As requested by multiple nations, the US will be hosting a Diplo meeting on US TS this Saturday 1/28 @ 15:00 GMT (10am EST). Members from every nation are encouraged to show up, I am posting this here on National news so every nation is aware of the meeting. Prior discussions between some of our nations have excluded some members for various reasons and this aimed to be an all or nothing show. As promised in another meeting earlier this week, This will be the US attempt to TRY get the ball rolling towards a healthier player base and help ensure the longevity of the game (despite the devs best attempts to end it..). This will also be the only attempt by the US to bring others to the table, should these talks degrade into the usual history lesson on who did what, US players should play on PVP2 bullcrap, we will not initiate and participate in any future meetings of a similar nature. This is it boys and girls, show up and put your money where your mouth is or stop whining on the forums. Your opinions and general whine will not be listening to on this thread, please don't muck it up with bullshit. PM me through here or in-game if you have any observations to make or need the TS info. ps - I have no idea why those #2s are showing up or how to delete them...

I said exactly the same thing on TS yesterday. I brought it to the US council last night about a possible alliance shift and it's not an option. Perhaps it's more simple for you hopping around from nation to nation, it's not so for us. The US would never switch. I personally would switch nations if need be. Port timers will not be your salvation. Careful what you wish for
-
I agree with you and in an ideal world this is how the alliances SHOULD pan out. Perhaps a month ago an alliance swap would of been possible. Unfortunately the Danes felt like threats would somehow be the best way to negotiate with the US. An alliance with the Danes will never be possible. That's not on us. The Danes gave only their arrogance to blame. I'm not sure if an alliance shift would actually save this game from piss poor dev relations, perhaps only delay the inevitable. Perhaps our only solution would be to hope for a server merge and an influx of players from every time zone.

I see you grabbed the most important detail of my post. Well, at least we can say we tried to be reasonable. Continue to troll and be obtuse on here. It solves everything.
-
your videos, pics and flippant attitude are amusing, but I recall what you said in TS last night when it was just us. Fun aside I realize how much this situation is bothering you. I hope you all so realize klooth that your trolling, constant insistence in EU only servers and general douche antics on the forums and in this game is one of the reasons you're in this situation. Joke all you want It will not improve the game. Check your ego and maybe we can work something out. We didn't do this to you guys, you did it to yourselves. Put something out there on the forums saying, yea this this and this was fucked up Our bad Let's work on building a better community. Or continue posting your funny comments and cute little jabs at the US and enjoy watching the rest of us keep on enjoying this game.

oh look another thread about night flips destroying the game. Meanwhile "for the sake of the playerbase" didn't seem to be a topic of discussion during the 7 war supply drop, the 3 points at once attack on the US a month ago, pushing the dutch down to one region, US down to one region multiple times, 1st rates into 4th rate battles...blah blah blah. Insert any number of grievances. When your side is winning, all is fair. When our side wins the mechanics need to be changed. This shit is getting old. The Danes fucked up over the holidays. They tried to negotiate with the US and force them to give up their advantage in this game under threat of losing a number of our ports, including our 2 main crafting hubs. Your arrogance led you to believe you could bully us into giving into your demands, you chose poorly. You pissed in the wrong fucking guy's cheerios. I told NorthViking in our meeting that there would be repercussions. Well, here they are. We expected you guys to last longer than a month. Guess not. Please note we have not used double or no show tactics against other nations during the evening and we don't plan to. I told North that we would beat you. It seems we have. Prior to Klooth joining our TS last night to hash things out, I was a little sympathetic to the Danes and their situation. He basically told us that the danes are going to take their toys and go home because we're not playing fair enough for them. Danish RVR is dead or so we've been told. We'll see in the next couple days here. I thought better of the Danish nation honestly. I didn't think it would take one night to break them and have them go cry to the devs to change things. I'm honestly disappointed. I quite frankly have no interest in fighting empty port battles. If the Danes stop showing up, we will stop. If they offer some form of official surrender or public apology for their treatment over the holidays we stop and they get their strong hull port back. Agree to our terms, or don't. I don't care. The US will not be changing alliance partners and will not limit our attacks to just the weekends. You come at the king, you best not miss.

Content plans for the first half of 2017
Christendom replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
I think the goal would be to help sustain a game that we all enjoy and HOPE keeps on going. I wouldn't have a problem dishing out an extra 15-20 bucks to help fund the game if they come up with something interesting. -
PvP1 versus PvP2 Performance
Christendom replied to Elric's topic in Patch Feedback and General discussions
Your FPS has nothing to do with your ping and everything to do with your computer's performance as previously stated. For reference, I can run multiple instances of the game. 2 at 60FPS each or 3 with 1 at 60 and 2 at 30. I usually scale the graphics down if doing more than 2. For some reason this game never peaks above 90 FPS for me on one client, but I think that's just the game as my box is extremely spec'd out. As a US player I usually get 120 ping. In large battles, in particular 1st rate ships I get minor delays mostly on the server side of things. 25v25 in a densely packed 1st rate battle it seems like everyone has a minor delay regardless of where they live. I don't think GameLabs is running primo hardware on their end. I'm told back when the servers would see 2000 people a night that there would sometimes be 30mins queues, which is rather pathetic. The delays i've seen in the big battles are only graphical as the shots would all hit, but represent themselves on the screen a second or so after shooting. On multiple occasions I've seen a number of US players have routing issues to wherever the PVP1 servers are, which also leads me to believe that gamelabs is renting out some 2nd rate gear from some not very good providers. Using a VPN which fix whatever routing issues those players had at the time. Ping isn't always the end all be all of gaming, you can have 70fps with terrible packet loss and it would be worse than being on a 200ping server. For the purposes of Naval Action 120 ping is fine, 95% of our gameplay doesn't require twitch movement and I'm fine with the occasional rubberbanding on OW if it means I get to play with more than 30 people a night.- 20 replies

um.... to use a quote from one of my favorite shows. "Decisions are made by those who show up". Show up for both wilmington and abaco and we won't need to give one up.

Screening action and rewards
Christendom replied to admin's topic in News Announcements & Important discussions
A well intended idea to a definite problem, but not really the solution we need. Reduce the ability of players to log out under the swords and screening fights will magically start happening again. We also need to be honest and perhaps at the risk of mud slinging the screening issue only seems to be an issue for one nation. Every other nation, regardless of their side sails to the battles. A simple word from the admin saying "hey this isn't allowed" should be enough to solve this. If it keeps happening reverse the outcome of the PBs. I've said it a couple times on various threads, the beauty and appeal of this game lies in NOT having leader boards and in the thrill of the hunt and chase. Adding more would simply be another bandaid on a wound that needs stitches and another step in the direction towards an arcade game similar to WoT or WoW. Not a fan. -
To be fair to KoC, I did a 1v1 with French HR in the shallow PVP zone. Both of us were in similar ships, myself in an old build HR him in a new one..but Agile hull. Both carros. I went for round shot on the hull and he immediately went for grape. He was firing grape into my sides and after maybe 2-3 passes I had lost 30ish crew. Luckily with the hull damage I had been doing my grape was obscenely more effective once I ended up switching to grape and it made up the difference quick. In the end I think he sunk with 19 crew and I had 39. I controlled the wind in that fight and it was very seldom if at all he was managing to get full grape broadsides across my deck (enclosed deck mind you) with almost no armor down and still killing 10ish crew a pass. While I'd normally agree with the crew loss if I was in a niagra or merc, a heavy rattler is a considerably different ship. Overall I just really don't like the grape to win style of fighting that shallow boats have become. A night or 2 before my 1v1 occurred we took on a similar in numbers pirate group of about 5-6 and most of them in niagras. We utterly de-crewed them in minutes and if it wasn't for an almost immediate fireship we wouldn't of even been close to having losses. The niagra is a fun ship to sail, or used to be. Not anymore.

guess so.

NEVERMIND. it popped up, albeit 20mins later. (it was nearly instant last night)

Looks like I show up as #10 on my screen on the leader board, but did not receive the redeemables. This is for the shallow battle that ended at 23:00. I'm fine if I actually wasn't #10, though I probably wouldn't of left the zone and kept hunting for the last 20mins or so.

PVP Events - how many
Christendom replied to admin's topic in Current Feature Improvement Suggestions
Hey Admin I was thinking about the events while at work today, and while I didn't particularly like the "shipwreck events" that you guys had a couple months ago, I don't think I've ever seen the server as full since then. Despite the whinging and whining on the forums, people showed up. Can't really say the same for that now. These PVP events are killing open world pvp for the couple hours they spawn, in an time when its difficult to even find OW pvp. The server needs some life pumped into it, it's starting to flatline. Any possibility you could bring these shipwrecks back? Back in the age of sail days, there would be merchant man fleets of a couple hundred ships with escorts. Especially in the English channel. Maybe put a twist on the shipwreck fleets and have an event where a "large" (insert nation) fleet has been spotted outside a certain area and then the home nation/allies need to escort and the other nations intercept. Have loot be on the ships, people with the most amount of kills or whatever get chests...blah blah you get the idea. Couple dozen AI ships, make it a large social battle or something that lasts for a couple hours, some AI big ships that are helping guard. Every one piles in. snatch, grab or fight it out. One big ugly mess. Just a thought. -
No easy solution honestly without having to rework numerous things. To limit the in and out of port hoppers (aka doing the petrus shuffle....) I'd suggest a 30 second re entry timer and then don't allow ships directly leaving port to attack for 30 seconds. Once you pop out, you're out for 30 seconds. I still like the suggestion I made in the night flips thread about changing how battles are spawned, which would solve the logging out under the swords issue. Maybe have something where hostility needs to be generated to "unlock" a system (which would prevent multiple flag pulls) and then expand the old flag system to actually trigger the port battle within an expanded set of hours set by the the port owners where the attackers need to run in the flag within that window, also helping the "night flip" issue. So lets use Savannah as an example. - Attackers run up hostility via missions, war supplies or pvp. 100% region unlocks. - Region triggers a port battle flag (conquest flag?) 46 hours later. Lets made the window last for 4 hours - Attackers need to escort the flag in and trigger the battle within the time set.

Christendom replied to pellasgos's topic in National news
not sure where exactly I claimed anything, but ok. I was in San Augustin with the man himself Pellasgos. The majority of us in Strong Hulls. It's not our fault you sent us the B team and old ships. And it's not our fault you guys can only field 1 "good" port battle team. The talent seemed to be spread pretty evenly on our side throughout the ports. Bermuda was obviously the weakest due to the lack of American involvement :-) Basically, get better allies or don't spread yourselves so thin.-

Christendom replied to pellasgos's topic in National news
50 first rates (and it wasn't even close to 50, your maths is bad) is a fair trade for the absolute utter humiliating loss of 9 ( or was it 10?) port battles over the past couple weeks + at least 50 ships of various rates sunk on Weds alone. Transporting war supplies parts on Brit alts...fishy Crafting parts on US alts....really fishy Mysterious players joining US/Brit sides in port battles and said players seen sailing in company of danes later in the week......very fishy Losing 10 port battles in 2 weeks......Priceless.-

Christendom replied to pellasgos's topic in National news
Americans were at bridgetown and san augustin. At bridgetown one of us took out about 10 ships w/ a fireship inger. Sounds like it was a battle changer. At San Augustin the US screeners kept out at least 4 first rates from getting in, I THINK capping one or 2. Another instant battle changer. It's smack in the middle of our work day, so US participation as low....but it doesn't matter. YOU CAN'T STUMP THE TRUMPS!-
