JimDandy Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 So I've captured a T Brig and would like to try trading but i'm a priate doesn't that limit where I can trade? or if I even can trade? Assuming I can trade is the process to buy goods and transport them to someplace that lacks them then sell? Any tips/pointers on this subject would be greatly appriciated.
Konali89 Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 switch nation:) trading as a pirate is like playing GTAV on windows 95 2
Prater Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 You can trade between Free Ports and Pirate ports. I would suggest selling the ship or using it to move resources to craft your own ships. Be aware that you will probably not make gold trading between npc stores. The real profit in trading is buying cheap from the npc store and selling at high markup at major player crafting hubs. Because of the low population, your success will be limited and the time put in high.
JimDandy Posted December 3, 2015 Author Posted December 3, 2015 This reaffirms my suspicions, just wasn't sure Thanks all
admin Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 Pirate trading is actually very lucrative But you friends might attack you. ps. lucrative because neutrals cannot enter pirate ports so all resources are yours for the taking.
William the Drake Posted December 3, 2015 Posted December 3, 2015 You're a pirate for bloody sake! Why'd'ye want to go out an' do somethin' so dull as tradin'?! Well the first thing I do with trade ships is sell them; they can usually fetch a pretty piece of coin, depending on their quality. Any cargo I get I stash in my warehouse and wait and see what price it can fetch on the market. If I plan on sailing to a new port, I take some with me to sell there. But i never make a plan somewhere else just to sell the goods. The thing is, trading is a bit more dangerous for pirates, as most trade variant ships have no cannon or minimal cannon, and, as a pirate, we are fair game for everyone to attack, including other pirates. Trading isn't often in a pirate's repertoire. Smuggling yes, trading less so. 2
JimDandy Posted December 5, 2015 Author Posted December 5, 2015 Yes I have discovered that farming traders can be much more lucrative by capturing rather than destroying. One haul netted almost 15k gold... learning something new everyday! screw trading Argh!
Challenge Posted December 18, 2015 Posted December 18, 2015 So, from a game viewpoint, what is the difference between trading and smuggling? You're moving cargo, all be it contraband, and selling it. If a pirate can't enter a regular port what would be the point? Does smuggling effect the status of a neutral? These may seem as basic questions, but I just bought in and I'm looking for a career path.
JimDandy Posted December 31, 2015 Author Posted December 31, 2015 Alas, smuggling is not in the game. As it turns out smuggling is in the game you just have to figure it out. I have acquired so many resources for crafting I could craft steady for a week if I had the labor or sell them at some of the low class ports that I frequent for a tidy profit (truth be told I've gone a little overboard with my purchases, my warehouse is a cluttered mess). I've become a Virtual Horder! I may need an intervention. Gripes!
VonVolks Posted January 3, 2016 Posted January 3, 2016 As it turns out smuggling is in the game you just have to figure it out. Do tell! The more info about the game the better! I was just thinking about starting a pirate character and wondering about exactly this sort of stuff....
GrapeShot Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 He's probably just running a 2nd neutral character.
maturin Posted January 4, 2016 Posted January 4, 2016 So I've captured a T Brig Did anyone else read this and think of a hermaphrodite brig? *hides*
Lymark Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 I'm a new player and would like to know about smuggling. Can't find such info at all...
Ink Posted January 6, 2016 Posted January 6, 2016 At the current stage of the game development there is no smuggling included, all references you might see is about making neutral toon thus you can trade in hostile ports
JimDandy Posted January 6, 2016 Author Posted January 6, 2016 Yes the smuggling I was alluding to was using a a neutral account, didn't mean to cause a stir.
