I would say keep US, GB, France, Spain and Dutch as the nations and then have pirates be the catch all hardcore faction.

RvR - Bringing back a better Flag
Christendom replied to Teutonic's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Except now most people don't bother countering hostility and they just screen the force out. And RVR now requires 2 days of effort invested and with timers staying up 2 nights or getting up early 2 days in a row is difficult. Since the change in hostility and the port costs RVR has dropped off considerable. This system does not work -

Facepalm. Comprehension is poor with this one. You can get combat marks through PVP. Or you can just use straight up PVP marks. Or you can purchase marks from other players with gold. Currently PBs are at an all time low. So clearly this system of forced PVE doesn't work. My suggestion allows flexibility and doesn't force players to be up 2 nights (or mornings) in a row and therefore increasing the willingness to stay up for fights. -

I like the idea of instead of a flag, make it a special ship that has to be sailed to the port and join the battle. Call it a troop transport. It doesn't have BR, but has to join first for the attacking side to join. Once it joins the battle it assumed the roll of the battle commander and they can just free cam and not have to fight. Also to eliminate multi flips we can just limit the amount of PBs going on against one nation at a time to be a total of 3. You can also but an exponential growth on "flags" purchased, have a timer of the purchase window similar to how joining fleet battles works. Every 5 or 15mins 1 flag purchase is available by that nation against another nation (or something like that). Purchasing flag #2 against nation X jumps in price, same for flag #3 -

I like the notion of purchasing the flag beforehand and it triggering the battle time. Then you still have to run the flag to the port to gain access to the battle, creating a need for screeners on both sides. This eliminates the annoying hostility grind and the lack of balance those battles create and also eliminates the need for 10+ players to be up late 2 evenings in a row and will allow others to stay up past their desired time zones to take ports. Excellent suggestion. @admin I'd copy the heck out of this. Only change I would make would be to make the flag purchasable Combat or PVP marks. say 500 combat marks or 100 pvp marks. -
Surely I'm speaking of the US, or was that not clear? If I was claiming it as my own I would of used "my" wouldn't I have?

Captiva has a good point. Fewer nations please.

This would presume that our gold has been wiped and you would receive money for the cargo and selling the ship. If PVP marks are the only reason people PVP then I guess that explains why it’s so dead. Also the introduction of fame or reputation would be a good motivator to PVP. There are a million ways to make PVP more rewarding and dynamic in this game, marks was just the easiest one to code. It’s lazy and a poor motivator.

More players More PVE/Casual content to keep people interested More interesting RVR. Not having to grind bots to do it. Restoration of the safe zones and casual player protections Dynamic loot system with ship cosmetic rewards for quests, achievements and player kills. Removal of the marks system. The reward for beating an enemy should be taking his ship and cargo IMO.

Ah that revisionist memory. It explains much.

Let’s cut the victim bullshit. No one is buying. You spent your month in the US berating everyone and their brother in nation chat daily for their lapses in coast guard skills and general PvP prowess. When you did go out and help you made sure everyone in nation knew you were doing it. You also repeatedly would bring up how much the nation owed you and how you should charge for escorting traders. Come the RVR side of things your plans always were the best and every one was wrong. Despite the fact that the only PB wins you experienced in the US that were fully contested, I commanded (yea ok...against the brits). Lets also throw in your previous 2 vacations in the US nation where you left on bad terms and sabotaged their coast line. And you turn into a petulant child because people generally dont like you in the US. Go figure. I can’t imagine why you get shit talked. Now you’re gonna punish the US for simply not bowing down and kissing your ass. It’s comical really. You know full well losing Saint Marys and eventually Little River will kill your seal clubbing lands for good, but you'll do it anyway. Raxius revenge tour for imagined slights 3.0

I don't see King of Crowns on that list....
-
The Free State of LeVCO can promise nothing. and really the only drama in the US we were involved in was drama you started.
-
The Free State of VCO allows all comers on it's thread.

Yea that about sums the guy up.

Blah blah blah. You leave the US on bad terms for the third time, immediately start farming their players not 12 hours after, use Teddy’s account to shit talk is in nation the same day, use US ts while actively sinking our players and now you start taking our ports at off times. It also seems you listen in to US senate meetings. Yet you’re upset when the US trashes you? I mean honestly babe..what fucking planet do you live on? Anyway I don’t even think Little River will interest us (as in VCO) enough to get on to defend it. I would of handed over that loser of a port to CSA months ago if they weren’t already losing millions a day. I simply just don’t care about ports anymore. It took me 3 nights to sail back from KW to Tumbado this week, seeing the pop so low and the general decline in activity is just too depressing to even bother. Once that patch hits VCO is hitting the eject cord out of this banana stand and headed over to form LeVCO in France. Fuck it. If everyone else is gonna club seals on the coast I want a piece of that pie before it’s all gone. Key Lime is my fav pie btw. See ya soon mes amies! I do find it curious that despite assurances that he wasn’t leaving the US to go sink US he hasn’t left the coast elsewhere to hunt. At all. His 2 recent PBS have been at EU times and he runs primarily an EU clan. Why not attack elsewhere? I have my issues with Kingy, Boom and Banished, but they do show up elsewhere on the map on occasion seeking game that fights back. Rax and the boys don’t. Are they afraid? the world may never know.

San Sebas did not have a port timer. I don’t think I’m alone in saying people just don’t care right now about ports or PBs. Maybe it’ll change, maybe not
-
Actually it’s not. An alt requires you to pay full price for the privilege, requires you to juggle multiple instances of the game and get that character to the necessary locations. It also requires you to go through the expense of opening the outpost slots and dockspace. In short it requires effort. Players with appropriately positioned alts spent the time to do so, rather than clicking a button and swiping a card. This is pay to gain a competitive edge. Using alts is paying for the access to work for a competitive edge. I’m not necessary ok with either, but there is a lesser of two weevils here
-
Yea I’m not so sure about this dockspace DLC. Seems preposterous to me that an unreleased game even has DLCs and early access testers need to pay to test in other nations.... but whatever. I’m fine paying for cosmetics or even premium ships as they require more effort than changing a couple zeros. This is a pure and simple cash grab and I’m not enthused.
