Questions about trading

 I'm still pretty new to this with tons of questions that I've no luck finding answers on the forum. So there we go...

 

1) If you could only enter your own nation's ports, then how do you obtain other national goods? Any peaceful way instead of attacking that specific nation's traders and capturing the port? 

 

2)Follow up question: Is that how it was like IRL back then? Everyone is on their own and no international trade was involved? I'm just curious how historically accurate this is, because I thought it'd make more sense that others could visit another nations to trade for their national goods.

 

3) Again, If we can't visit other nation's ports, why am I as a British seeing France traders sailing towards Kingston?

 

4) Am I correct to say that Neutral would potentially be the best nation for the most profitable trading nation? Since there's no limitation on visiting ports.

Trade only for money is nothing. Trade for more resources, ships and power is it. And so are neutrals for nothing. What will you do with your money as a neutral character?

Right now neutral is the best for a trading character, however the Neutral faction may not exist in the eventual release of the game.  I believe there is going to be more development in the realm of politics etc, but we'll see.
