Which Ships in OW Are NPC Ships?

I have been searching through the guides and various comments and have not been able to find the answer to this question.  How can we teel which ships in OW are NPC ships and which ships are under player control?

Normally ship's under player control will have "[Player Rank] [Player Name] sailing [vessel]" whereas NPCs simply states the vessel

Thanks.  That was fast.  So, I need to pay more attention to the ID information when I click on a ship at sea.

Correct.

 

For example:
"Plunderer William Drummond sailing a Snow"

 

vs simply

 

"Snow"

[Dragonfire]
