  1. 1. should land in battles be a priority?

I think it's time to consider the great benefits that having land in battles would add to the game

1. Tactical interest - there are so many interesting tactical situations and opportunities that having land in battles would bring up.

Imagine being able to escape from a rapacious pirate in a faster ship by cutting though a shallow channel behind an island - at the moment there is no escape the fastest ship wins. That is not tactics, it's just a numbers game

And how about trapping an enemy fleet against a lee shore?

2. Long term interest in the game - how many people will lose interest in the game after a few hundred repetitive battles? I feel this is where WOT falls down

3. History - very few of the famous historical battles were fought without reference to land

I feel we are really missing out on many interesting situations that arose in real life and also featured in naval fiction

Surely, this would be a whole new mechanic for the game would have to be invented, which in term means less development on the actual main focus of the game?

I would agree with land battles purely from a "I want it all standpoint, but first we need a better boarding battles.

I doubt we will ever see land battles in anything but abstract form if at all.

i believe their is already a thread on this and was discussed a few months back. about 8 months back during early sea trials their was land but you could sail through it :) so i know it's coming back it's just a matter of time

I think the original post is referring to land obstacles not fighting on land.

If so yes they'd be great and make for more interesting tactics

After misreading this and thinking it was land based battles I would really like to see it but not for a little while, for now there are more pressing matters but in the long term it would be wonderful to see some shallows and areas where small ships can go that big ones cannot

All teh bugs and UI (2016) -> Getting ships just right (2016) -> More ships (2016-2017) -> Nation/Trading stuff (2017) -> Boarding (visual) (2018) -> Land? (2019)

I'm all for it.

I think NOW is really the time of prioretize land in instances, Im starting to get really bored of the same battles over and over. The game would feel more "complete" and the gamer masses coming in from steam kinda "expect" this... If they get bored and start to critisize too much it could hurt the game, and further sales... I even think land should have been in before the steam release, and that port battles should actually be port battles and not the "placeholder" we have now...

I still think, like I proposed before, that Ultimate Generals II should be Napoleonic and have the option to interface with Naval Action like Eve has Dust 514.

Lol, really:p? I think the OP means land that you e.g can crash your ships into in a sea battle and that he's not meaning actual battle on land with troops and shit....

(I responded because maybe I tought you where a little sarcastic, If you really mean what you said, then im sorry for misunderstanding)

Actually, I misread the first post.

Isnt the game called NAVAL action?

And your point is??

Alot of you guys should actually try and read what the OP says, he clearly means piece of land in battles that e.g we could crash into, not land battles with troops cavalry and whatnot....

This has been something I have missed since the beginning, but have been patient, but now Im starting to wear out on the same "open sea" instances over and over and over again..

Earlier on battles did have land.. that you could sail true.

Step one should be adding land to port battles.
Then adding it to battles that would actually enter close to land.

Battles far from land should not have any.

I'd love to see some landmasses here and there - World of Warships has managed to make some pretty neat looking island maps that add to the strategy and "split second tactics". You can hide behind islands for cover, you can ambush ships in bulk coming around corners. And it just adds some variance to an otherwise rather wet map.

Of course the kind of map you get has to be in line with the kind of area you're in. You wouldn't expect a ton of tiny islands on open sea on your way to Bermuda. And you'd expect to see a coastline on one side near the US coastline.

From a post I made in an earlier discussion on scenarios, which is an example of why land makes it more interesting:

"Evade a blockading fleet to get safely in under the town's guns.   Involves running fast from larger ships, avoiding discovery in fog or islands, rounding the point of a lee shore, getting the most speed out of your sails (auto mode not allowed!), navigating a known approach channel where the enemy may find rocks or mines if he hastily follows you in...   Stern chasers may be the most used weapon in this scenario."
