The problem was they where jsut like any other nation and was treated as such but was limited on permits to buy and any one could buy the P Frigate stuff too and use it. Pirate reifts should be limted to pirates only and there ship yard. You want one you have to capture it. If you get caught in one you are treated by all nations as a pirate. The pirates also need there own port battle mechanics. Make them raids where they take a port they only hold it for say 3-5 days and than it returns to the owner. They get Pirate Havens spread out all over the place and no capitals but they can only raid National ports for a temp time. That was the problem in the past was they had no other mechanics. As a former pirate player yes I got my permits through my national alts, cause we needed them to fight the same port battles as the nationals had. So as long as they have the same RvR mechanics than they should get the same ships, but if you give them some Pirate only mechanics and make them something hard core and intersting than I would return and be very much happy to remain in 4th rates and below other than capture SOL's.

Why do we even have clans with that many ports? There really should be a penalty to owning to many ports. It's way to easy to get money in this game. How about we cap the amount of ports that you can set timers on so that a clan that gets say more than 10-15 ports can't have timers on the other ports and risk loosing them cause they are spread out to thin. Other wise you have the problem where a few mega clans own most of the map and folks never fight cause they don't want to get curved stomp by these mega clans. 25 should be the cap of ports owned any way. If some one chain boards they are loosing crew each time cause of the rum cool down. This perk was from the Gold Marines, Gold Boarding party and Press Gang perk days where you could take a smaller ship and chain board larger ships. You can't do that now in game. No you can't even board a ship of same crew as you cause you will need 30% more crew to do the board and boarding a ship under crew was all ready bad even if you had all baord mods and they had barricades cause defensive mods are so much more powerfull than offisinve mods. I won most my baords in the past with nothing but barricades most the time. Now I can't even pull another ship unless I have 30% more crew than them. I would say there needs to be a counter perk than if some one takes this than maybe allow if you don't have this perk but you can take press gang (one perk or the other, but not both). Cause if your going to bring back this perk than you need to bring back Press Gang too.

Please, more PERKS slots.
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sento de Benimaclet's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
If any thing Combat perks and Crafting perks need to be separated. You get 5 combat perk slots based on your Rank which use to be 1 perk for every levels but I think they give them all out in your first 5 levels now as it's 2 per level. Than you have 5 crafting perks slots that are based on your crafting level. You get one perk per 5 levels in your rank so when you hit rank 50 you have 10 points. This means a player that never crafts and only figths can have his combat perks and be happy. A palyer that never fights and only a Lt Com but rank 50 crafter will only have a few combat perks but full 10 points towards crafting. We need to give reason to make rank 50 any more. Crafting use to be important for mods and special ranked ships as you level up. Bring back something to make it worth the Trader/crafter that doens't like combat or you can have the master of both that many of us who are maxed out in both will be. This will also give the casual player a chance to craft and fight without the need of alts. -
I still think we need to down grade it to US, GB, France, Spain and maybe DUTCH (combine the Swedes, Danes and Dutch). Which where all the big powers at the time and like others said give Pirates the same mechanincs that RU, PL, DE have right now but instead of no capital give them Pirate haven ports which have no safe zones. Kidds, Mort and a few other traditionally pirate ports could be used. These ports are just like freetowns but pirates have Pirate Dens in them. Hell even limit them to 4th rate and below (shipyard 1 and 2 only), on crafted ships anything bigger they have to capture.

Solve the PB timer abuse
Sir Texas Sir replied to Sven Silberbart's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I'm going to have to agree with you on the money. Charging more isn't going to fix it, but will hurt small clans/nations that can't make all that money like the big guys as fast. Instead we need hard caps or limits. Make it you can only set up to 10 timers and that is it. If you own more than 10 ports you have to pick which don't get timers and the rest are open to all or you need to have other clans own them. Maybe limit the number of ports owned to clan members. Every 10 members you have you can own a port. So that means if a clan has 250 members it can own 25 ports. Though I think the hard cap should be 24. Though they will have 14 ports with no timers set so they can be attacked at any time. Owning more and more ports should be harder just like if a nation gets to big and owns more and more land it should be harder and harder to protect all your boarders. We are just making it more a clan base thing. If you want to have a lot of ports in your nations than you need other clans to own ports too. This keeps from one mega clan from happening. Well what about alt clans and clan jumping? Well make it so if you leave your nation (which should be in game any way) or clan that your Lord Protector status is gone. You have to do a new port battle in your new clan to keep the lord protector status and gain your VM's. Rememeber clans still get 10 ports in there prime timers which is more than enough ports for them to defend if they so wish. The goal is to encourage more folks to fight and more clans to own ports in game and not just one or two mega clans or nations. Mega clans can still own the key important ports they just don't need to own every dot on the map. We don't have map resets in game which would be the other option. Every three months the map resets, but I'm sure a lot of folks would not want to regrind ports over and over. Other wise without encouragement to have folks fight over ports the map gets very stale mated and no one fights cause the little guys don't want to try to take on the big guys that owns most of the ports. -
I call BS on this unless it's something you just changed. I checked several weekends in a row as we been looking at ports and the timers have not changed in almost a month.
-
Are make certain none important ports where you can't set timers on them so that they can be fought over at any time of the day by any one that want them. Notice I keep saying none important ports. We have tons of ports with no key mats or goods in them that can be used in such manor. There needs to be some sort of check and balance as to not let folks abuse the timers and lock out content from a good part of the player base both US and EU players. Maybe limit how many ports you can restrict timers on. Each clan gets 10 ports they own that they can pay to have the timers set to what they want. All other ports have to have open timers. This means that clan has to pick the 10 most important ports they want to defend. I would go about saying make it only 5 this way it would encourage them to let other clans own ports and help each other defend them as a team.
-
Are drop ports they aren't using since there wasn't a wipe with the merg. It's hard to take some ports for US and EU player to fight over when they are all in other times zones. And saying going to the other side of the map to flip a port won't encourage multi nations to fight over a zone. It just ends up in one sided fights. We are still in alpha so there is no reason for us to not do wipes to test things. It's hard to test stuff when the content is locked behind some one owning most of the ports in a zone folks should be fighting in. Oh and last I checked they are not in EU time zones. 11-14 is mid day for most of ya'll so that means your at work and such. That is early morning for US. It is not game prime time for EU players so don't say it's EU players prime time. I have no problem getting on mid day to play in EU prime time, I do have problem when they are set out side of most of the servers prime time to avoid fights and that is exactly what he's admitting he's doing. They own to many ports they can't defend on there own so they are trying to us a time when the less amount of players are on to avoid fights. How about a bunch of us go try to flip multi ports and see how many they can actually show up for at that time? I think folks are so against a wipe of the ports cause they know they will loose most of there ports when folks find out just how many players they really have in there nation and they have to fight over scraps with current players.
-
Again why do I want to go across the map to flip a port where no one else in my nation is at? Your in the middle where most of the other nations are. If you don't want to get multi flip maybe you shouldn't own so many ports you can't defend? Every one has money so that isn't an issue. IF your not using the ports than let other folks use them instead. Bahamas should be a melting pot of multi nations owning ports there not one or two nations owning the majority of the ports and locking them up in one timer that most players don't play in.
-
And the one flip wasn't even the one they came to flip right if I understood right?

I check the forums while at work cause my lunch (2am) is about when the devs get active and post some times. I check discord through out the night cause if something happens after I leave for work I know about it in the mornign when I get home and can join in or move ships around if need be for the after noon or weekends. That and I"m just a forum whore so I'm always on it any way.....I mean just look at my post count lol Maybe it's not EU players that would like to have port battles in the shallows? When we where still Russian I was looking all over the map for decent times to maybe flip a for our clan. It seem that the only way we could get a port was on the other side of the map where we would of gotten no support from our nation or by doing the port battles on the weekend very early in our mornings. Which isn't bad cause we had some AUS/SEA/EU players that could join, but it's hard to get folks organazed when the majority of us are not EU players. I like to do things in the middle of the day (like sleep cause I work 3rd shift) or family stuff and play my game in the eve (sounds like what the EU players like too) not have to get on right when I get off work or in the middle of my sleep time just to flip a smaller shallow port that is owned majorly by one or two clans with one timers only. YOu could always ask some of the other time zones clans if they want to defend the ports for you in off times and than if they loose it or not so be it. Do you honeslty need to own over half the Bahamas?
-
When I start a new game I try to play through a lot of the content solo and not part of a clan. I It was almost 5-6 months before I joined a clan in NA and that was only cause of an old friend from WoT was in the clan and we where just going to tag along. Other wise I wanted to stay clanless and do my own thing. Other folks are like that too so no one should force them to do what they don't want to do. When I was burned out of the game after the wipe and trying to leave my old global clan I wanted to return to do that just that run solo with my alts as a mini small clan and not a worry about other players. Luckly some clan mates let me burn steam and take a break and brought be back into the clan and we made a smaller less stress clan out of the like minded officers and players that didn't want to do mega RvR every one against them clan stuff. Hell with my crappy work hours I stil pretty much play like a casual now any way.
-
Maybe folks are posting from phones, work computer or what not. For me I just walked in from my 3rd shift job, but others might be posting from there lunch breaks or just getting on in the morning. It's not like I can't post and I do a lot from my phone.

@admin I'm not sure that will work well, think as other mention we will have the same problems with war supplies. How about maybe making some none important deep water ports and shallow ports around the map and Bahamas restricted to small clans. You can put a limit of clans with 10 or less or even 5 or less ports owned in those zones. Since the Bahams are more meant for small clans and nations to fight over and new players it shouldn't be owned by mostly one nation or mega clans. It should along with some other ports spread out over the map be reserve for small nations/clans to have. Yes you can have multi clans take over most of it, but keeps one mega clan from owning majority of a zone meant for new lower level players and small clans to play in. Since you own 14 of the shallow water ports, which is over half of them that might not be a bad thing. The problem is your clan and swedes own most of the ports of a zone that is meant to be for small clans and lower level players. If most of the ports are all in one time zone that isn't very good for the majority of the server than very few folks will fight and shallows should be the fun training zone for up and comming RvR players. Not a zone where one or two clan/nations own every ports. Back on Global when either US or PIrates owned very port it meant there was little to no PvP in that zone, it really needs to be a metling pot of nations and players so if you have some of those ports you don't need I would say drop them and let other clans/nations in other time zones pick them up and fight over them. Most of us GLobal players are picking scraps and as soon as we take an off time port and put it in our prime time (which has happen) folks get all bent out of shape, but it's the only way for us to get any ports for the most part. Yes there are some ports in US prime time on the other side of the map, but they are also no shallow ports which are great for getting folks out there in cheap ships and learning to fight and RvR. Again back on global after the wipe We actually left the north for US to take while Pirates held south Bahamas and we fought over Nassaue with GB and US flipping it every other week. We left it open to all and it actually made it fun to have it so folks can play. IF a small clan tries to flip one of these ports that Swedes or Brits own I bet you they will get hit with a crazy number of screeners which will make it not fun at all. Oh you mean every port that isn't owned by the clan with over half the ports in that area....I mean what is it like 14 ports all owned by one clan in a veyr early restricted time zone? WHy take ports from a nation with very ports as is (the pirates) and well Nassaue I can just see how many screeners will show up for that one going against one of the mega clans lol Bimini was actually taken by a clan that waited for the weekend and did a flip when most players can be on for most of the time zones by what I under stand (mid US time eve for EU folks I believe). So it's port time wasn't very restricted. Hell I can't even remember who US took that port off of now. Was it the swedes and it was pretty much a no show other than one or two guys.

US Player base
Sir Texas Sir replied to AmericanOutlaw's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
In size it prob goes like GB US and France. GB has the most players than most nations combine, but as folks said a lot of them just trade and care bear it up. US has the same problem but larger number of them are going out and trying to fight back. They tend to get farm a lot so if they start to learn and get some guidence they might be able to bite back. France has like two main groups that are RVR/PVP the rest are EU. If your new I would say go US and just learn the game and get in with a clan and take your time. Than again I'm a bit bias since I just recently switched from Russia to US. Remember many of the other nations are majority EU players and some are largely none English speaking. Spain has very little to my knowledge US player base other than alts for the most part. For the most action I would stick with the three I meantion above. US, GB and France. We picked US cause there was more room to grow in that nation and would allow us to fight France and GB. GB to me is just to large so doesn't need more fat to the trimmings per say. France well a lot of the guys we want to fight are on that team so if we wanted good fights we didn't need to join them. So either way good luck and welcome to your new nation when you pick it. -
Safezone? Yes! For max lvl too? No!
Sir Texas Sir replied to the Kidd's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
While they are offline? You mean while they are AFK and not playing the game so there is no reason for them to own those ports and if they didn't want to loose something, they should of keep them to capital waters. IF they are active they can flip the port fast and retake it under there clan or a new one names. We need to test things and we aren't testing them with the merge and new players and such. Remember this new patch coming up is suppose to have new hostility system with it so that would be a good time to do it with the UI and such to test things. Ports should be changing hands any way and if they aren't there to stop it they aren't playing the game. Exaclty folks forget that all the time. Honestly I'm suprised we haven't had a few dozen wipes so far in this game over the last two years I been here testing things. We are getting real close to the switch to a beta stage or even release soon so we need to do as much testing as we can.- 200 replies

Missions Immediately closing?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Slim McSauce's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
I was going to say this, and this works with the shallows too. Just cause you can join with your deep water ships if that cross is in shallows your going to be stuck when you get out of the mission. The missions are at the cross swords now where you join so yes you be in safe zone and join a mission but your mission can be out side it and stays open. If all else fails they can join a mission, sail away from the start point. If no one joins in 2 and half mins it's safe go kill AI. By than they are spread out a bit too. The other thing is stop doing them out of the capital. Find a port that is in the safe zone with a big area and pull them in front of that port. If it's not in the safe zone delete and keep pulling them until you get them where you want. We found many guys didn't know you can just delete them and pull new ones until you get what you want. -
I still think we should start with a hybrid fog of war map. You map only shows the capitals of countries and maybe regions when you start. Prob shows all your nation. Than as you explore it begins to show all the other ports as you find them. This will give folks a reason to do like an explore achievement in game and folks love quest and achievements. Since it still shows the Capitals and Region capitals folks can still get around on the map the same as they do now. Also remember there is some odd time piece item reward listed in the new UI tutorial they have posted. So maybe we will be getting some Map tools to play with. I still think we need more in game navigation tools or just give ups our map cords to plot them. They had these things back in this games time period so never understood other than to please the hard core guys that all used third party stuff any way to navigate was done. Hell most of those players prob aren't even around any more. We need to keep it simple to make it fun for folks that don't want a hard core sail sim game. I spent a good half my life working offshore in one form or another (Navy and offshore oil and gas) and I can tell you I suck at navigation real life and in game (and I'm an eagle scout to boot). Not as bad as letting the 2nd Lt in the Army try to find his way, but yah I'm not good at it. Why should my Captains in game be bad at something I am RL? And yes I call them Captians as I play this game as if I was a fleet commander since I have multi ships spread out all over the place.

Safezone? Yes! For max lvl too? No!
Sir Texas Sir replied to the Kidd's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Do you even RVR? It's not meanless but a good large chunk of the map is stale mated or held by nations in another time zone that don't fight with any one. With a wipe it would bring back owners to active clans and nations. I bet most of the folks against it are cause they know there nation that holds a large chunk of ports isn't as active or strong as they use to be. Ever time there was a wipe in the past folks ran and did port grab. That puts in you in missions where there can be PvP. On global Pirates didn't even try to go after a port for the first week. All we did was sit out side Spanish ports that the US was trying to grab up fast since they won't be contested (it would be the same as neutral ports.) We captured over 17 1st rates that week using mainly 2nd rates and frigates. I'm part of a small clan and we can play in most time zones, but we can't fight 60-70 screens of the mega clans that own most of the shallows or "NEWBIE" Friendly zones. Those ports should not be held by mega clans, they should be left for small clans and nations to fight over. That is why I made a suggestion to have certain ports restricted to clans that own 5 or less or even 10 or less ports. If you own more than 5 or 10 than you can't capture and own those ports. They should be mainly shallow and some none important deep water ports around the map (there are shallows all over the place, not jsut Bahamas). As for the OP makeing zones for certain levels only doesn't work. Just look at the old NEWBIE ZONE In the Bahamas. Most the time it was nothing but RA's running around in H Rattlers killing new players and ganking traders. Hell it made great hunting for us pirates cause most of those RA"s sucked at the game any way. The key to catching them into a trap was to send in a low level alt. I had one that ran shallows for a long time and I never grind any PvE with him. He made most of his levels purely through shallow PvP and than later RvR. I since maxed him out and have anther char I did the same. HE was rank two when I got my first PvP kill when some guy though he gank my privateer. I destroyed his mast (he thought I was just bad shots) and than baorded him using the moral perk and my mods to destroy him in boarding. I done this on other games where I left a char low level in a certain zone cause of folks farming noods. Than watch them cry when they get owned by a lower level char that is actually very modded out and played by some one that knows the game. SO restriting certian zones to certian level chars won't work it will be abused. Specially since alll we have to do to get Master Com rank is to past the final exam in the new tutorial. So ever time I hit a certian rank I can just delete that char and start all over again, do the tutorial and be set mid rank.- 200 replies

Safezone? Yes! For max lvl too? No!
Sir Texas Sir replied to the Kidd's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
And some of those ports are taken ages ago and no one fights over them. We need port wipe to come with next big patched and let’s see which nation/clans are still active. Also from past expierece I gotten a lot of pvp just fighting folks trying to flip ai neutral ports lol. Also we need some sort of port limit in shallows so mega clans can’t own ever port. That suppose to be the area for newer and smaller clans to fight over. Not be owned by one or two clans only. Actually the more nations and clans in an area the more fights you will have if the big boys stay out of it.- 200 replies

I honestly didn't noitce any improved crew kills from the swivels as they tend to hit mast and sails more than anything when your aiming with your lower deck up close instead of clearing decks. It honestly should be a BP not a note so I can make them how every I want and with the new random perks. It should be a 3/5 ship even if it's a trade ship. I still don't know why trade ships are 3/5 now that you have to open there slots. When they where free 3/3 slots it made since you got only three slots, now you have to actualy grind them out they should get 3/5 and the other crafting perks other ships get by being a BP not a note. I thought it was a fun little ship, but I would prob just use the plain one for bait and keep to my renno for hunting random trade ships instead.

Blueprints - you already own....
Sir Texas Sir replied to SKurj's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
It does have a line in the decs, but would be nice if you could maybe trade some stuff back in too. Can we even sale the blue prints on the shop? We just did a mission epic and got tons of the rare BP's for books stacking (rings/gunner) and eventually we are all going to have a copy of them. -
Premium Ship Cerberus? Hmmmmmmm maybe a special painted Cerberus or something?
-
Yah that is my biggest issue with port battles and them saying, "We lower the BR to give smaller clans/nations a chance." Uh no they still have to fight through a ton of screeners if all they can field is the PB fleet they may never make it to the port battle. Any nation can screen another nation out of a port battle even if it's not a port they own. This would be a very tricky mechanic to work around without doing something like Lobbies for port battles which I don't wan't. I prob will put it on at least one char. Now if they will just come out with a name change token or something. I have one char I use to like flipping around names and nations on just to try new things. When I switched nations with him I would make a Nation name that was proper for that nation. Since the wipe we really can't do that unless you delete the char.
-
The causal players and most out there will prob hide these ships, but folks like us that love to RvR and PvP will use them. I have a 4/5 P Frigate Teak Teak Very Fast I'm waiting to open more slots on before I use it (that char is also currently being abused as my hulling mule for nation change from Russia to US). Once I finish opening up two more slots on it I"ll deck it out and will be using it fully. Made a 4/5 Mercury that is for shallow that is ready to fight. I haven't gotten any of the 5/5 but I would use them too if I got one. Why would I hide something that would help me fight better when I can just make another and hope for good luck (RNG does hate me though lol).
