  1. Yes, more OW life. Totally 100% behind that part, as always. Damn...now need to search for a few epic suggestions threads... you might know them for sure
  2. We may be living in different alternate realities. Outposts are completely full of ships. Replacements everywhere But, getting over of the present aspect I think the main aim to bring the risk reward to previous levels, even with all the short-comings that we tested through and through. The named changes do really change a lot of things. Testbed gives a glimpse but hard to know for sure until it hits Live. Game is the same but a lot of necessary logistics and risks inherent to age of sail are back. Combat is also more visceral. Raw. Plus there's a lot of little things that one must discover, especially in combat. All in all the same old Naval Action.
  3. There were no teleports once. They got implemented to be tested. There was no OW once. It got implemented to be tested. You see where this is going @Rickard. It is a cycle. There are a lot os aspects of the game that are more valuable to many players than teleports. For example new ships, or open battles, or... Also, this is only my take on it as a customer player, Devs can be reached by PM. If there's anything I personally value the most is how precious a 1 on 1 talk can work things out .
  4. Less than 3 hours are needed to sail from Fort Royal ( french capital ) to Saint Mary's ( free port ). That's a pre-emptive cruise to setup a outpost in "enemy" waters. Next session you are set to go. Did it recently in PvP2. Played 2 times that week. One day I made the trip. Was keeping an eye on the horizon and writing a paper at the same time. Had to escape a couple interceptions but was fairly easy with the Yacht. A couple days after managed to scrap an hour to play, sailed out from Mary's in a NPC bought ship and raided a player trader ship, give or take the cruise lasted 40 minutes sailing from Mary's, intercepting the Trader Brig near Sullivan's Island, the time for battle and then the sailing up to little river. Not bad for a casual player I would say. Obviously the follow up days were sort of shorter given the cruises started in enemy held waters. But to each its own. Planning cruises and time to play is a skill on its own. Not going to play a two hour long scenario when I can only spare 1 hour to play. Must chose shorter length scenarios. Many games have this. NA provides for the half an hour attack random NPC fleet or hours of PvP raiding and Conquest.

  5. Was done after the captured 3rd rates were gone also. Still, I am talking about practical levels that OW can and must be the essential venue of activity, not technical difficulties like gathering 12 players. Maybe I am just not making myself clear.
  6. Yes, Agree. Need more dynamic Admiralty / Maritime board OW content.

  7. Some hauls are less than 2 minutes away. The deliveries do not yield as much but are safer.
  8. You know, once we all close Global and only the toxic and trolls are left there that's when Global ceases to have a purpose. As long as there's decent people there actually putting global in order and "chocking" the trolls with their own voices Global survives well. But it is easier to turn off Global. Return to first line.
  9. Jon, for face off "arena" let's sink all the duras yeah, it is good fun at the evening. The large portion though likes to play with purpose, as Z4ys points out with everything going away that large %% is taking a break until the wipe.
  10. Still how great the exchange was back in the Dutch Swedish war when the open world fleets clashed Those moments make part of the NA history. Examples of good conduct should be shared. ( instead players focus more on naming & shaming, which I dislike with a passion )
  11. Maybe you are right, maybe you are wrong. How did we even craft ships back then ? How did we even organize fleets that had ships sailing from all over and meet at a given point ? Port battles is not the high-end content, it is a battle instance linked to Conquest. If I intercept your rated ship before you reach your PB, it is high end content as well. Or if I intercept your transport ship full of materials en route to a naval base for crafting a PB ship. That's high end content as well. Or if I take the time to assemble a couple PB rated ships for you to use. That's high end content as well Well, I'm not the arena type so I am really biased towards open world activities.
  12. Early 2016 big empires would split themselves into control areas and different clans were organizing different tracts of conquered land. Was that bad for nations to have to organize themselves and bring every player to the table ? South British was dealt by some clans, Jamaica others. Dutch the same, East and West. And so on. There was social organization at a different level. What changed ? Self anointed prophets ? You can now control full tracts of land without having to deal with any logistics and more, a fully committed 25 ships fleet ( we have a lot ) do not need anyone else in the nation... at all. Is that a good thing ? I think not sir.

  13. Yes. That is what Zooloo was referring to ( btw we had more development time without deliveries than with deliveries. OW got empty since all kinds of TP got introduced. Planning cruises is a essential part of a age of sail simulation of the life in the west indies the same way planning a patrol cruise over the Channel is essential for a battle of britain simulation - you simply do not phase in and out into the warp ) Indeed, is about global chat. Guess we should keep it if we know how to keep our cool and behavior. All of us. At all times. ( poll questions direct answers to specific intended results. It is not honest. )
  14. You didn't read all. There's the idea to use Marks.
  15. Gotcha. Then yes I will in advance. ( especially due to be actually going to play France for the next testing iteration ). Like many times before, even when there was no TP. It is not new for many of us so not shocked at all. I do plan all my outposts do cover all. Squadron of ships adequate to multiple situations. Lots of sailing indeed but pays off. Some got comfortable. Others kept their own discipline and planning their cruises with objective in mind. One day one might spend an hour sailing resources. The other day might be commerce raiding, and on the other jumping a Conquest battle. The hasty "want it all now" doctrine is what I perceive is being split away for a second game.
  16. Now that's a proper and thoughtful remark. ( poll is highly irregular in the answers. A yes, no, don't use global anyway, options would be perfect instead of all the explanations )
  17. Yes. While it looks very "single player game" style I believe it can be done in a multiplayer game to provide appropriate asymmetrical balance due to overpopulation.
  18. ( can't vote as everything is mandatory ) 1 - I don't understand the first question. It is very against logistics needed for successful conquest. Why would a fleet sail across the map when you can conquer regions close by and do "region hopping" ? 2 - is still dependent on map reset and resources being reworked as announced, so...Yes, I guess. 3 - Again I do not understand. Easier or harder in comparison to what !?... The new players will play the changed game. End of. It will be what it is. But I also say that we all should be reset fully and Rank progression will not be even remotely close to what many of us experienced in the various iterations. I will say they will become better while ranking up as they HAVE to present results. We simply had to do damage. 4 - No. Quite the opposite. ( suggestion, make the answers not mandatory )
  19. Yes, with water detail at max but reflections off it looks a bit murky. Couldn't hurt to have the lighting projected along with the sky dome. I simply turn them off not to have the ships reflected, looks surreal.
  20. We do. Let them clans have the glory. We get the loot. and the thrill of the hunt, the facing the odds and prevailing.
  21. Despite all my eagerness for historical credibility, how much of chat is used for "name & shame", "abuse", "trolling" and loopholing with ALTs ? There are a lot of extremely gallant captains out there that even help, ALL the time, opponents. But it takes one, only one battle acting like a fool to put all that to the trash bin. I am all social all immersion but oh boy do I despise upstarts and power gamers...
  22. National News, months and months ago, had National rosters for diplomacy posted in, with all 3rd party tools necessary, TS and the like along with all the treaties, wars, and a lot of other information that was convenient for everyone interested.

  23. I respect all playstyles. But wanting to do everything in the SAFEST way possible ( TP ) is not playing the game. Is bypassing possible OW content.

  24. That's correct. Although the driving factor is, for some reason - do not want randoms - which is a force driving away many people. Big difference between the closed testing and release of EA where a lot of randoms ( just lol at the word ) decided to join.
  25. I am not against an arena type based ruleset game I am just more supportive of OW ruleset game. do I need to justify myself why I like more OW and less the arena game ? Hell, anything that improves the OW is a win for me and for all those that want more and more OW and if the Devs energies will be focused on that, that's great news. As I see it the see arena based match-ups as a opportunity to develop, fully and not half hearted, as a game in itself. Any problem with that ?
