Launch date?

Hello fellow mariners,

 

So I've done numerous searches throughout the site and google but have been unable to find an actual release date. I've read the release information for the steam release but nothing further out.  The only reason I ask is I have a group of friends that enjoyed PotBS and Uncharted waters and would love to play this game also but are hesitant to pay to test the game. I realize this is a new trend now to avoid putting most of your money up front but I see their point also if for some reason the devs pull the plug on the project. 40 bucks for close beta prior to release is more convincing but I'm not sure the timeline on when that may start.

 

My apologies if this is stated somewhere, my googlefu is lacking this morning.

 

btw: I am enjoying the game and didn't mind purchasing it to try it out, I just want something concrete to tell them is all.

I have the exact same question. Surprised I could not locate a sticky post from the devs with this information.

 

What is the release schedule?

If this is "alpha", will there be a full wipe and world restart for "launch"?

Some people are holding off on buying the game because they assume alpha means this is not the "real game" yet and they don't want to play before the official launch day reset.

It's already stable and running well. And being a MMO there is no monthly subscription! If You liked PotBS and UWO what are You waiting for?

If in doubt, watch some videos on YT or streams on twitch and decide...

There might be wipes of ships and gold, if needed.

But XP will not be wiped.

 

 

And the game is already way better then PotBS... (And i played that for years both in beta and after launch.. and on and off until that eco patch a bit more than a year ago)

There is no set launch date because the Devs wan't to make sure it is done decently.  Setting a launch date then go past that date is something they try to avoid.  In other words it will be launched when its ready. But like Costanius said it is pretty well stable currently and very much playable, just need tweaks here and there and added content and mechanics like crew management ect.
