It will be the British Empire that is victorious in the War of Magnum's Ear

Laughable for the colonials to speak of TREASON when they are a nation of betrayers to the crown. And it is said they are now working side by side with the PIRATE scum who prey on innocents.

LONG LIVE THE KING!

Total War! Bring it on to be honest I was online when there NAP expired and it was the American's that declared it was over in global chat while we would have been happy to continue the status quo TF defiantly were not. The truce was between TF, TDA and SLRN as I understand it and had an expiration date of 31st December at midnight or the wipe which ever came first. We asked if USA they wished continue which was declined. And now you are bleating about who started the war no phoney war here people you wanted it and now you got it stop bleating about time zones and get on with the job of war.

do not gloat over a broken mechanic, if we were able to set defense times for all our port before the change you would have none of our ports mate

It seems like some people in this thread are not understanding that this stuff is all just in good fun. The Brits are coming in massive groups and massive ships and taking our ports. That's fine. They are winning through force of numbers, and that is fine too. All of the nations that oppose them are essentially sleeping right now, and that will change. The Brits will always be the big Zerg, and I am happy to be fighting on the smaller side. :)

Indeed sir. It is a game after-all. I chose the British nation for its rich naval history and my own personal roleplay preferences. However, as an American in reality it was often hard to find a good fight as most the nations we were at "war" with were EU's as well. i look forward to continuing challenge and to bring the fight against you traitorous colonists!

Also, yesterday's port battle at Goinaves is a bad representation of the north american timezone players on British. We had quite a few EU players in SLRN stay up to help take back the port. :)

But we are having fun. And making fun of eachother in light forum banter is one of the definitive upsides of waging a war. I mean, you gents started this entire topic for this very reason.

And on this funny note, i fully concur with Snoopy: The US complaining about defence timers and coming to defend Les Gonaives at 11PM eastern / 8PM western time with 4 pityfull connies is hilarious. We certainly did expect your first rates that you brought to the battle of st. nicks three days ago (that was in a worse timespot for you and even that you could win easily), but even if you would grab crappy shop pavels you could concentrate on sinking at least one of our expensive first rates doing some real damage. That's certainly what the danes would do. But no, most of you did choose to PvE or afk. And yes, please remember that all this "this stuff is all just in good fun". Cheers, gents, and hope to see your more active on the fronts of war.

similar situation in every mmo sandbox i have played - there is always a difference in the balance of power that shifts depending upon the efforts and attitudes of the various factions of the player base

1. set your port timer windows to when you ARE online - many of your ports did not have timers - do not expect EU players to log in at 3am their time just for your pleasure

2. ally with other nations - takes some effort - but if the nations allied against England, England would be hard-pressed to own more than half a dozen ports

All Most of those ports were captured before the port timer window existed - so they're currently wide open at any time of the day/night. ;)

Not true... we actually made atack on les gonaives during timer choosen by Chustler..... they didnt defended bcs loss of durra was too high for them, what can i do to help them? Give them my own durras so they fight?

1. Our ports did not have timers - Why? Because we captured them all before the patch which introduced port timers :)  And don't expect US players to log in at 3am their time just for your pleasure.

2. Do you even realise what you are talking about? The British are allied with the Spanish, the French, the Swedish and based on rumours also a few of the Pirate Fleets.

- Even if the US, the Dutch and the Danes rallied together we wouldn't have the manpower to take on that alliance.

I enjoy our fights guys, i really do. Even the 5v20's that we have all the time :)

But i'm getting bored listening to you guys making it sound like it's all so easy..

And to the guys claiming we don't try to defend. Oh please.. I've already participated in 6 port battles where we had 5 or less players against your 20. We do our best and we fight to the death, even when the odds are heavily against us.

- Heck, we even tried to attack one of your ports in EU prime time with the few people we could muster.

- We've brought our Santi's to several of the fights but after a few 10v25's and such we realise that there is no point in us "wasting" santi's trying to fight fleets that are often 3 times bigger than ours.

Again. I enjoy our fights but i'm tired of the bull**** comments that i keep reading and getting.

Now let the war continue! Hopefully we will have more good fights before Early Access and the wipe! :)

Cheers..

perhaps an arranged battle in between our primetimes might be a good idea? because its pretty clear neither of us are gonna have good fights else and we should enjoy the last weeks before we can grind ourselves to death again

I think several arranged battles would be an even better idea! More battles = More fun. :P

Faulty to use Gonaives as an example, it was somewhat of a fluke that we had only two people online that had a first rate, and one of them had to log off just before the battle started. Quite often at that time of night we would have been able to match the number of first rates you brought (4, I believe). You definitely would have had more resistance if that were the case.

But yes overall Britain will always have the numbers, and it seems that even during our prime time we will be even strength. I never understand the mindset of an American citizen living in the U.S. who wants to play for Britain (yuck), but seems like you've attracted a lot of those.

We have many players on our side not playing until the wipe, but maybe you do too. It will be interesting how it plays out long term - I wouldn't be surprised to see the U.S. regain the type of rapid expansion we achieved once port battles were introduced, but I also wouldn't be surprised if we're relegated to the underdog role, picking guerrilla fights where we can actually find you guys on even terms. Either way we are up for it, all in good fun. Long live LIBERTY.

sure propose a time and number of ships and im sure we can work something out perhaps do the fight around la tortue?

Numbers fluctuate very much at the moment so let's do it more "impromptu"?

Eg: We have players online interested in an arranged fight - I'll throw you a message. And Vice-versa of course.

For now i think La Tortue sounds like a good location. I imagine we might have to find a new place soon though (Seeing as our frontline is getting further and further away from La Tortue) :P

i understand the frustration of the USN and its predicament in regards to numbers... It would seem the numbers in game are like the history of the time... I believe at its height in the napoleonic wars (including the war of 1812) the Royal Navy had over 500 ships and I believe around 200 of those were sols. Forgive me if the figures are incorrect. I think a large coalition of enemies would struggle to muster that many.

I do feel though that although banter and role play news articles are well and good! I can't help but feel that there is a bitter undercurrent that we shouldn't let get out of control, it'll just spoil a good community and so close to EA.

LOL  You saw everyone we had on.  We did not avoid it due to being fearful of loss LOL  We just had nobody on. :)  We have no fear of losing duras.
