  1. No need to be confused. You know a trader either sailed alone or asked for help, as in the human communication sense, by pleading, for crying out loud HELPME !!, or by request to the Navy Boards of the several clans. Sailing alone, because traders are always in a rush to do everything fast, carries danger. That's what pyracy carries when we go about History - menace to trade. Now which part of everything are you confused about ?
  2. I like your method the most. Surprise and intrigue on the high seas.
  3. It comes down to risk management as well. I will not let greed get the best part of things andd risk my neck to a coastal guard patrol waiting outside of battle. Was in that spot a couple days ago. Three Snake were outside waiting. I got a full loaded prize snow... and my pirate ship. There's no way I could get away with the full prize so I took what I could fit in the Hyena, therefore managed to hit and most important, run.
  4. It is the fine line where you don't want to be the Naval Captain anymore but you simply want to be the Naval Board. Nah, don't see it through. Get your act together. Enough player managed fleets as it is.
  5. Raider got raided I was sailing along the northern reaches of Cuba when a very confident United Provinces captain tried to come after the Hyena. Obviously he didn't know what he was doing trying to give chase and obviously gave up and decided to attack a Spanish 'Le Gros Ventre'. I was quite curious to see what was going to happen and if the opportunity arose steal the LGV if the Dutch managed win the fight. NPC fleet liberated Oh this is a good one, especially for the gallantries exchange in chat. It starts with Battle Rating testing if the NPC Fleet lends the BR to the player, which it does. Then the LGV unleashes all the confidence on us. Bad masters make for unhappy crew which were liberated from a lousy employer. Their master abandoning them to our mercy, which we have shown. SPECIAL No.1 A combat between two captains, Ellis and Blood Hound. Camera work. Pyracy is not easy Tried my luck on a LGV but couldn't keep her in battle. A good try though and a nice shake run for the crew on the new privateer stationed at Island Harbour. Login...sail...prize! Login, set sail and immediately get a prize. Ah ! Some days are just perfect. Many thanks to the efforts of the affected captain.
  6. "It comes down to the war Captains to solve what the Diplomats couldn't." - a grizzled old veteran at the "Snobbish Shark" tavern in Tumbado.
  7. Aye, it is all about fun NA is a good hobby be it PvE or PvP.
  8. Fleets count for BR difference At the very very very bottom line I would like for the fleet BR to be ignored.
  9. Reminder: Reserves must be assigned to Teams before the tournament start. So make sure your line-ups are the correct format with the player names and NOT clans reserves pool. Good luck to all.
  10. Pieces of eight was the standard weight for crown pieces. It wasn't the norm for everyday trade. What really mattered was the weight in gold and in silver or sotck value of gems and other resources like bales of cotton, etc.
  11. Would be kind of funny if Rules of Engagement and War Articles would be mechanics for rank progression. I'd bet 61 would be more than enough But it is a game So everything is al'right.
  12. If I get your idea right, more AI to replace players when they are not around ( using personal fleets ) ?... I may be misunderstanding it.
  13. It is a game yes, but... Now imagine the hell it was for the French fleet, privateers, traders and other vessels at L'Orient and Brest being blockaded all the time by the RN...
  14. Yarr... let me loose on the Pacific !!! Joking, but I will try to, make land, burn the ships and find a passage through the jungle.
  15. A small measure of roaming privateers that carry aggressive behaviour could be implemented, but all AI being agressive would return us to the point hwere it was annoying being attacked at every step.
  16. Just one detail. Presence of player is what triggers NPC spawns near a port. So the uncertainty factor is somewhat gone. But looks like a good thing to implement in PvE.
  17. very nice maybe add a noose ( triple pirate smile )
  18. The fame of a pirate, or infamy, resides on amount of prizes taken. Can be by ships or by cargo value. Bring me one single bounty to be payed to anyone by hunting pirates down It is wild west propaganda, not even remotely related to age of sail. Maynard didn't receive a single dime for hunting down Edward. ( oh and his ships had no guns as well, was full boarding action on his part )
  19. Hodo, Caribbean fleet numbers only please.
  20. So...BPs should be tied to Shipyards instead of the Captain.
  21. I am totally lost...Isn't this thread about personal horrible performances !? Anyway, and given the specifics lay out by Wilson, some of the stories are really nice. I would say that LanderD story fits perfectly and Grapeshot one is a truly a terrific story as well.
