Ealdwulf Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 So I played Pirates of the Burning Sea for a good bit (don't judge me) - and in that game I went France as they still had decent numbers but weren't the go-to faction. I rolled French in this game but realized very quickly that it is mostly French players (which is awesome), however as an American my French is not great. I didn't want to go US because it was listed as easy and I find our Naval history pre-ww2 to be rather boring. Basically I'm looking for a solid community, enough players I can understand and not the easy mode. I've thought about Dutch but the Russian player base turns me off, as I have no hope of speaking Russian or Ukranian in the near future. Any ideas?
AtomicTiger Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 ehm, iam playing as dutch in an german guild, there are some polnish ppl maybe russians but noone is spamming the Nation Chat, its mostly staying to english (sometimes ppl who struggle with english like u do with french take use of other language ) you may look up for a guild if u like to join one which is multi/english there is Dutch Antilles Squadron (DAS) which are recruting ALOT ppl from dutch playerbase which are multi lang..
mirror452 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Play for Sweden... Probably hardest faction in the game, and we need every man against the Danes and Dutch 1
theprof739 Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I play for the US faction, and I can tell you things are anything but "easy." Sure the area around Charleston is far away from PvP combat and filled with newbies, but you go 30 Minutes south and we are fully engaged in the northern Bahamas. If language is a barrier, I would suggest the US, or British, who of course speak English, but I'll plug the US again as it is smaller than the US and Pirate factions, though bigger than the rest. The Dutch are a good choice, they are friendly and many do speak English, as stated above. As far a US naval history, it's a underdog story, we couldn't compete with Britain sure, but even still we proved ourselves in the Barbary wars and in 1812. After that we even build a number of ships of the Line, but lack of warfare and the pace of naval tech made wooden SOLs obsolete for everyone after the 1830s. While we didn't invent the Irconclad, the use of them in the American civil war was their first trial by fire, and the developed he Monitor style of shp which would become an important step on the road to the Dreadnaught and post Dreadnaught Battleships. The US Navy is also proud to call Alfred Thayer Mahan their own, who's strategic insights and writings would become a profound guiding influence on naval strategy and doctrine would lead Britain, Japan, Germany, and the United states through the late 19th century and until WWI. Ultimately what you find interesting in History is, entirely yours, and I can't change your mind with this brief outline, but as this game doesn't rely on Historical knowledge, besides that of tactics, it's somewhat irrelevant. Especially considering there is a "nation" or pirates who can have First Rates if they want to.
Vivoune Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 I play as French and as soon as I see an english speaking person in the nation chat I switch to english. It's true it's mostly french speaking people, but most of us will adapt and speak english if needed, I doubt those who can't speak english won't try to support you any way they can.
Reitak Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 if you have clan, you can have there players with all nations and pirate? you play together or how it works
