Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 I've spent the last hour joining games, and everytime someone sees that a player joins, they just disconnect. WHY PLAY PVP IF ALL YOU DO IS RUN AWAY?! Look at this! 2 snows and a pickle running from some cutters! Why even play pvp if you don't want to fight players?
SteelSandwich Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 could be several reasons: they spend their repairs, they were damaged, they were outnumbered(obviously). Or: another, more interesting baattle, started friends were in need of help more enemies on the ow coming Do you want more potential reasons? 2
Harry White Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 You will find with time, half the battle is catching your prey.

Only non of these "reasons" never applied to the enemys as the battle literally just started and they ran away
SteelSandwich Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Only non of these "reasons" never applied to the enemys as the battle literally just started and they ran away How is 5 players + 3 AI V 3 players not being outnumbered?
Galileus Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Only non of these "reasons" never applied to the enemys as the battle literally just started and they ran away Did you initiate the battle? If so, it's your job to position yourself between your prey and it's running path. Or maybe just ask them nicely to stay where they are and let you sunk them. You never know, maybe it will work?
Spitzenhund Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Maybe because they didn't feel like wasting their time on cutters?
Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 How is 5 players + 3 AI V 3 players not being outnumbered? 5 basic cutters > 2 Snows and a Pickle Maybe because they didn't feel like wasting their time on cutters? Getting free money is a waste of time? Did you initiate the battle? If so, it's your job to position yourself between your prey and it's running path. Or maybe just ask them nicely to stay where they are and let you sunk them. You never know, maybe it will work? They attacked us. Stop trying to be funny and smarmy
Aetrion Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Because the punishing nature of actually sticking out a losing battle in the game makes it so people would rather be cheap and not give you a fight at all than stay and duke it out. 1
maturin Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Fighting a swarm of cutters isn't most people's idea of fun. 1
Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Fighting a swarm of cutters isn't most people's idea of fun. So why attacks us then?
SteelSandwich Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Well, you can see the order of spawning on your team, they attacked an AI fleet. I assume they didn't intent on fighting the AI as well as you.
Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Well, you can see the order of spawning on your team, they attacked an AI fleet. I assume they didn't intent on fighting the AI as well as you. The AI was our fleet AI
maturin Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Uh, you're seriously going to buy a fleet-full of AI and then complain when people don't want to PvP you? 2
SteelSandwich Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 If Elisabed Grog was an player, it was 6(+2 AI)v3 players. Are you seriously surprised that they run? wow... I asee Maturin kinda spoke my mind before me.
akd Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 No one wants to fight people in free ships who just ram and lose nothing. 3
Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 No one wants to fight people in free ships who just ram and lose nothing. Because you know how I play. Sure This game has a community very similar to undertale. It's just a echo chamber. Someone mentions something not positive, and they get swarmed by shills telling them how they are bad or it's their fault. Literally all i said is why play PVP if all you do is run. We spent a full hour trying to find players who didn't just run away, but that's our fault?
Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 Uh, you're seriously going to buy a fleet-full of AI and then complain when people don't want to PvP you? What does having AI have to do with people running away from a easily winnable battle?

We spent a full hour trying to find players who didn't just run away, but that's our fault? You have to catch the prey first. If you cannot catch the prey it is your fault. Get a faster ship and attack with proper intercept course. Some people will run from you even if they are in a bigger ship. You have to catch them DESPITE the fact they are running. Nelson was chasing Spanish-franco fleet for like 3 months or something and they still tried to escape to cadiz. And stop attacking the game community for trying to help you. 3
Triahx Posted January 31, 2016 Author Posted January 31, 2016 >Video games are real life Yeah with these forums. The Community isn't trying to help. Look at every thread where someone mentions something not positive. they get jumped on by shills. Telling me it's my fault we were attacked and they ran away isn't trying to "help"

We don't know why either. We can only guess what happened and we do so. And you get angry no matter what is said.
Aetrion Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 Realistically speaking most naval battles are about running and chasing, not about shooting, but let's be honest here, it's very hard to get an interesting match going if getting sunk is so punishing that nobody in their right mind is going to want to engage in a fair fight. Making losing the worst thing in the game just creates an anti-sportsmanship atmosphere.

Making losing the worst thing in the game just creates an anti-sportsmanship atmosphere. I pretty much gave up my Niagara because I could. I had 5 durability so I used some of that in stupid ways. Then I had a Merc. Again, 4 of the dura went away stupidly. Last one did not go away, as I gave up on the merc with the outpost I removed. Finally, I sail Cerberus. And yet again, I don't mind going into stupid fights and risking loss. i have 5 durability... before I eat all of it away my mastercrafted Cerberus will be ready. I would say loosing a fight is not that big of a deal. Especially since when fighting much stronger people, that lost durability will pay for itself.
Aetrion Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 And when you have your mastercrafted Cerberus are you going want to gamble it away? Sure, if you're just transitioning through a ship on the way to what you really want it's not that big a deal, but I wouldn't want to risk my pride and joy on a fight that might turn out badly.

Of course not! It will be sitting safely in a dock in New France while I crash and burn around in a stock Cerberus
