Character Question

I had a quick question which I can't seem to find anywhere on this forum.

 

As for the current character limitation (only one character allowed), is this character limitation for the overall game, or one character per server?

One character for 1 account, your character can login into any other server and the xp and rank gained say from pvp 1 will be transfered to pvp2.

I'll wildly speculate but the same reason as in any other mmo. To make abuse much harder.

but i'd like to play with 2 different groups of friends both playing a different faction, i literally cannot do this without buying the game twice right now. in what kind of an mmo can you not make a second character?
