Will there be a player to player/player to npc trading on the open sea?

Lets say, I defeated a ship.... took all gold and loot and took command of another ship.

1. What do I do with captured boat? Can I capture ships?

2. Can I sell loot to a trader npc who sails by or can I offer it to a player?

Thanks.

I would like to see ports be the communications hubs, so if you fight at sea and capture a ship you would sail with it (damaged) to a port and either sell it and any cargo or have it repaired, recruit a crew and add it to your squadron. You should not be able to do this at any port and some ports would arrest you on sight and confiscate your winnings for various reasons (nation owning the port, etc). There could be some mostly lawless ports where anything could be traded but having to take a damaged prize quite some distance over the open map to such a place could be a risk.

So you can't just trade with another player you meet at sea, deals would be done in ports.

Without player avatars this would probably best be done with a different lobby area/chat room.

what about repairing(jury rigging)  and sending defeated (unable to combat) ship with part of crew to nearest friendly port, and then repairing outfitting getting crew, provisions etc? u know making ship battle ready

The inclusion of economic and manufacturing sectors has been discussed internally. It is more-or-less agreed upon that adding a player-driven economy with the inclusion of resources, manufacturing, looting and bartering would enrich the game and give players a great deal of extra content to enjoy, break and utilise.

There is no decision on how an economic or trading system will be implemented as yet. Currently, the goal is to iron out mechanics involving combat and sailing - arguably the most important mechanics.
