Justme Posted December 29, 2015 Posted December 29, 2015 Just curious as to the best way to go about it.
SKurj. Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 Need abit more specifics... a snow makes capturing any trader fairly easy, if you use positioning properly in the open world. It won't be much good and capturing a constitution tho...

admin Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 For capturing traders the best ship is the privateer or lynx (weaker but a bit faster).
Jon Allen Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I haven't tried this much myself yet but it would seem that long cannons are best for chain shot, which you'd want to use to take down sails before a capture. Not just a range advantage, the shot spread in a broadside seems to be tighter. 1
SKurj. Posted December 30, 2015 Posted December 30, 2015 I've done a lot of trader captures.. I prefer the snow, so far my quickest captures have been in it. In Open World ensure you are right on top of the trader when the counter hits 0, if you need to hit spacebar to reset the timer do it to help ensure good position. Load chain before battle, order your npc fleet to demast, and as soon as battle starts get chain into the trader sails. I rarely use ball, just usually chain then grape.
