Patrol Zone Changes

I like it. Theme of the patrol zones is to get in, sink or be sunk and then rinse repeat. This excessive kiting just serves no one. -
Intentional Griefing in Patrol Zone
Christendom replied to Christendom's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
Will do. Going in I assumed one battle wasn’t going to be enough, but just wanted to see what the mindset from up on high was in regards to just joining and immediately running. This player in particular has a special desire to purposely waste peoples time and I’m sure there will be future cases in the next shallow patrol. Keep this one open if you don’t mind. -
its called the "chase LGV refits around ctown build".

If some of you did't notice yet, I made a tribunal post against a player that was intentionally joining patrol missions in a trash upwind ship and sailing immediately to the edge of the zone in an attempt to waste peoples time inside the battle. He doesn't join to farm damage, he does virtually none. He doesn't have repairs. His own teammates said he think's he can sail around for 50mins and avoid us. The thread is here. In my opinion the point of the patrol zones is to brawl it out and sink/damage as many players as possible. Rinse repeat until you've had enough or you max out on the damage you needed. I acknowledge that kiting is a valid tactic in most of the battles in NA, but immediately joining a battle that was more or less over and sailing away instantly seems to go against the spirit of what the patrol zones aim to accomplish. Quick, fast paced and guaranteed battles. So with that in mind, I would like to propose to following changes to the patrol zones as whole. Minimum BR (80) of ships that can join a battle in progress. This should limit any sort of griefing in basic cutters or small ships. I know every one has been in a battle where a dude in a basic cutter just kites outside the circle. Players should not be able to join in free ships with free repairs anyway. Pay to play. Once the battle zone shrinks and no further players can enter the battle, Introduce a damage dealt timer to players. If they have not shot a sail or done hull crew damage in 5/7/10 minutes, they instantly die as if they were outside the circle. This will ensure that players don't go overboard on kiting and other players time is not wasted. Since no more players can join, the tactic of kiting and waiting for backup is no longer necessary. Lets get both sides of the battle out of the fight and back on the OW as quick as possible and maximize the fun. As the battle zone shrinks it'll be even easier to hit sails with shot and assuming your opponent didn't just outright join and sail to the edge. If the player goes beyond the circle to avoid getting hit, he dies anyway. Thoughts?

Intentional Griefing in Patrol Zone
Christendom replied to Christendom's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
So yea, I don't really care how nice of a guy he is or what he's done against others in fights. I've personally dealt with him over discord and found him a decent guy. I've got no malice towards him. However, this is clearly griefing with the intent to just waste people's time. This is not a hostility mission where his goal is to delay the enemy. This isn't a random OW PVP encounter where you just show up and shoot sails and slow down people inside of it. The entire point of of the patrol zones is to brawl it out and do as much damage as possible. Joining a battle in progress in a small light ship and immediately sailing to the other edge of the circle and staying put does not show a clear sign of intending to fight. He was clearly upset at the fact that the US screened out several of his nation an hour earlier outside green cay and decided to dick around in battle for the fun of it. He joined a battle late where his side was already heavily out numbered and mostly sunk, clearly he wasn't there to do damage or change the outcome of the fight. Just to grief. Throw this in along with other player's comments and his other favorite tactic of staying in port battles intentionally that he's lost for the full 15mins, it displays a pattern of intentionally griefing. I've even tried to contact him directly about the PB thing (I've seen him do it 5-6 times now) and ask him why he does it. No luck. I don't care if the guy is punished or not, but changes need to be made to the zones to discourage this type of behavior. @Hethwill @Ink I think we've gotten enough feedback, can we lock this thing down? -

You joined this battle and immediately started sailing away towards the edge, if you were previously engaged in another fight why did you join this one? Seems weird right? You block the enemy team from docking up into port. As long as 1 person on either side is still in the battle the attacking team cannot dock up and repair, or call it a night. This can be used to keep the attacking fleet on the water and allow screeners to mess up their day. Sometimes you have to leave immediately right after the Pb, people are sinking and stuff. Or people simply need to go. -
Intentional Griefing in Patrol Zone

I get this tactic in hostility missions, regular PvP fights and even port battles. Kite, outlast, waste time and survive. Ok I can deal with that. But the patrol zones are there for one reason. Do as much damage as possible and collect PvP marks. Joining a patrol battle and sailing to the other side is just being a dick and wasting other people’s time. I have expressed to you multiple times now lucky through PM and battle chat asking you to stop these antics. Every single port battle you are in you just sit inside be battle for the full 15 mins after battle over. Every single time. What’s funny is it seems other folks have had the same experience. -

I'd like to test the waters here and see what qualifies as intentional griefing. Feel free to discard if it does not qualify. Player - LZT1209 // LuckyL - GB He joins patrol zone missions in a store bought lynx, sails to the edge of the circle away from the fight and just sails back and forth waiting for us to sail to him. Once we sail over he just kites away. Wasting our time. In 3 battles in a row now he just does this over and over. This player also has a history of sitting in every port battle after it is over until the 15min timer is up. Every single time. He usually runs 2 accounts at the same time, if one player gets tagged he joins in on the other one and sails away. He comes towards us, then runs back to the circle. Clearly if he was here damage as intended in the zone, he would be shooting and attempting to damage hull. He does not. Clearly he knows what he's doing and this is just sport for him. Does this qualify as intentionally griefing? He's not out damage farming. He had no repairs when we looted him. He picked a lynx for the upwind profile and he of course had the recently sunk X. If this was a one off thing, ok cool. But every single time?

Friendly Trading List

Then KPR or other nation capitals have everything that can satisfy your needs. If you want to access the benefits of RVR like white oak/live oak/teak and rare trading resources, I think you should at least contribute to the RVR process in some capacity? Or you pay higher prices in capitals. Does that sound outlandish? I don’t think so. Another solution in this system would be you and your sons create a clan, if you haven’t already, and talk with port owners that you want access to and work out an accommodation. Stock them with repairs or certain resources. In short communicate with other players. That’s what multiplayer games are all about. Almost every single solo or very small clan I’ve seen show up in this game have fizzled out after a couple months or repeatedly just come and go to see what’s new. I’m sure there are exceptions, but not many. Lets use the great @Iroquois Confederacy For example. Where is he now? When was the last time we heard from him? Solo players have their place, but if you want clans to capture all these ports for you they should ask something in return. You mentioned screening....sounds ok to me. -

rediii and havelock sure....but Otto? Laugh. My opinions on this are perhaps a bit jaded. Too little too late. I've seen active and constructive members of the community receive bans for having unpopular feedback or their posts deleted for being "off topic". The swinging dick, we don't care about feedback mindset has been prevalent here for a while now. Community reps have been requested for a couple of years now....why the sudden change? Why after the loss of a large part of the player base and a couple hundred negative reviews why are community relations now suddenly a good idea? Don't get me wrong, I've always been in favor of some sort of Community Rep system that helps filter the dialog between developer and the player base, but it just seems like maybe this should of been done a while ago before a large portion of the community got pissed and moved on. Anyway some of the stipulations mentioned here are unrealistic. No bans or national news trolling posts? Most active players on the forums AND in game can put their names down in either column if not both. We need reps who are going to be active in game as well as on here, easy to contact and talk to, willing to hear other opinions and most importantly, someone the devs will actually listen to. -

I'm of the opinion that despite some questionable decisions in the development of this game, it is still a MMORPG. Emphasis on multiplayer. Getting players out of KPR and involved the national effort, helping defend or stock up ports is called content creation. Something we sorely need more of in this game. If a solo player wants to get into a port owned by another clan and purchase goods that particular clan pays to maintain, he needs to either be friendly with the clan, negotiate well or provide a service. I see nothing wrong with this mindset. There are far too many players in this game who fizzle out because of their stubborn refusal to join a clan and help organize towards a combined effort somewhere. If they want to go live the solo lifestyle, go be a pirate. There is also a disparity in effort expended and rewards given. Clan X grinds up a port, gets players together to win the port, put the effort for ships and supplies and then pays the bill to maintain that port. A random national player can just go in there and do whatever he wants with little regard to the effort that clan took to capture and maintain that port. If some clans are ok with that, they don't need to restrict anyone. If some clans aren't, they should be allowed to choose who enters their ports and uses them. -

A the very least these people need to be active on the forums AND in-game. We very seldom see green text in global chat these days and the trash talking almost always gets out of hand. -

good way to get some the loafers in nations out there supporting the national effort. Don't show up and help defend my ports, you don't get to purchase in them. -
Had a good scrap outside of KPR tonight. Not a really note worthy fight, but it's rare to get an equal numbers and close BR battle these days. Props to the brits for coming out.

Attempted griefing by Lord Bomgordel
Christendom replied to --Privateer--'s topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
Disinformation and deceit while lamentable, are part of the game and not tribunal worthy IMO. I think admin has said to never believe what you read in nation or global The “10 inches deep in my rear” is an interesting comment though... not a good look for any potential newer players or kids. -
Not sure it really adds to the immersiveness of the game all that much....considering each ship has unlimited repairs in battle and magical thickness or speed mods. I agree with no ship names in the patrol zone though. Now if had a system where nation flags were on the back of the ships and each ship had a name or players name on it and you could ONLY see it with the spyglass, that would be immersive. These days it seems like we're just trying to throw any idea that will fix PVP to the wall and hope it sticks, rather than actually addressing the real problem in the game....the lack of people. PVP will never be fixed until the population goes up and to do that we need more content or serious revisions to the current content.

Alt abuse gaining control of port
Christendom replied to Grundgemunkey's topic in Tribunal - Трибунал
Except I wasn't taking ports from one character to another and using mechanics to exclude members of either nation from participating in those battles. This is an apples and oranges type of comparison here. My US character was used to grind up ports at 7am along with 20 other members of the US while my Russian character remained offline and wasn't anywhere near or actively involved. I keep the division of the 2 characters so great in fact that when the US attacked a Russian port on a different occasion, I did not participate on either side. This was all deemed acceptable behavior because the interests of my 2 characters did not align and I wasn't manipulating RVR. The current situation here is a bunch of alts continue ownership of a port, kick out friendly clans off the roster and then grind up the port with their mains in a different nation and have more or less, an empty port battle. This is a textbook case of RVR manipulation between alt characters. I don't care what nations have done it in the past, but it needs to be dealt with now.
