PVE server announcement - final decision

Yah I think they should of just keep to it and made all there resources in one server to develope and be done with it. I mean what folks did they listen to? The whole 100 players on PvE serer? Hell I seen lest than that just in the post on here and steam, but it's mainly all the cry babies that we been seeing post. A lot of guys been on PvP2 this week checking it out and even getting into PvP. They keep doing this, come out with something, than changing there minds and than taking even longer to do stuff. That is why we haven't had a patch in 3-4 months. They should of did this ship wipe things back in Dec/Jan when they first posted about it. Now here it's Mar and they might do it next month.-

Are even better put an in game means to switch nations. Just like they use to have a way to go pirate. Than have a means to go to another nation. A reputation system would work great for this, where your kinda in limbo between the two nations (basically a pirate) until you get your reputation high enough to switch and become fully part of the new nation. Are they could all ways do it like POTBS did at the map reset you could all ways change nations, but all your stuff stays on that chars until next map reset and you switch back. I really think you shouldn't be keeping all your stuff if your flipping around one nation to another. Oh when you delete and make a new char you keep your redeemable you haven't claimed. So one thing to do is just not redeem stuff if you think you might change nations again.

Since this is less work for them I'm hoping this means yes it will mean they can move up the dates on that, but more than likely we are going to find out they aren't going to merge the servers and than well we are prob going have to wait another freaking 2-3 months for a patch of any type. Kinda good cause I hate to say it resources to me seem way to easy to gather and horde on a PvE server that doesn't have the sink of PvP and RvR. The only way they get sunk and needs new ships is if AI sinks them. -
Custom Flags for Clans

I know a lot of us have asked about clan flags. Just like other games the flags will have to get approval. I remember POTBS you had a wait some times a few days or a week before you got approval. Loved the fact we could make our own flags on there. -
Mortar Handbooks

Here is a question on the same topic, how are mortar brigs going to work. Will the handbooks basicly be your skill level from using that ship over and over until you get better and better at it through XP? Has any one even thought of this? If the test server ever gets updated I would be more than happy to get one and test it, but you know that is WEEKS FROM NOW.....- 11 replies

Yah that is the only one I think I seen some one score on. I more thinking have any one even got a mast down or a time in the other too. They are pretty much impossible to do cause it's two vs one and the two ships are higher BR.

Ok how the hell do you merge to servers with totally different conquest going on and not wipe the regions and alliances? I'm kinda confused on this one. If your going to wipe to test things than just do it all so we can properly set up the nations with new players and new alliances. I'm also not likening the fact they have not decided on where the server is going to be located. These are very important things for many of the players that might just stop playing the game all together. And we really need them to drop the patch we should by now from the testbed stuff in place. I'm seeing numbers go down pretty fast as folks think why even play until patch. Well I can all ways go play that other EA game that recently came out where your some half naked folk running around in a piece of cloth....lol

Was that the demast one? Essex vs two trincs? Did you beat it? I been trying them but any time it's two ships vs my one they are one BR level higher and they melt my ship. Than again I have no clue what the default freebie ship is. Again if only a few of us are even beating it right now and not even placing the average joe will never get on there and it will be only the elite players that all ways score.

Yah I tested this some and you get a good chance of that ports resources if you capture them heading out of the port so I think there is some system to it or for once the RNG gods just don't hate me as much as I think they do. When I'm looking for a certain resources and feel like trader hunting I'll pick ports they leave from with that resources. That way odds are even if I don't get good RNG with the NPC's the odds are in my favour I might just catch a player coming out of that port with the mats I need lol -
Fire Ships after the Wipe

The other thing is a lot of folks are wondering how marins and such will be worked. In Russian Q&A they touched over it a bit and something like a limit of 150-200 marines depending on the size of the ship and your skill so you prob have levels of liek 10 or 20 percentage up to the max allowed for that ship type. Though would be nice if some of these things can be answered and we coudl get a Q&A like they do, but when we try it to many folks get off track and ask stuff that will have nothing to do with the patch. I really wish the get the testbed up so we can test this instead of having to wait 2 more weeks. -
If they had it ready they could push the stuff on testbed right now out, but by a few comments I got a feeling they don't have it all ready or we would of seen a testbed by now (it's been almost two weeks since first announcement and suppose we have to wait two more weeks. I was right we are going to prob not see any patch by end 6-8 weeks from that announcement that stated 2-4 weeks. Which means prob late April as I bet they won't make the 19-20 deadline. Hell they haven't even figured out where they are going to put the Global server yet and I'll tell you if they put it in EU they are going to loose even more players. Yah it's been very dead, we are still getting some fights on the OP when we catch guys grinding these ports back up, but we have lost most our numbers as folks go do /OTHER THINGS/ until the patch comes. That and the US/Brits now attacking a bit early when most of us aren't home from work yet doesn't help. We figure let them have it all back to make them happy and we will just have fun when the patch comes. Same thing we did back during the last big patch....and it was suppose to come out in a week but took over a month and the server was so dead by that time.

You can do this in the new server if you stay int he PvE zones. Though I'm going to bet that folks are going to have a fit when they get tagged on the edge of these zones just slipping right out of it into the none safe zones or AFK sailing and forgeting to check there ships. It just means you never have a total safe zone. If they bring the aggresive NPC's (privatters that attack in OW) than I hope they have it in this area too. Sorry folks that just afk sail by point a ship and coming back a few hours later really need to have some fear even if they are PvErs. Hell I do it but I keep my screen open and watch a movie or play some other game on another window, but I'm still watching my ship. And I plan to be in the PvE zone with my flag on so you guys can get some balls and maybe be a bit frisky and attack me. Might just find out PvP isn't as bad as y'all think. I solo played thorugh my first 4 ranks and while I got ganked a few times it was very rare caue I knew not to hang out or trade in hot zones. I also learned real fast how to sail my ships and use the wind against folks so that helps.

If I understand right in the future they will be able to get paints in the shop, port battels (can be traded) and rare drops. Though making the defualt shisp have random paints would kinda be cool so folks can see what they look like before they trade or us one. Though I have issues with the PvE challenges on Testbed. I have yet to beat one with a defualt ship cause the BR diffrence in ship match up is way off. They need to do something about this or you will never see any one but a bunch of elite players wining it and I don't even think they would be able to. I have yet to see any one score a place on any of the challenges. If any one has would like to know which missions and how they did it.

Outlaws Release?

Yah I came up with some things that would work. Even if you just restict the pirates to 4th rates crafting you an still allow them to capture SOL's, but that means any National can't capture them and they would go back to the admirality if one is captured. Than you give the pirates a few more refits like the pirate refit. So for one to capture one it would be rare. Though they would need a good raid system instead of the port battles. Say it's a 12 vs 12 fight and it puts the port in agro for three days where nothing can be produced by the owners. Though the pirates can produce stuff in it those three days. When the timer is up it goes back to the owner. You give pirates Kidds as a capital and make a few ports spread out over the map that is pirates only and can't be captured or used by nationals. Kinda like freeports but they are pirate havens. Turn Mort into a central trade hub instead that is nuetrail to all nations and pirates. There is so much they could do along with a dang reputation system and making the actual Natioanl like pirates Privateers instead of pirates that can fill in other nations port battles if they are working for them. But hay we will have to see, but I'm not getting my hopes up any time soon that pirates will get anything decent. -
Full broad side vs single shot demasting....sounded like it was getting pretty close to a draw (both being demasted) until one boarded the other. I do the single shot demasting when it's a smaller ship. Fast way to take down a trader or small tagger. My biggest problems not solo 1 vs 1 fights with the Ping on PvP1, but it's the spikes and any bigger battles I get into I notice it big time. I realy don't know what servers they use for both locations, but it's the worse ping I have from any games with servers in those areas.

I'm going to be honest with you from the fights and duels we had with those guys. THEY ARE NOT PVE PLAYERS, well not all them.....lol They trolled us and I'm glad they beat our guys on a 4 vs 5 cause some of them needed it. I hate to say it some of our guys need a good beaten to remind them they aren't the top dogs and we are going to get a big eye opener when we get a large population increase. Though maybe most the nationals will be fighting each other that we can just have fun screening port battles and OW PvP. You know go back to being actual pirates and all. Also many of our guys had started as PvE players so I bet you we will find out a lot of them will like it and stick around on the DARK SIDE....while there will be many that will run off to the light side (safe zones). And your making an assumption that he's making a assumption. Hell I'll be blunt and tell you majority of your nation and well the majority of the players are pretty much PvE with how they avoid fights and run or even only fight when the odds are extremely in there favors. But than again those aren't really PvErs those are a bunch of coward carebears. I bet you with the trade that we have to do as players (shops don't sale mats or resources) and the fact they won't have refits and some resources (Live Oak,, Cedar and stuff like that) that will prob only be in the PvP areas. I plan to have an out post set up very close to the PvE zone and do some trading there and of course lots of trade hunting. Though with the restrictions of resources they will need us to get things for them and I'm going to bet the marks are tradable. Some ships and things won't be able to be gotten without the PvP marks so they will be willing to trade for that. I can see it now. I bring them the mats and refits and get them to build ships and such for me. Now here is an intearting thought. How many of the guys that aren't in those nations are going to switch to those three nations so they can have there safe place to play?

Now the big question many of us still want an answer for is where is the PvP Global server going to be located. There was a hint it might be in the US, but the way they keep saying we are still talking about that is starting to get some of us worried about it's location. Cause I'll be honest with you if they put in the EU with the EU server than many folks are going to prob stop playing the game.

They changed the names, but you get PvE marks from doing PvE. You get PvP marks from doing PvP. The Trading notes don't seem to drop for anything, but you can trade in PvE marks for them it seems.

I think a lot of folks are wondering about thier rare BPs is the main thing. I'm going to take it that we get all the other BP's and those are going to be back as drops again we have to gain from PB ship chest or trade in at the Pirate Den shop (since I'm a pirate). The pirate one has the Pirate Frigate BP for trade for trade notes. Was surprised the National shops didn't have a BG like the Aggy in them instead of just the note. We will just have to wait and see what it turns out to be. I really wish they release a patch of what is in test and be used now cause it's getting freaking dead in game.

I don't think they are doing anything special with outlaws, all it is is they pirates will be able to attack each other and that is in the current testbed. I really wish they will give the pirates some true love and make them not so much as a Nation with none of the perks. They really need a real raid system. -
We pretty much have a rule in clan that if your out doing OW PvP hunting than you need to have the signaling perk. I like the current system other than the stupid 20 sec long tag timer. The circle is so small and a lot can happen in 20 secs. If your that close to tag the tag should happen and be done with. They are kinda working on this by changing it to 15 secs, but I truely think 10 secs would be perfect cause if your that close and your tagged you don't need a long timer to let you know. 10 secs is plenty of time. Than throw in the new tagging mechanics with the BR changes and such and I think we are good. I don't support the open timers for the reason folks mention it supports gank feast. The outer circle is what it tooks for a normal ship to get to the cross hairs in 2 mins. I'm sorry if your to far away than your to far away and should of had a more tighter group and your tagger should have signal and maybe area control, which I think should be part of the game and not some stupid perk. If your within that rang you should not be able to magically leave a fight just cause I haven't shot you in a bit. At least coward perk is gone. That crap dove me nuts when I would demast and decrew a ship and than move in to the board and they poof out of the fight cause I haven't did damage to them and was about to hit G.1

We where talking about that yesterday. That most of us in our clan was going to stay pirate, but a few was thinking of going national cause the higher population is going to mean harder to get resources since we won't have as many ports, but we also have alts so we plan to prob roll into one nations with them and just play pirates on the side for OW PvP. It's really all up in the air until we get closer to the merge of who goes where and the population status and of course the alliances that happen. So yah I think I'll keep my main a pirate and maybe my Dane the same, but my second pirate might go national too. Since my Dane is low level was thinking of making him one of the PvE nations to play over in that area. That way I can play as a nation and get into the big RvR stuff and than I can just save my pirate for the fun nights I don't want to do anything as a group or just feel like doing a bunch of trader and solo hunting. Also I got a big feeling with the Pirate vs Pirate mechanics there is going to be a lot of Clan vs Clan clashing in the pirates. While I prob still make a char on the PvP EU server, I prob won't play over there cause of ping unless it's for when I'm bored or if something happens to the global server. That and I will be honest if they put the Global server in EU I'll prob stop playing the game as much.

I remember when Kidd's was attacked last it was something like that 14K and I had like 20K on the char I didn't bring to that fight but the one I had at that battle (I have two pirates) was only like 2K. The problem I have is you can't get points after a port is flipped. They should allow you to get points up to the port battle. This will allow folks to not just jump in that didn't even help when you got folks that helped, but only low numbers. This will also help lock out any folks trying to abuse the system by sending in a crappy ship/low level char to lock up port battle spots, Cause they would have to grind a good chunk of agro to get in. As for the shallow port that folks grind at if it's that high than folks have been doing a lot of grinding and counter grinding so it's going to be higher.
