GB will rise again! Just look at BF.. once Captain reverse started teaching new players his clan exploded. Just take 4-5 players with you to pvp and teach them what you know. they will bring more people. I am sure there are 100s of players looking for mentors in britain and are tired of unprofessional fleet commanders. -

we want to change it but we doubt it will have the same effect as tutorial and localization. and we will not make mistake of last year where we were focused on rvr instead of new player experience. So i guess you will just have to wait. -
Patch 14: Part 3 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior

cross nation clan alliances create too many problems for pvp and other systems. These problems were identified by players in the post where we announced the possibility. we dont want to solve them at this stage and will focus on entry level priorities. so here is the workaround. if you are so much in love with the enemy nation clan and want to snuggle with them in port battles - Change Nation and join that clan friendlist. Its just 8 clicks to close outposts and maybe 20 mins to sail to a freetown. Permanent forger will be available soon as a DLC. All forged papers people have on hands will be removed as they are properly tested now. -
Patch 14: Part 3 experimental patch increasing realism in ship behavior

mechanical alliances were great on paper but they killed real player interaction (in an MMO). voted mechanical alliances ARE NOT COMING BACK. Players will have to open their mouth and talk with people in RL like age of sail politicians had to. with their mouths. Naval Action is an experience. So go out and ally with people using conversational skills if you want to ally with people -

we found that alliances actually reduce pvp moreover they remove human interaction and politics (which is very enjoyable).- 335 replies

It is different now - you can debuff the speed through structure, its easier and more effective than mast shooting. Lose half structure and you lose up to 70% speed

true. Speedometer is absolute. So it also adds side movement speed to the number. We might fix it later and provide separate sideforce speedometer some day. -
we are not saying demasting is fully balanced. In previous post we just responded to captains who claimed that demasting is unrealistic and not historical (never happened)
-
When we are growing up we accumulate brain patterns. Patterns that we like and recognize and if something does not fit the pattern we think that something is wrong. But in this case your brain pattern is wrong. Somewhere in the past you read something or played something where ships only shot at hull and that was it. Maybe it was total war or age of sail 2 where they had minimal demasting due to old tech and conservation of fps. That pattern stays and its hard to defeat it. But with time it will change. Like accepting the fact that age of sail ships could sail backwards. Or accepting demasting as one of the key tactics (which could be countered) Demasting was one of the main tactics from small action to large 50-60 ship battles We have no desire to fight with your brain pattern, but please STOP posting your ideals as facts. Say it as it is: you hate (dont like) demasting, dont say its unrealistic and it never happened. ps You can counter demasting making it impossible, but you dont want it, because of that brain pattern. Learn to overcome it Captain and you will do better. Equip upgrades to masts, speed does not matter since couple of last patches. 4 mast upgrades slow you down but make demasting impossible, you will enjoy those battles immensely - laughing when enemies spend half an hour trying to get your masts down while you sink them all.

Hi all. We are back from the holidays - happy new year!!! A Port trading within the round Nation that abandons the port loses 2 points + loses control points Nation that wins the port wins 1 point + wins control points So if a nation captures 10 ports and then abandons them to their friendly nation who in turn will get them back (to farm battle points) they actually end up with less points than they started with. Nation A captures +10 points/ Nation B abandons -20 points = net - 10 points Nation B captures + 10 points/ Nation A abandons - 20 points = net - 10 points Verdict: Trading Inside the round - impossible B Port trading across several rounds Across several rounds port trading is possible, and is historical. Trading region a for region b was done historically and is allowed. This makes port trading across several rounds possible BUT Its only possible with the complete inaction of other nations. Enemy abandons 10 ports - do not sit on your ass or on the forum. Do something. If they abandon them for the enemy- take them for yourself, set the timers, ask the americans to help etc etc etc. Also if all other nations are inactive - you don't need to trade - first 3 spots get the rewards now. Verdict Not an issue. Region trading is a historically possible and plausible feature and if your enemy abandons 10 ports your should take them in game - not on forums. discuss. -
Как бесполезную трату времени превратить в геймплей.
admin replied to Amihai's topic in

no plans for that. Hostility is raised in a window set by defenders, so defenders can try to react and get it down by PVP. Hostility grind is not really tedious as 3 groups can set the pb in like 15 mins to 100% for any port. (in eve online you have to grind for days) -

Majority your statements are not true (especially bellona being best closed haul runner). Pavel can be killed in a Snow (HMS Ontario). One of the statements is true. Great ships can be OP especially in the hands of experienced captains. Bellona is an awesome ship; 74s were most numerous ships in the Navy for this exact reason. But its not the best close hauled. Best ship closed haul is the privateer and lynx.. ….. this post turned into a clown show with captains just throwing random shit into the air without any relation to facts or reality (like reload depending on ship class) topic locked

that statement was completely not true
-
Never happened. Please stop posting incorrect info and confusing players. Reload depends on guns and gun crew and it was always like that.

Getting a first rate in PVE
admin replied to Micromagos's question in Feature proposals and Gameplay Help Q&A
In PVE (pve server) you can get a first rate by just capturing it from NPCs, buying it from other players or buying permits for combat marks and craft it yourself. In PVP (pvp server) you have to use pvp marks or victory marks to acquire a permit, you can also capture it from other players or just buy it for gold from other crafters -

Yes it decreases. the amount of leeway needs to be tuned of course. Current leeway might be too high compared to combat reports maybe you can share more reports like the one on wasa here for better tuning. -

I think everyone already knows we are not doing this for the money. You can judge it by the patches. We just want to make age of sail as beautiful as it was.- 187 replies
