Thomas Cochrane Posted July 5, 2015 Posted July 5, 2015 This collaborative prices spreadsheet will shortly be taken offline. The new one will be hosted on a private Googlesheets documents. If you want access then you have to PM me or add to the bottom of this thread. To get access all you have to do is agree to update the prices from time to time (not just use it to take information and never update). If anyone wants to thing of a formal name for the org that is fine too. 5
SeamanStaines Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Me too. But I wonder if the prices are the same for each player and how often they change. I will take notes so we can test this.

Magnum Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Just what the Dr. Ordered. Perhaps a separate "page" for each Country?
Thomas Cochrane Posted July 6, 2015 Author Posted July 6, 2015 Just what the Dr. Ordered. Perhaps a separate "page" for each Country? Good idea - you want to do it?
Henry d'Esterre Darby Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Make a copy, change it, if it works well, make the same changes to the original. Done. 1
Thomas Cochrane Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 It's looking a lot better thanks to ampaholic for that - I've made it neat again now, but it's divided by nation and it now has coordinates!
Thomas Cochrane Posted July 7, 2015 Author Posted July 7, 2015 Can I be in sure anyone can! Just request permission to access: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tMZZcicpQ4APrlv9RrTLJqeKHtakdgKnpMDGsJratVs
SeamanStaines Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I just updated the spreadsheet. Its clear that either the prices change on a daily basis or different players get different prices. Plus as you sell stuff the price you get goes down. Initial thoughts are that the sell price is rather low in most cases and its going to be hard to get rich.

I think the trading will likely be changed otherwise it won't be very fun - if you want to go here and add some support to raising minimum prices the devs may notice : http://forum.game-labs.net/index.php?/topic/6103-suggestions-for-improving-trading/
Magnum Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 One thing it makes clear is that the Dev's will need to create some formula for "usage". Each village or town will need to be creating some things and using up some others. Example: Nueva Barcelona has access to lots of Limestone = so the price is always low, low, low for that. However they have no coal or Iron there so AS THEY USE UP the Coal and Iron that traders bring in the prices fluctuate over time. A little higher when supplies are low and a little lower when supplies are high. That's how it should work. 2
SeamanStaines Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I posted on the suggestions thread that it would be useful if we could hire multiple AI brigs so that we can form and escort trade fleets of our own. It would increase the profits and potentially give rise to some interesting combat as the predators try to hi-jack the merchants and we fight them off. Better in my opinion than hiring protection. 1
Vup Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 Do you think it would be possible not to overwrite the old prices? If we had past prices and quantities of goods, we could find out the price function by using econometric analysis and thanks for letting me join the project

If we had past prices and quantities of goods, we could find out the price function by using econometric analysis and thanks for letting me join the project In principle this is a good idea, but how would it work in practice? Also, You know that you can review all revisions by going to FILE > SEE REVISION HISTORY Maybe there is already enough data there for you to analyse.
