I've been informed you cannot change nation I think it would be a good addition in the future since I've already put in quite a few hours in the game thanks and don't want to restart all again thanks admins <3

Think again, if you can't see the massive exploit possible by changing nations.

If they put a big cooldown on it(month or more), it can limit the exploit possibility and help those players who stucked in an empty/wrong nation.

If all I kept is my rank I don't see the problem of me being able to switch nation i'd gladly give all my gold away ships away as long as I kept my rank.

oh sure, you can change to pirates. Anytime ;)

Other than that you cannot change the nation with a char you alreayd have.

You will have to create a new char.

And I dont think a nation change feature is intended for the future.

I saw a dev post on here somewhere that they are looking at introducing nation switching, but as you say with a long cool down (I'd suggest 1 month to switch to a nation you haven't previously fought for, or 3 months for one you have, and potentially a downgrade in terms of rank by one level).

Edit - found it http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/8574-important-warning-do-not-delete-your-players/

I dont see it as a bad idea but with some restrictions. Maybe a reputation sistem with some nations, like in port royale 2, to prevent go to a faction you recently atacked. When diplomacy be add players should't be able to switch if they are in a faction in war o go to a faction already in war.

I've said it before (and I'll probably say it again), one way to change nations could be to employ the pirate faction and crown relations, which was being discussed at the time anyway. Essentially, you would be forced to go pirate, taking massive relations hits with all other nations (especially the one you just left). Then the diplomacy part comes in; pirates could have special missions that aid a particular nation, or there could be active hostilities declared between nations (rather than the constant war going on now). Doing activities that help a crown or hurt their ally raises their opinion of you, and over time it becomes high enough that you're offered amnesty and have to sail to the nearest capital/regional capital to change to that nation, as well as pay a moderate "beaurocratic" tax. Afterwards, all other nations which are not warring with the defectee's new nation could add some --not all-- amount of relation back (no longer a "pirate", but once a pirate always a pirate to some).

The above would add variety, some sort of strategy, a way for pirates to leave their faction, and (with tweaking) would prevent rapid nation changing without taking ages to change.
