It will be as hard as you make it for yourself.

If you do small time fighting/raiding/crafting/sailing you will have a blast.

However, if you desire to be leader of the navy, sail 57 different 1st rates, have a monopoly on spices and want to be major of 12 town, you are going to have a bad time.

Heck, might as well go pirate if limited to small time fighting as a solo player.

I play solo - and sometimes join fleets, never had a problem playing solo.

You are not limited by the game, you are limited by your statement of having only a few hours of playable time.

As admin said above, you can alway tag along and be part of a grander scheme.

Of course not , its your game lol.

I will be content with the raiding etc, not how I originally envisioned my time on the game but im not going to bust my rear for several months that I can lose in a few minutes. Not worth the headace.

Personally I have as much fun in a cutter chasing lynx's as I do in a Surprise chasing down Snows and Renomee's. and as much fun chasing down Trincomalees in my Constitution (or vice versa) as I do chasing Pavel's in my 3rd rate.

Sometimes I even enjoy hauling gold or logs or iron ore from one port to another.

It's all exciting or dull depending on your frame of reference and your desire to just enjoy it

Mostly I enjoy yackin with some like minded folks on TS3 .....

You can try playing NA as a solo player and most likely you gonna have an awesome time. But, if you meet a fellow captains, try to create some kind of organised team or just join existing one you will most likely have a fun time of your life. It is social aspect of this game that made me interested and made me "waste" (clearly good time isnt a waste) over 1k hours ingame.
