  1. that and tutorial.
  2. Hmm, only did two duels last run. I believe I got no xp or cash.
  3. Seriously?! Over loot? If you're shooting at a ship you can see when it's about to sink. Just slow down as your victim slows down and drop sails when he sinks. New guys shouldn't hit fleets but rather single ships. It sounds like you want an easy way of getting all loot when you hit on OW fleets in your big and slow ship.
  4. Just know that they have the keenest focus on the ships and ship fighting. They never intended to do it all.
  5. I'm just special. My posting history is chock full of it, but TLDR; I hate PVE grind and what it does to the game.
  6. Based on our experience here many think that would be true for player retention as well. As long as it's truly "easy come" I'm willing to try it. ^this and all that "rare" stuff I will resist, hard.
  7. @Marques, you have to expect some resistance when you literally ask for the moon. Lighten up and lay off the aggression.
  8. Even drunk jodgi wouldn't say this... I hope. If you can quote me saying that... actually, please don't, my mortification would know no end. You gotta go tell them they're abusing your definition of an MMO. You're right about me having no experience in role-playing, eco and PVE MMO sandboxes. I've been avoiding those with extreme prejudice, so you can chastise me without restraint. I've pretty much only sold guns at CS since wipe. I would define myself as not playing even if I'm a semi-active eco/crafter. I never meant to hide the fact, but I don't want to be associated with those who threaten the devs with "do as I want or I'll punish you with quitting and leaving a bad and completely honest steam review". Since before your forum birthdate I've fought for new and casual players. Before we had eco I said "But let's not enable the rich to beat the poor by default". Go through my posts from 2015 and onward and count how many times I've argued to take power away from the powergrinders in order to enable starting players. I've failed miserably. Sorry. The aversion towards Legends and the idea that OW is somehow abandoned or deprecated came as a complete surprise to me. You're far from the only one showing it. I'm still chewing on this as I find it very interesting.
  9. Bless your pure heart! It's as much about the perception of bringing a knife to a gunfight. I'm worried we can't change how "the masses" think, heck! I struggle with myself in this regard. I got so tired playing mouse to the Swede super-fitted cats. They ground stuff, they deserved it, I ended up pulling out of the OW. I'm not special, what I think doesn't matter. But... Isn't it weird that though being very motivated for OW, I can't deal with it? BTW, @Christendom, I don't believe in "Happy sheep create happy wolves". You said "lazy balancing", I'd call it (sheep and wolves) lazy approach to a sustainable server pop.
  10. You know nothing, Jon Snow, that and a thousand other equally important things!
  11. This has never happened.
  12. This is how I explain the diff between 1-2k players down to 4-500.
  13. We completely and entirely agree. PvP marks as a problem is like a drop of pee in the ocean as far as PvP motivation is concerned.
  14. I have been dead scared of this since the economy was introduced into OW. I think it's a terrible idea to have a fun-tax (grind) to participate in PvP. It's super important to the sandbox/eco dudes. Most new guys won't get to the point where they worry about PvP rewards, they will see these extremely expensive upgrades in the capital shops, though.
  15. I could have written this. We may diverge a bit with the rest. I have two toons at crafting level 50 and one close. I wish your statement was true. In a competitive perspective crafting means nothing and I dislike that. Take a look around in the shops to see what the economy really revolves around; it's the upgrades. A custom wood trinco means little. A custom wood trinco with copper, art of ship handling and those other things at the end of a terrible pve grind is something else entirely.
  16. I sure am a try-hard wannabe ELITE player, but everything is not easy. Well, nothing is easier than grinding bots for days, weeks and months to get the books and rare loot drop upgrades. For me it's impossibly hard to get competitive gear, I'm unable to motivate myself to dredge an ocean of shit (PVE) for that nugget of gold (competitive PvP). Now a bone has been thrown at a small portion of the player base and people lose their mind over it. <shrugs>
  17. @Christendom and @Wraith. Isn't this expanding the tactical choices? BR, combined broadside weight, hull thickness and now wind, shore and leeway added to the considerations. I can't tell if it's all good, but it sure sounds fantastic.
  18. Also, you really can make a competitive ship with with grinding cash and random loot off OW bots. That's actually one of my insurmountable problems with the game: You have to PVE grind to get competitive stuff. PvE Lords (and I'm not saying OP is part of that club) will cry over PvP rewards, but the game is already 90% geared towards PVE, are they not happy until it's >99%? I would certainly not put it past them...
  19. I sympathize with this bit. I tentatively think changing wind in instances is more bad than good. I'm surprised with you not liking leeway, though. Feed me with a teaspoon: Why is it bad?
