Admiral 8Q Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Capturing premium ships sounds fun. Spoken like a true pirate. Haha!
Hyperion74 Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Kind of a tough subject to broach. There is a contingent who think that premium ships will be pay to win. Another that think it doesn't matter. I just want to try different ships out and I can maybe play for an hour a day on my work days so grinding is a tough option for me. I really want to sail a Consti and I really want to see a broadside from a first rate in one way or another. Who wouldn't want to with these awesome graphics. Lots of us just don't have time to grind or are on when the ship builders are selling or taking orders. This was a big problem that I had with that other game.(potbs) Don't have an answer to what ever problems that premiums will create. I would just like to have a cool ship that can't be lost. I do kind of look at the model for DCS. Once you pay for a plane, it's yours. Oh, Game Labs, don't make the Prems too expensive. 3
drogoran Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Why not? some people think anything you can buy with real money is pay to win thats not even joke i once had a guy tell me items in a game were pay to win caus they were better than the starter crap
Hethwill, the Red Duke Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Hopefully only after all the testing is done, all the roadmap is traveled, all the mechanics are in place and fluid. Basically on a unknown timeframe after release version.
Bixol Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 What most people tend to forget: a premium top frigate doesen't have enough crew kf you hust started the game You can't reduce the "grind", you just will be able to get a special ship that can be outperformed by player made mastercraft ships Also if I remember correctly admin stated several times that premium ships would be expensive to mantain/repair, therefore you wouldn't sail them everytime This way i don't see anything wrong with premiums
jodgi Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Look at yaht. Is it game breaking. ? I hope one day to get Premium ship Similar to Constitution. I would dive head on into pirate invested waters and sink all day long, but have fun on my way down to Dawy Jones Locker. Redeemable ships will not break the game. They will add more to pvp world. Make ships expensive = no pvp. Only ganking squads. U go hunt other ppl and for 5 hours u have no pvp. only run away encounters. Y that is a good game play. Make a ship cost 300 000 and no one will pvp in it. Take a POTBS. First rates did not see pvp what a waste. Take a look at World of tanks. Lowie did not break Game. It give developers funding, it gave players Fun. I tell you. Yacht system redeemable ships with few durability's and 48h cooldown is a way forward. This is what I think the biggest downfall of this game will be. It's going to be the same crap as Eve Online where nobody in their right mind is ever going to engage in a fair fight, just a lot of running and chasing to set up ganks. The best skill based combat mechanics in the world don't mean crap if the only people who will ever fight it out with you are the no lifers that can spend all the extra time grinding for gold. This is just beautiful to read! I got a crush on Benass and Aetrion. I feel the same way. I came for a fighting game, I've forced myself to accept the eco part of it, even if I think it's a major pain. Some people like that shit! Who am I to judge? There is a growing sense of desparation with this for me, though. Eco and glorious PVP seems to be mutually exclusive. I see premium ships as a small scale possible emergency fix for PVP lovers. Then the eco guys can abuse themselves with that drudgery they profess to enjoy, while we go out actively looking for- and giving others fights. I wish I had a plan that didn't include paying for the PVP experience. But with the way the eco guys talk on these forums I can't come up with anything. It's all "Take away this, take away that, take away teleport, take away deliveries, make PVP cost and no carefree fighting fun for you!" If you know some other way out, please share! I'm just a frail brother who is scared he's losing faith. 1
Benass Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 Give ppl different ways to play. The more ways to play the game the more ppl u will have. Ppl tend to fall into groups. Cater for one type of group, others go away. Cater for more types and u get more ppl. Balance is crucial, but with right mind and attitude alot can be done. In the end of a day, u cant make every one happy. But u can try.
Balsafer Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 To be fair, the amount of work it takes to build a battleship in Eve has stayed constant, the fact that they are selling for more is only an indicator that the money supply is up. Still, Eve is ultimately a space tycoon simulator. It's not about who shoots better or flies better, it's about who can throw more fists full of ISK at you. Same effort yet cost more, sounds like real life economy lol
Blood Eagle Posted February 8, 2016 Posted February 8, 2016 I'm ok with prem ships but don't think they should be perm ships. They should have durability just as other ships do. 1

Tremor Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 Premium ships should equal to purple ships not to golden. But if they only equal to blue no need to buy them. (except the have infinite durability and no need to redeem again and again) They should not have higher repair costs.(If they are so expensive no need to buy them. or if they are so expensive the must equal to golden) If they are gone after 5 deaths : Thats a no go. If they are only BluePrints that must be craftes : no go Be honest : When you think PREMIUM : do you see grey, green, blue ships that are gone after 5 lives ? I dont think so.

I came for the PVP, sure an economy can be fun, sure open world can be interesting, but I came for the thrill of battle. Ideally the developers find a sweet-spot where people won't be so afraid to lose their ship that there isn't any fun/risky combat to be had. To compare, while I find EVE online an awesome game from a theoretical point of view (player freedom is yay!), it's also a great example of how combat can become an absolute bore when it becomes less about skill/tactics and more about who can throw the most players, ships, and ISK into a war for victory (although, all respect though those who find such logistics wars fun, it's certainly become an art in and of itself). However, it's a good example of how to make many players hate PVP due to loss aversion. Edited February 9, 2016 by Gunnar Rask
Hyperion74 Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I would still like to see a DUEL option. That was fun in the other game. Please tell me if there is one that I don't know about. Just imagine. 20 ships just beating the crap out of each other just for the fun of it, using ships that don't go away. 1
Gunnar Rask Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 (edited) A duel option would be really nice for us newer chaps/chapettes as well. Given that the game is in Alpha I'm less concerned with gaining rank or gold and more with testing out combat and learning as much as I can (which is something duels offer in spades). If there needs to be a RP explanation, then it can be described as Captains getting together to have a mock battle (via a handy paper map). Edited February 9, 2016 by Gunnar Rask 1

Ruthless4u Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I hear World of Warships is a good game where you get to do nothing but PvP. Hard to believe but some of us want a little more to a PvP ship battle that does not involve the knuckle dragging fest that is Wargamings idea of fun.
jodgi Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 Don't you ever tire of trying to chase me away? I'm in both ships and tanks, but the fighting in Naval Action (when it happens) is just so great so you'll have to deal with me and my politics.

You misunderstand, why would I chase away such a cherished pillar of this wonderful community? Without you we wouldn't know what to do.
