BlueEagleGER Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Ok, nice and short: I am about to visit Portsmouth, UK (obviously), what exept Historic Dockyard and RN museum should a Naval Action/ history fan be visiting when being around?
mouse of war Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 There's so much Fort Nelson artillery museum near Portsmouth Chatham Historic Dockyard in Kent and if tanks interest you Bovington Tank museum in Dorset then there is Hurst Castle, Corfe Castle, Porchester Castle, the Old Needles Battery, Carisbrooke Castle 1
Rikard Frederiksen Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 If you find yourself in London, I'd recommend visiting HMS Belfast, a Town-class cruiser of the Royal Navy moored as a museum ship in the Thames - fascinating to wander round it and the admission prices aren't too steep. There's also the Greenwich Maritime Museum, which has some very interesting pieces within. 1

Belfast is on the agenda already, but I fear there is no time for the NMM because I´ll be in London just to do sth before getting myself to Heathrow. Is the Isle of Wright worth a visit?
admin Posted July 26, 2015 Posted July 26, 2015 Don't forget to visit the store near HMS Victory, you can even buy a Luger there.
BlueEagleGER Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Trust me Admin, HMNB Portsmouth with museum, Victory and Warrior etc. was the reason to go there in the first place ;-)
