Cdr.ODon Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 This just a thought for the future: If another open world area was to be made, where do you think it would be/which locations could be used next? Which locations would you like to see in a theoretical future open world? Thoughts and opinions? 1
Ethan_Lysander Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I would love to see the English Channel, North Sea, and Western Approach's (Bay of Biscay). If the dev's want to create a slightly map than the Caribbean, they could do one map containing the English Channel, North Sea, Western Approach's (Bay of Biscay), and Mediterranean. 3

Yup 100% go along with this.
marecek05 Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 For me it would be an Indian Ocean area including Indonesia...
D. Federico de Gravina y N Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) mediterranean zone Edited July 9, 2015 by RAE_Cmdt.Cavero 1
LeBoiteux Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) 1) Terra Incognita, that is unknown, unmapped, made-up territories, for exploration. 2) Anywhere on earth : any Sea or ocean would do. PS : I may be mistaken, but I think a Xebec is in development... And that is a mediterranean sailing ship... Edited July 9, 2015 by LeBoiteux 1
DeRuyter Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 mediterranean zone +1 This area offers a lot of opportunities. You've got Tripoli for the pirates, and as noted ^^ the Xebec. Only issue would be capitols or starting ports for certain nations like the US or Sweden.
BlasDeLezo Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Las Indias Orientales. Philipines, Malasy , Papua, Jawa.....

Only issue would be capitols or starting ports for certain nations like the US or Sweden. But, we don't have to have the same countries on each map ! Moreover, having different nations on each map is one of the major strength of the idea of having different maps (besides nice landscapes) : - The Caribbean Sea : for example, USA, Sweden, France... - The Mediterranean Sea : England, France, Holland, Italian kingdoms, Barbary pirates, Ottoman Empire... - South Atlantic Ocean (Brazil, Africa) : Portugal... - The Baltic Sea : .... -... Hugh Latham Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 I was under the impression the final map would be world wide. There was discussion about the time costs of long distance travel from Europe to the Americas and beyond. If the map were to be limited by hardware constraints (sadly) it should at least include the North Atlantic, from the present southern map edge to latitude 65 North. It would, also, be desirable to include the Med for its diversity of geography and culture.

LeBoiteux Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 (edited) I don't know if it is still valid, but on the Steam page, three maps are said to be early access content... https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?l=french&id=259130636 Whether or not they'll be in early access (that isn't that important), that means that devs had at least 3 maps in mind... Great, isn't it ? Edited July 9, 2015 by LeBoiteux
Hugh Latham Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 Teleport will solve this I don't want teleport. I accept time cost as part of the equation.

Bart Smith Posted July 9, 2015 Posted July 9, 2015 All Europe - North Sea, Baltic Sea, Mediterranean.
Principe Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 I'm really stumped between North Europe or Mediterranean I really want to see Gibraltar though, that's for sure. I go with Europe though, if not then East Coast America should fit quite nicely.

HotDog Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 West coast of Africa. Imperial colonies still to fight over, the major trade route of the world and where the pirates of the carribean ran to.
Macjimm Posted July 10, 2015 Posted July 10, 2015 (edited) The Southern Ocean circles around Antarctica, and comprises the southern-most parts of the World Ocean. Home to frequent huge swells and many rough seas with similar magnitudes as the Drake Passage, what makes the Southern Ocean arguably more dangerous is it's far less well known. But without whaling ... why the hell would we be down there? Edited July 11, 2015 by Macjimm 1
