I require some technical clarification on some key points.

1) When firing my cannons, if I adjust my aiming bar (little red bar) do the cannons follow that new aiming point during that volley?

2) There are two aiming and firing choices (V) and ®. Could someone explain to me just how and why these are used?

3) Are upgrades cumulative?

4) Are there upgrades that you feel are far more important then others...why?

5) How does morale work in grappling, ie. How is it reduced?

Thanks, I hate to be a nudge and I believe #5 question could have been answered if I had stayed in the YouTube video long enough, but since I was asking...

For #2 I can answer that (V) controls how your cannons fire. There are several options

-Rolling forward - Cannons fire from the front to the rear of your ship

-Rolling Rear- Cannons fire from rear to front of your ship

-Random- Cannons don't fire in a predetermined order, but as the name suggests at random

1.  No, if you have hit the fire button, the shots will go at whatever angle it was at when you hit fire.  Turning your ship will affect it.  I do not think waves or turning yards after you have fired affects the angle.

2.
V is rolling broadside or random broadside.  Random fires the guns randomly.  Rolling fires each gun in succession (in a row) starting with either front or back, whatever you have it on.

R is the convergence of the guns.
This is my understanding

  • Locked Sector Focus Auto fires the cannons straight forward with little to no convergence.
  • The Unlocked Sector Focus converges the guns to point at a narrow spot.
    • Unlocked Sector Focus Auto converges the guns to a distance based on the red aiming line (this is what most people are typically in and it is the best way to learn gunnery and the aides in this mode give the best help).
    • 100m converges them to point at a narrow spot at 100m,
    • 250m converges them to point to a narrow spot at 250m.

Be aware that if your red aiming line isn't pointing at the 100m or 250m spot, the guns will fire to where your red aiming line is, but the shots will converge at 100m or 200m.  This means that if you are aiming at 1000m out, and you have it on 100m convergence, that the shots will converge at 100m and then spread out until they hit the water or the enemy ship (you are unlikely to hit the enemy ship)

3.  Yes, though you cannot stack modules with the same name.

5.  Moral is reduced by damage to the ship and crew.  In boarding, it is reduced by casualties.

About as solid a response as could have been hoped for...thank you.

Based on what I've seen, I do not believe waves affect cannon aim after you've hit the fire button.  A number of times I've had the ship pitch up sharply during a broadside, causing my aiming bar to jerk up due to exceeding minimum elevation, but still seen the remaining cannonballs fire at the original elevation.

Ya, that is my perspective as well.  I don't think the yards affect them either, but when I mess with those after shooting, it is usually because I am in a hurry and my attention is needed elsewhere (like needing immediate speed) and so I don't see the end results of my broadside, only that the first ones have hit.
