Hello all,

I've been following this game for some time but haven't actually put much game time in.  The UI has been really difficult to use and I just gave up for a game still so early in development.  But I am very interested.  Can anyone give me a quick summary of what's going on?  I'd like to hear news and plans and updates so I can jump back in when its time.

Thanks.

The UI is not hard to use at all at this stage as it has not fancy things yet:) But for a newcomer it might be a little overwhelming all at once i can fully understand that.

These are the plans for now: http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/7231-development-plans-until-early-access-release/

You can ask yourself this, do i want to jump in now and help testing and get myself some game-experience which gives me an advantage over newer players when it comes to early acces?

Konali is right, right now the UI isnt to dificult, sure it could use some improvements but should be easy enough to understand after just messing around with it for a couple of minutes

As for updates:

1.) The crafting system's in. Port battles are the next big feature in development, as I understand it. You should be able to find various threads about both systems around the forum.

2.) There was a patch just a couple days ago. You can read about it here. Probably one of the biggest things it added was clan/guild functionality. It also added some nice-looking graphical improvements, so if you want a look at them, you can check out some recent gameplay videos, starting at this post here

3.) The devs know that the UI isn't wonderful, and it seemed to me that they admitted that it was going to get worse as more gameplay systems are added in. I think they said they'd try to make it better once they've got more of the big features implemented.

4.) As for ships, Brigand's chart here is still pretty up-to-date, but you can read my post here for a (possibly) more in-depth overview of what's in development.

I want to participate and am interested, but there are only so many hours in a day.  My gaming time is already split among several interests and its hard to get motivated to play a game that's not close to finished, will still get wiped, and so on.  That's why I'm hoping to hear news and plans and updates so I can jump in sometime in the near future.
