  1. It is not the type of game where everything can be done at once, that is correct. It requires a bit of - plotting a course for today.
  2. Spain gets mauled to the ground two or three times. Always punches the ground where it falls and shows a come back. Sweden gets mauled to the ground twice. Fists the ground and gets up. Dutch United Provinces gets swamped once and kindergarten excuses happen. Long live the Dutch Antilles. Now get your shit together and fight back.

  3. Portuguese do give the "discretion is the best part of valour" its entire value especially during the NA timeframe in History. Best of luck with the group Rebel Witch. I am very sure there are a few portuguese playing the game but we just like to mingle.

  6. We have droves of cash for testing and dozen of millions doing pvp combat is expected. As much as are millions expected when solely raiding traders.

  8. So the firing as she bears would translate into simply giving the order and then observe the AI gun crew to fire automatically ( auto lock of sorts ) as she would pass the enemy ship quarter side or stern, etc, is this correct ? I am trying to understand exactly what is proposed.

  11. 5 seconds to unleash the rolling broadside no matter the amount of guns. Adjust your speed accordingly. We use a total abstract system that perfectly simulates the imperfection of orders being passed along a man'o'war where practice makes perfect.
  12. Ran a test, 2 surprises versus a cherubim. Only used grape along the broadsides of the frigate aiming straight at the gun ports and timing the broadsides with full armour. Was a average of 20 per broadside. Battle ended really fast. Once he was down to 160 the frigate couldn't anymore keep up with the rate of fire. The last 22 men provided to be very tricky to kill.
  13. If raiders can establish intercept patterns on enemy waters why can't those same nationals establish defensive patterns !? It is amazing how easy it is to throw 8 guys to chase one but leave 4 more to roam about raiding even more because those same 8 are trapped in a battle for 90 minutes. A big fleet can split in several smaller squadrons. That's how raiders do it, that's how coast guardsmen should do it. 2 minutes work both ways.

  15. I wanted to crush the dreams of the "carebear" naysayer. Leveling the playing field on release is a good thing. Whatever happens I know I will press the button.
  16. I'd put my hands on a raging fire and no chance to repair the Magazine that most wipe requesters ranked up doing mostly pvp. They actually ranked up without noticing it at all. A combat at a time and suddenly ... oh look... Curse ! nice

  19. It is not a bad thing. It provides another way of resolving combat. I'd say it is the consistency of results that makes or breaks, this is black powder gunnery therefore aiming on a general direction and Pray. Vertical stabilization tweak should add slightly more challenge though. The gun crews can manage the big guns elevations like they would a 1 pounder swivel in our game at the moment.
  20. Was lessoned a couple days ago by a gallant captain which all he did was grape right off the bat aiming at gun ports and carefully timing the broasides. Went from 318 crewmen to 200 in less than 15 mins of maneuvering. It is a practice I guess, almost as similar to specializing in precision mast shooting or massive leak broadsides timing.

  22. If the wind strength would be modelled then we would see a massive change in game especially regarding the lighter ships versus the big ones and sometimes the opposite. The dynamics of combat would change as much as they did when land was introduced imo.
  23. If trade run is a success awesome for both. The materials are safe. If trade run gets intercepted, awesome for escort as there will be a fight ! In both cases it is a gentlemen pact if there's payment involved or not. Does it warrant a coded machine based mechanic ?.... maybe.
