Patch 14: Part 2 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior
admin replied to admin's topic in Patch notes
Limits inspire creativity and create better experiences. We know you won't like it first but you will like it in the long run. It just will take time to adjust.. Competition is good competing with other players for port control is better than getting VMs for pve. -

We are not sure about it. But we need to force players to rvr. Old players might not like it (and its fine) new players will come on release and will consider this a given. You need 5 people to capture 35-40% of ports on the map. -

it was not clan based and we did not have reinforcement zones before. nations cannot be destroyed with reinforcement zones. spain france britain and usa have huge areas where they don't care about rvr players who are not interested in rvr can just stay in protected zones and buy ships for money. all other nations are hard players who are interested in RVR must get out and rvr, and show skill or cunning. 300+ ports allow every player in the current online to have 1 port -

no taking neutral ports gives everyone a chance to get to top three. There are 311 ports on the map. Goal is to keep capitals safe but give a real reason to sail out. Everyone requested this and here we are. Reason to sail out.. if you are strong attack defended ports. if you are not yet strong attack distant ports, npc ports or weaker enemies. -

you can't be everywhere. Even the most populated nation cannot be at 311 ports at once. We won't give high end content from the green zone any more. Get out and fight. -

You can win the map by attacking shallow water and small BR port battles, never touching the ship of the line. There are 300+ capturable ports on the map -

We see it differently now. High end ships become an ultimate reward for one of the most complex activities in the game. National governments reward their captains and admirals for getting more ports to their nation. To get Victory marks you must get your nation to top 3 position on the leaderboard. Alts will not be participating in this as we are changing the mechanics of how victory marks are received. You will get victory marks ONLY if you got your nation a control point or a battle point this round. Rolling alts to sweden won't achieve anything. Players will have to get out of the green zones and cap ports from other players creating pvp and rvr for everyone. Those who won't can still buy them or capture them. RVR is an important skill based component of the game and we are creating strong incentives to participate. You can forget the old situation that RVR was not important before. It is now. Everyone can get onto top 3 position, if that nation attacks right targets. -

yeah it like basing physics on Newton's The Mathematical Principles of Natural Philosophy or most commonly known as Principa or 3 laws of physics -

You are too scared to realize your real strength. But you will if you try. There is no top nation. All top nations are just 10 captains with gained skill. You can gain that skill too -

PvP marks sell at 200k per piece. PvP more. Or capture a profitable port. It will fund your war efforts -

this can easily be fixed by only granting victory marks to those who has participated in at least one PB. -

Prussia/Commonwealth can dominate other nations if it they do 2 things 1) unite the national clans 2) practice and get better tactically and strategically There will be no snowball effect as a lot of port battles has small BR limits and intercept fleets are easily avoided. There will be no decrease in PVP as players who don't pvp won't pvp anyway. Players who pvp will actually have more pvp as they cannot get advanced ships without conquest. -

if asking questions is a word fight for you we don't know how conversation is possible. But we will try again. If Russia attracted players why did not prussia? Is it national leaders responsibility? or a game responsibility? Why Rovers and LIONS left prussia? @z4ys @Sella22? Why russia gained players ? @Anolytic thoughts? -

Why did you omit Russia from the list. They started from the same empty clean sheet as prussia or commonwealth. -

We have one of the largest private collections of the age of sail books and prints in the world. Perhaps you did not who sir john the clerk was - wiki was the fastest and simplest way to share it with you. Age of sail was not about broadside to broadside combat and sir john the clerk even proven it in his essays on naval tactics. You can replicate it in naval action too. You can try to have line combat but pure line combat allows easy escape and indecisive results (Battle of ushant, glorious first of june); decisive victories come from maneuver, disablement and general melee allowing to rely on individual skill and not station keeping. -

epic broadside duels in lines is not Age of Sail. epic broadside duels were discredited by Sir John the Clerk https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Clerk_of_Eldin Majority of references show ships fully or partially demasted during battle and beautiful lines led to nothing (which was proven by Sir John the Clerk of Eldin). Battles where fleets tried to keep the beautiful lines ended up with no results. Perhaps you are mixing up age of sail with ww1 battleship combat where keeping the line came back to importance. -

Unite with other clans within your nation. Nations have to unite within themselves first. -
Changing the weekly conquest competition
admin replied to Demsity's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
they can we just need to withstand the initial hate storms. re-introduciton of pvp marks (that were hated initially) went fine after they were introduced the second time. same will happen with victory marks. Nations will understand that they have to unite and work together instead of sitting on their ass in pve on a conquest server -

Its not a bad thing at all. Its a forum - forum (vague translation) a place for opinions. Disagreeing does not mean ignoring. We disagree with your opinion but we never ignored it. We tried Victory marks for everyone and they did not achieve what we want. -

We are interested in opinions of the supporting base but will push our design if we disagree with those opinions. ps legends is a side offshoot of a proven tested design (sea trials). NA is still a main game. -

100k ? You get 200k by selling 1 pvp mark. (This is a pvp server remember?). There are multiple activities players can chose in the game. The question "why should I and my friends capture the port" did not have a clear answer before - now it has a clear answer; a goal.
