Robaroo Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Anyone know of any For Dummies crafting guides i can use to help me get into crafting? Looking for something simple for the first couple of ships that tells me exactly how many of each material is needed. That way i can just look at the map, travel and purchase
gozer Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 well, it'd be great to at least have some spreadsheet with crafting materials and production chains ... some materials are easy to find, other are used for bloody everything in ridiculously high numbers as either end product or part of another production (yes, iron ore / ingots, I'm looking at you) so I have trouble planning any production because I end up underestimating the needed materials. I looked at wiki but the page about crafting seems severely outdated if anyone knows about good list of the production chains I'd really appreciate it
Sir Richard Bolitho Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 I also tried crafting, will now wait until a chart etc is produced, just far to difficult/confusing at present.
poison Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 If you check recipes, you can create your own spreadsheet. But I'm sure someone around here has one laying around somewhere. Just not I.
VonVolks Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Personally to start out, I would just start acquiring key resources, and doing basic parts building to get your hand in. Buy iron ore and coal, and make iron ingots, buy logs and make planks, frame parts etc. buy fir to make tar, buy hemp, buy stone to make ballast. Here are some essential resources for ship crafting: Iron ore - LOTS Coal - LOTS Hemp - Quite a lot Fir logs - LOTS Oak Logs - LOTS Pine Logs - Quite a lot Stone - Not much TEAK LOGS -optional LIVE OAK-optional Just assemble a whole bunch of the above and then start making the basic parts, and simple ships. In the ship building tab, click on a basic ship, and it will show you the parts required for it (scroll down too!) and if you click on the part it will show you what you need to make that part. You can keep clicking through parts till you get to the most basic "ingredients" needed.
jodgi Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Edit: ninja'd If you're starting out, just get: Oak Fir Iron Coal Hemp Teak to offload oak needs for frames A little bit of Lignum vitae and pine And just start clicking.
Dante2153 Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 (edited) A Question, not quite off-topic: How many durability does a crafted ship have? Edited January 27, 2016 by Dante2153
Suenami Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 But the problem is there is no iron to be found !
VonVolks Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 Well that's a whole nother problem. It's why trade ships are important. ☺ A Question, not quite off-topic: How many durability does a crafted ship have? Normally 5 for the lower rank ships.
Holden Posted January 27, 2016 Posted January 27, 2016 There's some good info on the Naval Action wiki, although when most of the info I put in was from before the wipe (but should mostly be accurate). http://navalaction.wikia.com/wiki/NavalAction_Wikia
