  1. There should be some way to access the hold of a store ship sailing with the RvR fleet.
  2. In for a penny, in for a pound of stupid is not an argument either. No one ever asked me whether fishing for seasalt was a good idea, or I would have told them it wasn't. The gameplay problem is that travel lanes are just a honeypot for gank victims.

  4. England expects every man to do his duty... ...not.

  5. Only if they are called Los Angeles Freeway Winds, because that's what they are. Trade winds are an actual thing. https://www.windy.com/?17.057,-38.188,5 Also, I don't see the point of aiding AFK sailing specifically in an area where all the gankers will congregate.
  6. Yes. Yes, and again yes. It's already proven. I have no willpower. The developers need to protect me from myself.
  7. It's really not a PvE v PvP thing. I've gone through times on the early OW where PvP was very hard to find, and levelled almost exclusively with PvE. The game is better without missions.* You don't offer cheetos and corndogs at a decent restaurant. *In their current form.
  8. Well for that matter there's not much point in having a PvE server at all. But you have an OW, so you might as well use it.
  9. PvE players have even less reason to be hiding from the OW. You can sail around the Windward Passage all day with never any risk, nor is there the slightest purpose is grinding faster than the competition. There isn't any competition. Look, this is game design. We're all hamsters in a maze. The game can make you miserable by incentivizing bad habits. Hamster gets the kibble the more he times he brushes up against the taser in one small corner of the maze. 90% of people (including myself) don't have the willpower to resist superior rewards and instant gratification. The devs need to protect us from ourselves.
  10. I was never, ever attacked once in hundreds of missions in Cuba. There's no risk when you are only 5 minutes from port.
  11. Small doses, exactly. That's why I called for limiting the missions available per day. Anything from 1-3 would be fine. Problem was, the new OW austerity made constant missions the most reliable, profitable activity.
  12. For the sake of argument, players unlearned teleport and Send to Outpost pretty fast, because they were forced to. Retaining some missions but not others is the irritant.
  13. It's not a style of gameplay. It's factory farming. Missions and their profitability treat players like doped-up chickens raised for meat in tiny cages. It's correcting an error; they never should have existed in that form to begin with.
  14. I've seen this happen after an OW battle vs AI outside Havana, not just a mission.
  15. Five paragraphs of whining and you still haven't pointed to a single specific complaint. No one, most of all the devs, is going to read the rest of your post because of this. They will give up halfway through. State your opinion clearly, briefly and calmly. We don't need half a dozen emotional prologues, waiting for you to make your point.
  16. What's the benchmark for destroying a topmast now?
  17. Add tide to the equation and that's a whole separate game for iPad and mobile.
  18. 99% of players will watch it once and skip it every other time.
  19. It's the devs' prerogative to restrict access to mediocre content and improve player experience by promoting superior content. Ultimately, that's what this is about.
  20. For pirates, at least. This.

  21. The game worked just fine before missions came along, I can assure you. If you say that OW rewards should be increased in order to help new players, then I'll agree with that.
  22. The setup costs are a separate conversation, and I'm with you there. But a game where the best (and therefore only viable) way to make money is to grind missions is a miserable failure of a game. It probably would have been better to remove missions (in their current form) entirely, so no one could complain about the devs 'forcing' them to play a certain way. Personally, I'm fine with the devs 'forcing' me not to use the Bismark ship that was added as an April Fools. Because it's a better game that way.
  23. The missions are meant for new players. The game is meant to be played hunting on the OW, whether for bots or players.
  24. It's a damn sight more realistic than most of the physical mods...
