys me more than our offender.
