So first time in a port PVP game after sailing around for a while and everything seemed ok... some questionable remarks in chat but not out of bounds.  Then near the end of the PVP battle some one calls me a pussy for no real reason.... In the alpha this never happened. it looks like opening the gates to the masses has had the obvious effect I expected and the helpful, healthy, community that I enjoyed will be drowned out for the depravity of the masses.

 

Ill check back in a few days but if Its going toxic this fast ill pass.

Sorry mate but its a numbers game. For every 100 games you increase the % of rude players by X amount. This is standard across all games.

You have to understand that humans by nature are hypocritical, self centered, ignorant, and anything but little parasitic creatures. This doesn't mean all humans are, but the masses yes. You have to just expect it, especially with the deterioration of society that is going on in todays world.

It's to be expected. Yesterday I've seen more than 1500 people online on PvP 1 server. If 95% of those are mature, polite and fun chaps that still statistically makes for some 75 people with the potential to behave like dicks.

So basically the problem remains the same (5% of immature users), but increases in total numbers as the playerbase expands.  Nothing dramatic.

Just report them and sink them. Have noticed a couple of idiots in Brit chat the last couple of days, but in general (and in battles) it has been pretty good considering. As long as the devs are tough on abusive language it should be ok, would be a shame for you to bow out due to one incident.

The Tribunal is active, sure.

But for chat profanity and the like please use the ingame report function.

At the end of the day it's just words, only you can choose to be offended by them. Myself I don't let someone else poor attempts to offend me dictate my actions.

Report the abuses mate

chat bans could be late but they are inevitable and will come. We were just extremely busy last couple of days to process them but they are coming!

these are good 3 tools you can use

 

1. Report function - report the player to internal system - reviewed at least bi-weekly
2. Ignore the player - you won't see his messages again

3. Disable enemy nations communications (in the options menu) to stop seeing all messages from other nations.

I'm so used to it after all these years.  I just block it out.  You're lucky it's not in voice comms.  Reminds me I was playing Mechwarrior Online recently and guy on our team dies and just startes talking and complaining for a couple of minutes while the rest of us are still busy deep in a skirmish.  We finally come out ahead and the action dies down and I have a second to think so I turn the comms on and say, "Shut the #$@% up!"

It's the first time in a long time that I responded to a whiner. hehe

Dude, the way the community was was never going to last, and it sounds like you knew it as well as I. As soon as the floodgates were opened, the assholes were going to start showing up. Just like in any other multiplayer game, you're bound to run into one from time to time. One can hope that this style of gameplay won't appeal to a lot of the real immature types, but we're bound to have some jerks end up playing this game. Hell, we probably had some before the game even released on Early Access. We just have to hope it stays at a somewhat acceptable level, i.e. not too many jerks.

Its funny because I did sink them and the little weasel snuck it in right as I was deleting out and the battle chat was gone. Is there a way to get the battle chat back to right click the name?

Hello Easyseal.   I seem to have avoided any acrimony so far.

Not being able to Chat is a mixed blessing ( tech issue). This means i can't team up with people at the moment but eventually intend to TEAMSPEAK at some stage. If we see you floating about on the enemy side please be assured that we will  blast your planks from your frames and all done with perfect manners.
