Could they not give this to us AFTER the wipe?

It could help more people get back on their feet and it couldn't be abused. If a player goes for exp they can't buy a ship to sail with crew limit.

The gold could buy the ship but the player would have to lol up to sail the ship they buy.

Just saying that it makes more sense.

From a testing standpoint it makes more sense not to. They need to see how the economy builds and flows in a natural state. Giving us all mad cash would, by definition, change the variables involved. 

 

Plus, it allows them to see how quickly people can move up the rank/ship chain, which is important for balancing purposes.
