Powder Monkeys vs. Magazine Access
Sir Texas Sir replied to _Masterviolin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Yah if you have full crew and not having issues. Fire damages your ship by the way and sails. It also depends the ship and where the fire starts at. Though if some one was in a fight and see's you on fire and hits you with a full broad side of grape and puts you into crew shocks how effective you think those crew will be on keeping that fire manageable. I haven't got to play with that to much, but it could be apart of the risk for the extra reload. Now if you want to run a ship like a fireship (without the phoenix figurehead) than some one might take this and remove there survival. By the way why are you even having survival turned OFF? That should be auto on at all time? -
PVP Global Server - Clan/Population Chart
Sir Texas Sir replied to Aventador's topic in Caribbean News
I'm sure the mix of PvP1 and PvP2 guys will get a new feeling of the game for all sides. I for one would love to see the two big guys fight each other so I can be more pirate like and not worry about Conquest stuff. To be honest all we wanted on PvP2 for the most part was a buffer zone of regions and than we would just keep it to PvP in OW, but when no one fights each other it gets boring and you have to take the fight to them. Lets hope we don't see that again. I'm not to worried about this since I'm sure the ones that didn't want to fight will be out number and can't hide behind there alliances. I won't say what side I'll fight but I'm pretty sure as a pirate I'll take advantage of any fighting ya'll have....sharks do get drawn towards the blood. -

I actually think it's a good trade off. You can go the safe route or you can stack them and have a slight chance of BOOM but faster reload. I have both on this mercury I'm grinding right now and lets just say I catch fire EVERY FIGHT. Haven't blown up yet, but I"m on fire pretty much most of the fight lol -
I know you can produce tobacco in North Carolina, but not sure where else. Though that seems to be an important one if folks want to keep producing kits. Remember none of the new crafting stuff is in game so can't craft regional bonuses yet and such. That is what we are waiting on when the get the rest of the patch stuff into testbed. Mecury 4th rank is 3250 xp....doing it right now so I can finish doing the Renom and Than Surprise. Mecury for some reason you need to do 4th rank instead of 3rd to advance on the Renom.

New Repair system - Demasting pointless?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I haven't messed with the ship knowledge one, but the Perk seems to do more than 5% to repairs as I watched a good click or two of my health go up and it was way more than 5% or even lets say 10% if the base is 5%. -

Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Nothing wrong with going into more details. Yah what I'm liking is some of the perks have negative effects. Like they added Moral penality to Hammocks, Magizines get better chance to catch fire. Your pitch/roll I think gets adjusted for Staysails. These are good things to offset certain perks/mods that you can stack. A faster ship should have other bad side effects like bad turning or weaker armor to achieve the maxed out speed. -
New Repair system - Demasting pointless?
Sir Texas Sir replied to Liq's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
What mods where you using? If your doing it with no carpenter or any of the other thigns than yah it might need tweeking, but if your running a bunch of repair perks and mods than it's going to be faster, but your takeing a hit on other things you coudl be doing like more damage. I think it should be a good pratice when we bring things like this up to mention what our set up in game is. Oh and in a battle your still a sitting duck that whole time you where repairing. So some one could of filled you with a lot more holes or boareded you. -

Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Did you notice Hammocks gives you a moral penality and the Mag gives you a higher chance to catch on fire? I like these little extra things they added. I have hot racked on drill rigs, double up on one rack using it only your time off and some one uses while you work and it blows so that would be something like extra hammock moral drop -
Ship Knowledge
Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
I wouldn't say any ship would reach it. Not all ships are fast enough even with the right trim and perks. Though what this means is the Endymion, Renom and other fast ships will be hard capped at 15 no matter what you put on them. Yah pretty much that is the sum of it. We are going to assume there are had caps for reload percentage and other features in the game too. It's one of the ways to fix a problem when folks stack all one type of stat. The other way is to do degradation of that state. Every one you stack on it you get less and less of the percentage. To effect the last couple of stats can be as little as 1% bonus when they started with 10% or something depending on the degradation of stacking. I like hard caps better cause you know no matter what some one can't top that stat. So hard caps are good. -
Ship Knowledge
Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
A hard cap means no matter how many mods you put on that ship it will never reach higher than that set stat. So in the speed case we will never get a ship above 15 knts no matter what mods, wood, trim you put on a ship. -
of course

Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
As Serk said there will be hard caps. We know the speed one is 15 knts but would be nice to know what the others are. Yah Admin was very clear on that cap number as prob going to be the one most folks try to max out first. Notched Angles is a book you can learn and unlocks Ship Knowledges. Some of those others if they are books or have where you click on it and use it they do the same. Not to be confused with a few items that are perm mods like the figureheads and the pumps I found so far. I need to start capturing ships again as it seems the books are dropped from only captures unless folks are getting them for kills too. Can some one confirm this? -
PVP EU new settlers for Spanish colonies
Sir Texas Sir replied to Celtiberofrog's topic in National news
First off want to say best of luck for the OP and there clan. We should be encouraging more players to show up no matter what server they want to play on. Hell I might even make a Spanish char over there as it's one of my long time old fav nations since POTBS days. With that I have 3 chars, so I'll prob have a pirate and two nationals on EU just encase I'm bored and want to do something different during there prime time. That and I have worked all over the world before in my last job so nice ot have that option open to pop in and play on there servers when I'm in that part of the world. Now to figure out the other nation.....French maybe? Cause I know I will refuse to play US or GB (and yes I'm a US based player). PS.....let me know if any one wants to trade labor hours after the merge;)-

New perks feedback/discussion
Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
You do get a restrictions, lack of those skills so you won't have the Double Charge, Double Shot and other things. While your floating with your fleet it's getting shreaded by the players with combat skills. I also ways loved it when we got called hackers cause we where doing so much damage but taking so little. We came in combat ships with combat skills (double charge and ball does wonders). While those other guys showed up in store bought ships with fleets all soft and ripe for the sinking. Unless some one just out number, players are going to beat those AI fleets any day. -
Good to know, I like the concept, just not the grind. IF it was say I want to unlock the Surprise I have to get 2 points in all the other light frigates for my 3rd point. Than 3 points for my 4, or something like that where it's like related ships than I understand. Right now it's basicly saying i have to unlock a tree of ships to get to the one I want to master. So that would be the Renno and the Cerberus which are the other light frigates, hell even the Niagara could be thrown in there. Though group them up with like style ships would make more since than the tree right now and all the grind and don't make it where you have to unlock half a dozen to get one ship unlocked. Make it a slot thing. You need 3 slots unlocked from other ships of that class to move up. Right now the system makes you become a vet in all those ships so you can master one. Most officers didn't got through every ship as they ranked up. Some did have more than one ship, but others only had a few commissions and they went up in ship class cause of there rank more than there experience as a captain. Some of your worse captains also had no experience at all but was given a high rank commission cause of family or money. It's not a few. Just going with the Surprise since I haven't messed with the Connie or Trinc much this is the path as I understand it. Surprise needs you to unlock 3 on the Renomme, The Renomme needs you to unlock 4 on the Mercury, The Mercury needs you to unlock on the Pirvateer, The Privateer neesd you to unlock on the Lynx So effectively I have to go back and play 5 ships and that is if I even got this figured out from others that have been unlocking them and this is only for the Surprise. I think the Trinc you have to go down the other side to the cutter or something. Than you got ships like the Endymion that is needed and we can't even craft that (so far as we know) so you have to find one to capture and than grind it out. That isn't just a few ships. Every time you move up in ship level you have to figure out the tree for it. Way to much grinding and way to complicated. The only folks that will ever master anything are the hard core guys that play all the time.

New perks feedback/discussion
Sir Texas Sir replied to Corona Lisa's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
NO WE DO NOT GET SPECIAL FREE PERKS. This crap is how rumors get spread that we have special stuff. As for perks worth it or not, it's really play style. I used up all my points on most my chars, but i got one with 3 points not used cause I set it up wrong. I didn't have the PvE points to reset it. I'm not going to burn 100 or even 50 now to reset that. And I don't like we have to basicly have a dedicated crafter alt if we want to be a crafter/ship builder cause it cost to much to switch from combat to crafting mode like we do all ready. Crafting perks should be tied to your crafting level not your Rank. -
Post-Wipe will the game be worth playing?
Sir Texas Sir replied to xAzDKr's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
It's to much to type up, but now fleet ships take perk points. IF you where around when they started officer perks? That is what perk points are. You have 10 at max level and if you want 3 fleet ships it's going to cost you 10 points, but you won't be able to take any of the other combat perks. -
Partial removal of fast travel
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Think about how cluster ya'll are on the east side of the map with little room to expand with the other nations there. Center will prob get lost over pirates/brits or who ever else fights it. To be honest a good large group of French can go over there, take Texas and a few others regions and you while have Hull Strength regional, mahogany and other things. It might actually be a better choice to go there than to stay bottle up by your capital. Remember every one else is going to be fighting over new regions in area's close to there home ports. Would love to see the Pirnce de Neuchatel in game, but I don't see that any time soon. Though limit to 6th and 7th rates? WHAT THE HELL SHALLOWS ONLY? I'm sorry we should not be limited that low and many PIRATES WHERE IN BIGGER SHIPS. What you call a Pirate was a Privateer for another nation. So they should be able to be up to 4th rates. Now you want to limit us. Ok I'll limit Nationals back. YOU CAN NOT CAPTURE SHIPS (simple mode is that can't capture SOL). Any ship you capture gets sent to Admiralty and you get paid for it. That is how it worked in the real world. You got a prize not to keep the ship. Now Pirates on the other hand can not craft anything above 4th rate, but we can capture SOL's and keep them. So how about that for Pirates and Nationals? But until we get a raid system of our own, than we can't be removed from the National Conquest system. I love how folks all ways want to limit limit limit pirates, but never give them any perks back. We are all ready limited cause we can't have any one join our port battles or fights. We can't have allainces (well when there was such). Every one is at war with us, but hay it's hard mode right? To be honest other than having a black flag there is no perks right now to being a pirate. -
but still we shouldn't have to pick a combat char or a trader/crafter char. They said there will be no classes, this is basicly making folks pick a class. Now what they should do is have the crafting perks tie in with your crafting level. 50 levels means you get one point ever 5 levels. You than get to pick your crafting perks off that. While you have 10 Ranks and 10 points for you combat perks. That would make more since we aren't suppose to have Classes or Carriers in this game with it being an open sand box. Than I wouldn't mind if I have to pay 50 or 100 PvE marks to reset them.
-
but that is in the future....we want to know about the now....future would be nice but we will worry about that when we get to that stage of the game.

Post-Wipe will the game be worth playing?
Sir Texas Sir replied to xAzDKr's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
For folks to have an AI fleet it cost them 1, 4, 10 points. That is a big chunk of there perks to use. Not to mention you need to leave one of those slots empty if you plan to capture any ships. I have one slot on my chars for capture ships and when I'm doing trade runs i can run two trader at the same time. I think we are going to see way less AI fleets on players cause of how much they cost point wise than we use to other than folks doing big trade runs, but than that just means big juicy targets for us. As for the OP I would say come back and try it, if anything you tried it and can come back later. When I was first playing the game I only showed up every patch to try things out and than left until the next patch. Did that pretty much the first 6 months after EA released. I'll be out there hunting as a pirate after the patch goes live, so the more the better. We got to keep those pesky Nats in line after all. Other wise they will be sailing freely all over the place with there fat looted traders and such. Can't let that be happing. -
Partial removal of fast travel
Sir Texas Sir replied to admin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
I was just thinking about this. What they should do is like how they have the current perks system tied into our rank. You get one point per rank until your rank 10 (Curse/RA). Well do the same for the crafting perks but tie them into your crafting level. Since we currently have 50 crafting levels you can get one point per 5 levels so you have 10 points at level 50 crafter. Than you set those perks for your crafting. Than I would be all for the charge of 50 or 100 PvE marks to reset either one. I also agree with you that we should be able to do our crafting even without sailing a ship to those ports. Most captains had some one at home to take care of there affairs as they might of been gone months or even years in some cases. So why wouldn't I still be able to produce and craft even though I'm not at that port? I still will have to show up with a ship to move the product around if I want, but just for the port to continue to produce and craft I should be able to hop into that port and do my production.-

I think that is one thing a lot of us want to know. WHAT IS THE TREE's for each ship. IF I just have to sail a lync, Merc and Endy than I will start on the Lynx right now, but the problem is no one knows until you do the tier below, than get it to the rank, than you have to do the tier below and than the next one....and by they looks it's more than just 2-3 ships it's half the ships below. What does a light frigate have anything to do with my experience in a heavy frigate. Why am I having to get half skilled at a light ships to be master in a Heavy frigate, this is what I"m not getting. It should be more same class ships not a tree like say..>WORLD OF TANKS< Cause right now that is how I'm kinda feeling this is going and they say they don't want that type of arena style game? I also though we weren't going to have classes and it seems that we are slowly going that way too. Crafting should be a sperate officer perk tree so you can set yourself up for crafting while in port and fighting while out of ports. Not having to blow a bunch of PvE marks every time you wnat to craft a ship or go back to fighting.

If your solo than you should be in trouble, but the problem is folks shouldn't be out by there selves with a 1st rate. The number one way we have caught so many 1st rates over on PvP2 was folks would run and leave them behind. Well next thing you know our little group of frigates are doing a circle jerk around that 1st rate until we can board and capture it. It's not our fault all his buddies left him behind. 1st rates should never be sailed alone. They should have escorts and support. This is what I hope to see when they become more rare to see out. Though I do think they should be more deadly too. IF they have the escorts to keep frigates off it's stern they should be doing deadly damage to any other ships that they might face other than other SOL's
