jbchristen Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 (edited) I find the Brig to be a bad ship it rolls so much at least for me and makes it impossible to aim and give's the enemy so much free shots off. Edited February 4, 2016 by jbchristen
Ronald Speirs Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Do u depower or use battle sails, even manual sailing and turning them can help heel ur ship into getting shots off 1
NiMiTz Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Slow down and aim. Never rush your shots. I seem to do fine in a brig.
Lord Snot Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Yeah like people said above, 90% of the time depowering your sails (T key) will stabilize your ship so that you can aim properly. Of course there is the occasional wave that will rock your ship and makes you miss, but that's Naval Action, my dear. 1
maturin Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 There are also Optimized Ballast modules. I don't imagine they're too difficult to craft.
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Put the masts in neutral deflection before you aim( straight angles ). The roll effect will be highly reduced. Keep an eye on the sea.
Finwolf Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Navy Brig is best in tier... Statistically almost identical with Mercury, but has the rear guns I find sometimes very valuable in a tough fight... So yes... Brigs/NavyBrigs are gooooood... - Finuc - 1
LordBeer Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 I enjoyed sailing my Brig. I haven't used it since I ranked up enough to use a Niagara, but I still keep my captured Brig in my outpost. As other have said, depower the sails or reduce them before firing. You can see the AI do it in battles, and it really will help you in a fight. 1
kapteinsortebill Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 Fire single shots, at least in the start of your game. Its sometimes easier to cope with the influence of wind/speed then. Wait with the full salve until ure quite close.
Capt. Rice Posted February 4, 2016 Posted February 4, 2016 De-powering your sails is really great if you need that quick steadiness for your shots.

I guess I owe you one. 1
Capt. Rice Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 another tip that can help is that if you are in a death spin with and ai using your f1 key to disable the other broadside that you are not using will help the reload speed of the other side that you are using.
Kurshuk Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Depower sails - T Manual sail control - F Front sail left/right - q/e Rear sail left/right - z/c Can doubletap qezc and lock sail to full left full right like rudder. I'm no actual help with actually manually adjusting. I seem to manage to trap myself in the wind and get chipped to bits while also missing all my shots, but those are the keys for it. another tip that can help is that if you are in a death spin with and ai using your f1 key to disable the other broadside that you are not using will help the reload speed of the other side that you are using. HUZZAWHAT? Now I'm sad I'm trapped at work and don't have a GFX card that can crank NA here. Looks like it's time to upgrade my work comp... ;-)
jodgi Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 another tip that can help is that if you are in a death spin with and ai using your f1 key to disable the other broadside that you are not using will help the reload speed of the other side that you are using. No. It's being discussed here and there, but disabling one side will not accelerate the other.

Does that actually work? Edit: Nevermind Read jodgi's response. Edited February 5, 2016 by Remo
Tindahbawx Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I gotta agree with the OP here, I'm not much of a fan of the Brig either, for its tier the Snow if just far better, and runs rings around it while punching harder. the Snow has a bit more crew too, so its better at boarding actions, and on top of all that the size of the actual models is vastly different, the Brig absolutely towers over a Snow, so you tend to get shot up more easily in the Brig, just because you're a larger target. I'm not sure in what situation I would ever recommend someone get a Brig over a Snow.
Benass Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 haha. Try surprise. at 90 wind u will be shooting birds. I hate that ship so hard. It rolls so much. Working sails is the only way i can get around the problem. I need to grind 20 000 k exp in surprise with such a roll.
