armyissue69 Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Allow trade ships (actual designated "Trade" ships) access to dock @ any port, since they are trading. I don't recall resources ever being denied the opportunity to trade in the age of sail. 2
thomas aagaard Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 Then you should read a book about the period. Blockading the ports owned by the enemy was the norm... it was basically done all the time during wares... if at all possible. And this was at the core of the reason for the British attack on Copenhagen in 1801... breaking up the armed neutrality League. A number of battles during he period was direct attempts to break blockades.
armyissue69 Posted February 2, 2016 Author Posted February 2, 2016 im down for blockading ports (especially if there is an incentive), but a non-blockaded port should be open for business.
Jacob van Heemskerck Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) This is what the Dutch did, "your ships can't haul cargo, whe wil haul it for you" the Dutch where so good at it, that England accepted new naval laws that only english merchants can trade english goods. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Anglo-Dutch_War Edited February 2, 2016 by Jacob van Heemskerck
Macjimm Posted February 2, 2016 Posted February 2, 2016 (edited) As an enhancement to this idea ... perhaps we could earn a specific type of Trader XP that will allow opportunity to trade outside of your own nation's ports. It could be incremental, limited by time or number of nations and increase with the level of "Trader XP" obtained. Additionally players can blockade any port to anyone.
