Losing ships really is not that of a big deal, especially considering most people are sailing around in Basic quality ships, the gold to buy one is so easily earned.

And when you have your mastercrafted Cerberus are you going want to gamble it away?

Sure, if you're just transitioning through a ship on the way to what you really want it's not that big a deal, but I wouldn't want to risk my pride and joy on a fight that might turn out badly.

I would. If you cant unlock the next rank and move on to a larger ship before yoy burn 5 duras, your ethier horrible or super unlucky. Durabilities are meant to be spent. And anyone whos holding back to protect their assets, hasnt come to the understanding that the rewards in this game are plentiful, and everything is replacable. (Except exceptional marines, dont lose those! ) lol

It's not entirely wrong though, people here have pretty much decided "Durability is awesome, screw everyone who's here for the ships and not the economy". You're never going to see just how many people would prefer a game where losses were less punishing if everyone who mentions it is instantly told they are in the wrong game.

They were outnumbered, two cutters would tear up a snow or brig if they have carronades, also cutters are manuverable than said ships specially against the wind. Fore and Aft ships are notoriously difficult to hit.

There you have it a very good reason as to why they decided to leave.
