Mored Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Hi all, i am wondering about the higher ranks and how many crew you will get. Until Master and Commander (Captain) its ok i guess, but then you will get only 60 crew members more and cant change ship really. The constitution for example is far far away and the trinco needs only 25 more crew members, so 60 is really a strange number (make it 25 will have the same effect or rais it to 450 for the constitution... same for the next ranks, you will not have enough or far too much crew and this is really enoying.
OlavDeng2 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) Could you be a bit clearer? When you rank up you will be able to crew the trinco, sure the max amount you can crew might be higher, but does that matter? only if you are going for a bigger ship, so i dont understand what are you complaining about/saying? edit: also, master and commander you should be able to fully crew a frigate unless i am mistaken, as the rank before you cant. Kokerpiraat Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I do admit the numbering for the ranks is a little strange at some points. But there is certainly a pattern you can find.
SteelSandwich Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Well, the system roughly works as followed: You sail ship A slightly undercrew Or, you rank up and do: Either you sail ship A fully crewed, Or you sail ship B undercrewed again.
LeeUK Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I think I understand the way he is looking at it, because I did at first, "Why are the rank crew limits so odd and inbetween the ship crew requirements", but when you think about the fact there are many more ships to be added to the game, all of differing crew sizes, these Rank based Crew limits will make more sense and will most likely change to suit what ships you should be able to fully crew and at what rank. 1
SKurj. Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) for example... at lvl 3 you get 130 crew, not 100% for a merc but enough to get by at lvl 4 you get 160.. well you can now sail mercs at 100% or the cerb at 82%.. thats no fun... at lvl 5 you get 290 .. so straight to frigate oops or is it 200 then 290... not much difference except you are stuck in cerb again until jumping to frigate Edited January 15, 2016 by John Wilkes
Benass Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Many more ships to come. Game is in alpha. This might change. But in the end of a day it is good to talk about it, it is the way to improve the game.
Elouda Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 (edited) There are a few places where the crew increases seem a little wierd. Notably the 200->290 jump, and the 500->800 jump. I think for the first, an interesting change might be changing the crew on the current 290 rank to 250 or 260, thus making a rank where the 'small' frigates like Suprise and Renommee actually make sense to play. Likewise, a rank between 500 and 800 would make the 3rd rates more useful. Edited January 15, 2016 by Elouda
