  1. I think this is a good idea. However, one small problem would be that you can still sell war supplies to the NPC in an enemy port and then the other player can immediately buy the supplies back from the shop. Edit: Or just place a contract at a stupid price and return the gold

    Pretty Pictures

Pretty pictures from my sailing adventures. A work in progress.
  3. I fully agree, port battles are my favorite part of the game. However, I personally think we should aim for open world PvP as the major driving factor in hostility generation.
  4. The argument for using war supplies seems to be that all hostility generation is PVE generated anyway, so may as well use a hostility bomb. I strongly disagree; the PVE missions are generating at least some PVP. There have been several 25 v 25 fights around the windward islands. Hostility bombs generate none whatsoever. The strength of this game lies in the combat. Hostility bombs move the game further towards trading and crafting, the weakest aspect of the game in my opinion. Also, saying Nation X would/wouldn't have done this or that Nation Y is crying about it is not helpful; we should be concentrating on whether this mechanic is good for the long term health of the game.
  5. It is down and the game is constantly crashing in the login queue for me. I logged in, got a popup saying I'd been banned from global chat (I've never posted there...), then my client crashed and I can't log in again.
  6. Although there is no ETA, which I understand, it may be useful to have a date by which the patch definitely won't have arrived yet. E.g, let us know that we have at least until September xth to move our ships, although the patch may end up being later. Changes look exciting.
  7. I enjoyed the event, the build up and speculation about what the weather report meant was fun for me. In terms of generating PVP, I think there were a couple of problems. 1) If you saw a ship coming back from the wrecks, it wasn't worth gambling a 1 hour fight where you might not cap him, or accidentally sink him, when you could gamble on picking up a wreck yourself. 2) Maybe a partial solution would be to give flags in the open world, like there are for conquest flags, for players that are carrying a chest. 3) Perhaps indicating when the wrecks are empty could also encourage more pvp, as you can then switch entirely to hunting other players. Overall, enjoyed it and look forward to seeing what adjustments are made.
