Jon Allen Posted January 1, 2016 Posted January 1, 2016 Some of the ships in the game are geared toward specific nations. I'm wondering if that's reflected in the game as well. For example La Ronommee is a French-built ship I believe. Currently as a Dutch player I have seen it pop up as a ship for sail. Would that not be the case in any UK Port? Or, will the Constitution never pop up Willemsted (Dutch capital). I'm not talking about player-crafted ships. I haven't done enough sailing between ports in the Open World to really gauge this myself.

As it has been already said, back in those days, reverse engineering was a common thing, a good example is HMS Trincomalee and generally the Leda-class frigates (see more here - http://www.hms-trincomalee.co.uk/history/the-leda-class-frigate). In terms of immersion, lets say, all Dutch, Spanish, British, French and other nations Constitution you have already met are reverse engineered from the USA original ship etc.

The Dutch, for example, built tremendous shallow draft vessels, so perhaps ingame Dutch crafted ships (of all types) have 25% less draft. The French made exceptionally fast vessels, so 2% more speed for all French built vessels. Something like that. So far there is no indication that anything like this will ever make it ingame, which is too bad as it would add nice variation to an otherwise homogenous ship crafting experience. 1
JJWolf Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 It's an interesting concept but it would require a high degree of thought on applying correctly applying nation specific enhancements for each nation that appeases most players and then balancing to ensure each ship isn't overpowered.
