Fleet Durability Question

I've been noticing that my fleet ships have been losing durability points without being sunk in combat, and when one of them is sunk, the other loses a durability as well. Am I missing something or is my fleet bugged?

if you run from a battle without telling them to retreat they lose a dura..

 

But myself I see it too..  not sure but perhaps if they are very badly damaged there is a chance they lose a dura..

 

I noticed this myself, only one of mine has lost a dura but I don't recall one ever sinking..
