Except Prussia doesn’t get new players or at the very least it doesn’t get new players on the scale most nations do, in particular the US and GB. You also don’t get players who are strictly PVE minded at proportionate amounts the other nations do. Your simple comparison to Prussia does not apply here, it’s not apples to apples. Admin even said it himself at some point. When you get rid of the safe zones and creature comforts people leave. It’s common sense. I don’t want safe zones. I don’t need them. I don’t mission or craft or farm books. I want to roll out everyday and sink brits until I find the ever elusive Capt Hardy alone on the water. One day maybe....But that’s my style of play and forcing others how I want to play is not good business. I’m also intelligent enough to realize that if I had it my way and myself and others could club seals to our hearts delight we would eventually run out of seals. I just wish others were smart enough to realize that too. The focus of future development should be figuring out how to get folks out of the safe zones and into those nice juicy unrestricted waters. Not trying to put more players, enemy or friendly, back into the zones.

The best way to retain new players is to ensure they turn into old members. Being ganked quite literally 20seconds outside KPR is not the way to do it. With the most recent change to safe zones the player population has been down significantly. I don't think this is a coincidence. Newer and the more casual type of PVE players need areas where they can do their thing or they just piss off to other games, which is pretty much what keeps happening with Naval Action. All these hardcore pvpers always come out of the woodwork to save their seal clubbing territory, but never do seem to find the time to fight each other. Odd that. This clan changes won't bring players back to the game or sell more copies. The changes they're talking back are pretty much basic quality of life stuff most MMOs already have. Unfortunately our near sighted players can't see the forest for the trees and only want to improve their style of playing rather than the overall game. Instead of working on ways to move players out of the safe zones and into the OW for PVP opportunities we just keep nerfing the safe zones for short term gratification.

Historically these would be guilds.

And don't get me wrong I want the game to succeed, I enjoy playing it. But if the devs simply ignore every review as "the haters" they'll never improve the game.
-
Actually I think the reviews are highly representative. This game is adversely difficult for new players and offers them zero protection to appease an "elite" group of PVPers that refuse to fight each other and just want soft targets. Majority of the reviews I've read describe how difficult it is to simply do anything. It's not intuitive and sailing 15 seconds out of your capital/starting zone you can get ganked. This game simply isn't new player friendly. And ya know what, we don't have new players. Go figure.
-
I disagree. If you're asking money your alpha pre-release game you open yourself up to reviews and opinions. If you dismiss the reviews, as the devs do, as sour grapes and "blackmailing" you discredit any validity or truth the reviews might contain and never change how you develop. They only want yes men. Yes men won't help the development of this game. Which kinda explains why 2 years after I started playing NA it still doesn't feel like much progress has been made and just old ideas get rehashed over and over. Remember when the devs said they would give us more ships if they got more steam reviews? That's actually blackmail.

Nice try pirates, it seems the Prussians were reluctant to fight and left most of WTF to get slaughtered. Unfortunately the combined Franco/Prussian/Pirate fleet of 25+ outside tagged a couple of us on the way back. Overall good fun #creatingcontent

Regardless of your opinion in regards to North/Russia/Myself our little wars generated a shit load of content. With it's demise, Russia has left pretty big void in activity. -

I think the lack of players at night has kinda slowed everything down. Hard to get excited to do anything as numbers continue to dwindle. I’m getting that vibe we used to have prior to the wipe. -

Not yet. After the events of the past day or 2, maybe we will be soon. We've hit the brits a lot lately, new targets sound like fun. And we would prefer a deep port. Indiamen carry more wood. -

An easy solution would be to let us have Apalachicola. Russia is fine with the US taking it. Spain is not, I am unsure why. We would like a deep water port so we don't have to haul everything in traders brigs and create double the work. Apalach means nothing to Spain, they already have a couple white oak ports. -

Yea it's obvious that their fear of King of Crowns is what drives this. They don't want us to have a port close to the french because it might upset them. Seems they care more about the interests of the french than the interests of their oldest ally since the wipe, the US. This is fine though. -

If our friends aren't using it? I see no reason. The biggest issue is why is Spain against the US gaining a port up in the gulf for white oak. We are supposed to be allies right? I fail to see the hostility Spain has for the move. I just spoke with the Russians and they would like to give us the port, only Spain won't let them. Why? All of your Teak, Live Oak and White oak ports were given to you by your friends Russia. I know, I helped take most of them from GB. My clan even gave 7up/Jags the port of Little Cayman that is currently his only source of income. I do not get the hostility from him and Spain at all. With your recent declaration against VCO perhaps it's time to find new allies. -

Luckily Spain backed down and did not screen. 🙂 Russia/Babay showed up and there seems to be a communication issue, so we did not fight them for the port. Situation remains unresolved for now. If Russia would like continued help screening at Bermuda, we would like Apalachicola for white oak. I hope they remember that Spain did not show up to help the last time Bermuda/Secret islands were attacked. -

There is no internal power struggle within the US. Rax does his thing, we do ours. We help as needed. He is currently violating no directives from the US senate in flipping Apalachicola as Russia does not want to port and will receive assistance up at Apalachicola from other clans. If you choose to attack him, you attack the rest of of the US. No one controls anyone within the US. Our Senate is merely to discuss ideas and let our imaginary paper leaders feel important. The fighting clans control their own destiny. Live free or die. This was changed yesterday prior to my post. It seems we are already at war. VCO didn't fire a shot or flip the port. https://gyazo.com/768090e30a390ca8d9537c659577dad5 I am making no threats, just simply stating what will happen should Spain decide to screen out our forces. If Russia decides to defend the port, then that is a different matter. Petrus sinks US players on a daily basis outside our capital. -

Yea if this is a critical hour for Russia maybe you should help them screen out the ports the do want..rather than screening out another ally from a port Russian doesn’t want. Just saying -

Ah the Graf pr machine starts. I made a declaration of intent. Not war. I believe it was you who tagged Arch. He was simply grinding a port and did not expect Spanish hostility towards him. He didn’t want to fight you. As REDS no longer exists, we contacted the remaining active players in Russia. They said OK. If REDS would like the port to go to Spain they can simply defend it and I’m sure Rax will back off. Rax doesn’t run the nation and neither do I. —— This back and forth semantics crap no longer interests me so I’ll just be blunt. Screen the US guys out today and we’re at war by your hands. Don’t screen us out and we’re cool. I leave the decision entirely at your feet. -

Oh I’m aware. Last time I attacked Spanish ports we took Remedios at night and caused the entire nation to quit. I’m not particularly worried. Spain has had a bone to pick with me from way back when. I’m used to it. Whats kinda funny is I was actually in the PB to take Appalach from you guys (GB) as well as other Brit ports in the gulf because Spain was unable to take them from you. While I agree that the alts in our little allied group here might muddy the waters a bit, none were involved directly with the current drama. The only reason he’s there is because I like the 7up and former the Russian guys. Should it come to blows with Spain I would remove my guy to another nation to keep things on the up and up.
