Lone Wolf Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 I have targeted 5 Trader Snows today and each time they spawn well away from me for the Battle, and then sail off without me ever getting near enough to damage their Sails with Chain! I am in a Yacht, and I have tried pressing the Attack button when I am next to them, upwind from them, downwind from them, but it doesn't seem to make any difference as I never spawn anywhere near them! What am I doing wrong? Thank you for any advice that you can give.
captain_andrey Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 Its not where you press the button its where you are when the 20 sec timer runs down. Trader snows run down win, so you have to be upwind of them so they run towards you and as close as possible on the open sea.
Lone Wolf Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 OK, so I need to position myself upwind and right in front of them when the Timer hits zero, I'll give it a try. Thank you.
Prater Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 No, you want to position yourself downwind, where it will run. Upwind is towards the direction the wind is coming from, downwind is going with the direction of the wind. So since the Trader Snow will run downwind, you will want to be downwind. There is a tutorial here: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7541-brief-guide-to-catching-traders/?hl=trader
maturin Posted January 28, 2016 Posted January 28, 2016 You want to tag them when you are close, but not too close. If you are a few shiplengths downwind, the quarry will spawn in the expected place, then sail through your position to get away. If the instance stats with your ships side-by-side or right on top of each other, you are guaranteed to get a glitchy start position with the vessels warped 400 yards apart in random directions.
Lone Wolf Posted January 28, 2016 Author Posted January 28, 2016 OK, thanks for all the info, it should help me to catch one of those Blighters!
