See? People are over the place. ___________ I'm glad NA is not like EVE. They have massive amounts of mind numbing PVE and eco boredom and so shitty fighting mechanics I giggle at them calling it PVP. I could leave PVE guys alone but they won't leave me alone. You have to partake in PVE to get certain upgrades and they complain when fighters are given ships for marks. Somehow their fun doesn't make sense unless everyone is force fed their way of playing. -

I suspect the big ships will become too powerful in strong winds, even if they have to close the lower gun deck. It's a terrific idea, tho, just extremely hard to pull off.

This guide is aimed at new players who are done with the small ships missions. When you get good at capturing bot Le Gros Ventres it is one of the most time-efficient ways of getting xp, money and combat marks. Ventres are everywhere and you don't need expensive ships, friends, fleet ships or other elaborate schemes to get going. Buy the cheapest square rigger in port, medium guns, crew and nothing else to start. -

Don't you like incentives to get people to go out for pvp? When we have this currency there is a motivation that should be able to trump the fear of loss based on gold and ship loss; pvp marks are more important and more worth. Is it bad that people who pvp get things bot grinders don't? Is it bad that people who play pure pvp can get nice things too? When it comes to the state of pvp on EU1 Mr. Goldman is one of the guys who knows what's up. What is your suggestion to boost pvp on PVPEU1 ? -

I noticed a marked improvement with SSD when I went from 8 to 16 gigs of memory. That machine always gives me at least 20 seconds to click before start. I don't think most of the optimization has been done yet, so normal HD and 4-8 gigs might be sufficient after.

Oh, great! Everytime I see this suggestion I just fear we're going to slow everything down. With increased turnrate you give something to get something. Sounds ok to me. I'm curious about how burning sails will play out for all those who love their massive amounts of repairs? (They'll love the idea but cry their eyes out when it happens) -
PVE to make ends meet is forced upon more than 90% of OW players, just sayin'...

You're not wrong at all. Every ship is vulnerable to rakes but slow line ships have the hardest time minimizing raking damage by maneuvering. Is it wrong for frigates to have a leg up against big ships? The power triangle of protection, guns and crew is already tremendous in favour of big ships. If we think in balancing terms and equal skill players the frigates have almost no chance. (It happens in OW because of silly players with silly choices and little pvp training). "Historically frigates shouldn't have much hope against line ships." Well, ok, but for I game I think it makes it more FUN. I'm ok with some noob protection, but massive amounts of crew healing is simply overboard.

I'm not sure either. In Aces High they've done it like this: NA would ofcourse not have radar blips, but the bars might work? How large should the sectors in NA be for this to conceivably work? AH is very similar to NA with large persistent (open)world but an important difference is AH has no eco or loss. That might be the pivot point as the OW population is schizophrenic (sorry) or extremely ambivalent to fighting. They want to fight but then they don't want to fight. Maybe player presence indicators only work in games where everyone always agrees that fighting is a good thing?
