Captiva Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 I entered a battle recently and this is what happened. I was surrounded by about 5 ships. I was in a Santi. All of a sudden a ship that was of the same nation as mine, and also in a Santi, is sitting along side me and starts firing and doing battle against me. None of the enemy ships were firing at him even though he was not of their nation (again, he was supposedly a friendly and flew the same nation flag as me). Is this what they call ganking? If so, how is it done and are there plans to try and eliminate this style of gameplay? Thanks
Horatio Cornblower Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 (edited) Would this not make the friendly who attacked a pirate? I was under the impression it did though I am still new to this. As for what s being done to stop it well I would assume nothing towards "Ganking" as you were effectively attacked by a fleet though the blatent team killing is an issue. BlueEagleGER Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 May I ask what recently means? Since last Friday we have a total wipe and everyone has to start again, proably even with a small amnesty, however: Thats no ganking, that is friendly fire, a tribunal offence and severe douchbaggery. Ganking is, when 2 or more enemy players hunt you on the OW with better andfaster ships and start a massivly onesided battle. Cornblower, it did not make the player a pirate instantly, because the described ship joined on Captiva's side first before firing on the ally. It does make players that do a crap ton of friendly damage a pirate after the battle. (I obviously never "tested" this)
Horatio Cornblower Posted September 13, 2015 Posted September 13, 2015 Ah ok, still getting to grips with everything, could be something the devs should maybe look at in due course.
Balsafer Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 You should not be in a Santi already since the game just did a wipe...
BlueEagleGER Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 "Recently" still can refer to last Friday, Balsafer. Captiva, when did this happened?
Spork Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 From the description it sounds like the player that attacked you knew the wipe was coming and so ate the penalty of being turned pirate because it would be of no consequence.
Captiva Posted September 14, 2015 Author Posted September 14, 2015 It happened around a week before the lastest wipe, which explains how I was in a Santi. I entered as a pirate, as did the friendly who took me down. What perplexes me is that none of the "enemy" nation ships fired on the other pirate. That is why I was wondering if this was what they call ganking.
BlueEagleGER Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 Members of the same team are not allowed, no matter which nation they are playing for. You are requested to report any sort of deliberate team damage directly ingame and this behaviour described has a very low tolerance here. Did you take screenshots?
jodgi Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 It's a special little exploit the Rakers use. We jedi-mind-trick the AI and gank. It's because we are low moral fiber persons. Also, Illuminati.
Spork Posted September 14, 2015 Posted September 14, 2015 You're the Illuminati? Man I should've joined the Rakers some time ago.
