Not yet. Capital capture requirements will be removed. Only distance will remain. -
Captains. Part 2 of the Seasonal update has been deployed Economy changes Shipbuilding changes Historically when building ships shipbuilders had a choice to use fresh wood or season it in seasoning sheds and have stronger, slightly lighter timber. Ships built from fresh wood rot easily and were heavier and weaker. Starting this patch captains will be able to season woods (provided they obtain the blueprint) Seasoning Shed blueprint added - new building Seasoning woods blueprints added New frames and planking types added (indicated by the letter (S) Tools blueprint added Trading and NPC privateering overhaul Price system and trading resource drop systems changed Trading goods is now one of the most profitable activities on the server Trading NPCs are no longer constantly overloaded Trading NPCs sometimes carry expensive loads (especially if you hit them on the end of the trading run with expensive goods) Privateer chest added to game. Privateer chest will drop from NPC Port raiders NPC Privateers in the OW (capital protectors) Increased drop of Victory marks and Combat medals from Raid Chest RVR BR Changes BR for both Player port battles and NPC Port battles have changed Battle Rating will now depend on port investment points More investment points = more ships required to protect and defend. Overall points have been lowered based on the points 55-50 points - 20,000 BR for deep, 2500 for shallow 45-40 points - 10,000 BR for deep, 2000 for shallow 35 and lower - 5000 BR for deep, 1350 for shallow NPC Raids Points for capture zone entry have been slightly increased Combat ships now give 15 points instead of 10 Trading Transports now give 325 points instead of 300 Did not make it due to other issues Removal of Capital waters limitations. In one of the following hotfixes only distance will be limiting port choice of attack. Capital waters will no longer act as choke points Point changes Important historical production or trading centers have their investment points increased to 55 Cartagena Caracas Bridgetown Several significant historical centers have their investment points increased to 50 points Bluefields Portobelo Puerto Espana Other changes 36 Pounders are now allowed on all 32lb french ships Leopard finalized and ready for release HP and thickness caps have been increased due to forthcoming cannon rebalance Increased strength of Upper parts of explosion shockwave - which will demast top sections more often BR changed for Ingermanland and Wapen Capital water protection - Also did not get in due to critical bug Once the feature is deployed privateers will be re-introduced into the game. Privateers will capitals and sometimes venture into important channels. Privateers will sail in strong mixed fleets with intercepting heavy frigates and fast lineships and will provide strong challenge to players operating deep in the capital waters territories. IMPORTANT Hotfix was deployed on 30th November 2019. Privateer fleets route testing NPC Raid patterns have changed for lower level ports. NPC Raiders will ALWAYS try to fill the BR limit by lowering class of ships. So for example for 10000 BR port NPCs will bring 18 Saint Pavels or Bellonas instead of 1st rates. They will continue to use 1 ship. BR Limits for shallow ports lowered even lower Nassay 2900 2000 BR limit ports reduced to 1350 1350 BR limit ports reduced to 900 Chinese localization file update Privateer chests Hotfix was deployed today, Sunday 1st of December 2 capitals of the Caribbean have updated Privateer fleets Privateer chest is now dropping from those fleets. Weight 250 tons so almost any ship can carry it out. Fire Hot Fix 5th December 1) Explosion damage to crew reduced 2x 2) Brace (F10) Effectiveness - increased 3) Explosion damage to masts increased 4) Explosion damage to sails increased Important Magazine explosions now will only happen after fire shock started to give players visual indication of the potential impending doom. Magazine can be reached by fire before - but it will only explode in fire shock.

BR change v2
admin replied to Gregory Rainsborough's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
BR changes are fine. They will come in handy when Capital first - Regionals second limitation will be removed. This change did not get in due to complex bug in Capital protector fleets which delayed it. All regions received 55 point ports and important historical centers were increased to 50 points to give opportunities to build better ships and provide more raiding targets in diverse regions. Patchnotes will be posted shortly. -

State of shallow PvP?
admin replied to Aegishjalmur's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
People buy STG 44 for 28,000 dollars not because its the best weapon not because its obsolete and taking space. We in Game Labs bring to life generals that can never walk this earth again, ships that can never sail again, weapons that can never shoot again; we get handwritten letters from american relatives of confederate and union generals who thanked us for getting their grand grand granddads into the games we get letters from museums for the ships we make. We add ships because they are cool. Not everybody buys this game because of shallow waters patrols. In fact nobody buys it these days for shallow water patrols. Players grow into RVR and ONLY then they start using best ships and best guns. But many buy because of the ships we have. Because we have them and 100% of other game do not. Its just shallow thinking from people like you and @Teutonic, seems like you will never get why we add ships like Lynx. And its ok. You seem to want a 3 ship 3 gun balanced counter strike that nobody wants. I love all ships (even Wapen) and honestly do not care about your shallow water opinion on HMS Pickle and Lynx and their usefullness. I will continue adding beautiful vessels that deserve to be recreated. In this and future games.- 68 replies

Great News Captains! Autumn sale started and this is the first time almost all the imported ships and other premium content items items are going to be on the discount. If you hesitated to buy them before maybe it is the perfect time to purchase them. Buying premium content not only helps you in game, but also helps to create new content for the game, pay for the crew and servers and continue to improve the current features. As a DIRECT results of DLC sales the following ships will be added in the next 3 months (some as DLC some as in free in game content) HMS Leopard Redoutable Implacable Additionally work has started on Wrecker Classic HMS Victory (the proper one, with balconies) Rotterdam Indiaman Refit Steam 2019 Awards: This steam sale also comes with Nominations, where you can nominate Naval Action for the annual award in one of the proposed categories like "Better with friends" or "Best game you suck at" or "Labor of Love". Award nomination is not mandatory but it would be good to get one more award (we got one in 2016 as indie MMO of the year) and say thank you to the community. You can nominate the game from the game page on steam https://store.steampowered.com/app/311310/Naval_Action/

State of shallow PvP?
admin replied to Aegishjalmur's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Carronades crews are well balanced i think given current crew mechanics. Reworking crew will stir the hornet's nest But penetration is going to be reworked. Long guns will trump carronades at distance even for smaller vessels.- 68 replies

CS does not delete disused guns, wot still has a MC-1, removing them would be bad design. We provide the whole variety that you can use. But you should use 32lb because you want the Nassau telegram to say " Teutonic has sank" not "Teutonic sank because he is stupid"- 68 replies

State of shallow PvP?
admin replied to Aegishjalmur's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Golden age ended long ago but piracy existed in 1830 and beyond. Last age of sail pirate execution in the states was in 1831 (for the failed attempt to steal cargo of silver). The last pirate after age of sail was hanged in 1860. Carronade was not the only reason piracy ended, but was one of main reasons that made attacks on merchants almost a suicide as even one HEAVY carronade could destroy the whole boarding party on deck of the privateer, and any trading ship could get 2-4 carronades. We have sources that this view is correct and will insist that you do not use the language you used. We do not call your opinion false so give me the courtesy to never do it again too.- 68 replies

State of shallow PvP?
admin replied to Aegishjalmur's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
I do not get this comment. If you take baseball bats to Stalingrad you are going to have a very bad, miserable, time. Why is it even a complaint. Every gun has its role We do not see people taking carronades into line battles for 55 point ports. Carronade is a killer of soft small ships. Carronades killed piracy because they were cheap, easy to operate and maintain. 4 of them on quarter deck could stop ANY boarding attempt and just required 2-3 men to service. 32lb carronades are the best carronades. Why would you even consider taking anything else? check out our ad from 2016- 68 replies

State of shallow PvP?

feel extreme pride with my design, when the Elementary course on Ordnance and Gunnery from 1845 accurately describes what happened with shallow waters meta in Naval Action. Naval Action is a replication of historical METAs - and we are not balancing gameplay for making basic cutters useful (we did some time ago but *** that time - we were idiots) Sail 32 pdr carronade ships. Do not like it? Good luck (we should allow use of 24 and 32 lb carrons on all light ships)- 68 replies

State of shallow PvP?
admin replied to Aegishjalmur's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
Yes, carronades were considered meta by the british navy for frigates and below, Until .... 24/32lb long gun frigates became the norm. After this carronades dissapeared (and very quickly). Because the long gun by that time (due to tech improvemetns) became more accurate, stable, and deadly gun platform, carronade fitted ships suddenly started dying at distance to long guns. You can even read this in the treatise on gunnery from 1850, by 1850 designers fully understood the importance of barrel length and shell size on accuracy. PS There is a curious case of HMS Glatton (1790) - we want to try it based on Leopard hull as an admiralty refit. Glatton was a 50 gun frigate beast that carried 68lb carronades on gun deck and 42lb carronades on upper deck- 68 replies
