Principe Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 (edited) Hello everyone, Today I present you a growing concern of mine. I've been observing the forum as of lately, quite a lot if I may add, and well I noticed that TDA & SLR are quite a big clan/society/guild and I respect them for that, however I'm just worried that they might grow too powerful and consequently swallow any chance of small company/guild/society. I know it's NOT their intention but that's always the case for games like this; that professional guilds are always popular and they keep the game going, so a plus for that. Plus if it gets to a point where the guilds are too big, a burst might happen and we don't want that to happen now can't we? Also zerging might also happen in the future which is the main thing I'm concerned at, because I would lose interest if everyone's always in a zerg but here hoping that TDA & SLR won't let that happen. Just please keep in mind that in the future, try to minimize recruitment in a way that other guilds have a chance to rise up, whether as a future enemy or an alliance. That is all, thank you. OH and I do not mean this as an attack to TDA & SLR, quite the contrary in fact, I respect those two guilds as they are becoming a respectable guilds in my eyes. Edited June 29, 2015 by Principe 1
Prater Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 If you check our NA recruitment thread and our website, you will see that TDA recruitment is closed. However, in the future we might have to reopen to stay competitive. We have around 20-30 active players out of a roster of over 100, though a bunch of those have disappeared or decided to roll another nation. Also, all societies who are part of a nation should work together. So just because TDA is the largest US faction (for now), doesn't mean that Tattered Flags won't have a chance. Actually, right now since our recruitment is closed, the only US society that I know of open to recruitment is Tattered Flags. 1
Muinko Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 I think the community is doing an amazing job of balancing itself out, such as the example above of TDA closing their recruitment. I have also seen a trend Britsh/SLRN hemorrhaging players over to the smaller nations recently. We Danes have picked up 3-4 former brits in the last couple days and probably the highest profile switch of Death Simulator going over to the Dutch. It is going to be a while before players settle into where they feel like they belong. Everyone's different play style mixed with different time zones with keep plenty of Diversity in guilds.
nebsif Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 (edited) Large guilds usually provide more content to the individual player as long as they are organized - they are not a bad thing. On the other hand small guilds often turn into just another chat channel, deny their members endgame content and consequently burn them out "cause nothing to do in this game". If what OP fears does happen, I hope smaller guilds will be smart enough to unite into one instead of whine on the forums like it happens in other games.. Just felt like this had to be said ^^ Edited July 1, 2015 by nebsif
Principe Posted July 1, 2015 Author Posted July 1, 2015 Actually yes, large guilds provide more content but in the long run, it can be a bad influence to the game because by the 3rd year or 4th year if two guilds are the powerhouses then people/new players will be too afraid of joining other guilds making it obligatory to join the large guild in fear of their virtual lives. That always happen in MMORPG, trust me.

Just felt like this had to be said ^^ I guess I don't have enough experience to comment on this but I don't know how this would be the case that small guilds do this. Small guilds could also easily form into a confederation of guilds that work together to combat larger threats though, instead of having to all form into large guilds.
Llewellyn Jones RN Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 SeaLords virtual fleets is a multi national society who orignally formed some 14 years ago we sailed with each other and against each other in different nations over the last few years playing AOS AOS2 and AOS Privateers Bounty for the lack of a better game SLVF became dormant until Seatrials when one senior officer started pushing the RN part of SLVF hence the SLRN. The other fleets have not taken it upon the selves to reinvigorate their command structure or to openly recruit players into each branch of the greater society. Currently i don't see any other RN alliance forming i would gladly encourage alliances to form and look forward to it.
Principe Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Like I said, I'm not antagonizing big guilds, I respect them, just be like yourself, being mindful of the recruits and don't mass invite everyone and threaten them into joining, that's terrible for the community, I've witness this in MMORPGs, thankfully the guilds that do that usually blow up In any case, I'm glad that SLRN & TDA are respectable guilds 1
Llewellyn Jones RN Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 (edited) While our recruitment is open and will remain so at this time we are not actively recruiting thou we are actively guiding and assisting new players on start up by answering their questions about what to hunt ,what ship to buy next so on and so forth. It is then entirely up to them if they join us. Sea lords MFr MarineFrancias led by Admiral D'Orlean is open for recruitment. Also sea lords RSN Royal Swedish Navy is open for recruitment led by Tommy Claren Edited July 2, 2015 by Llewellyn Jones RN

It doesn't matter how many members are in respective guilds, as the game is actually Nation vs Nation. As long as at time of greater game challenges, Port battles for instance, everyone in small or large guilds has the opportunity to work together and take part I don't really see the issue with large and small guilds working together. 2
Scout Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 I think the guild´s are fine as the are but i must say i do not like that fights are open for more then 2 nations.

We do not know yet what role guilds will play in the game when implemented but i think it will be more substantial than you think. OPEN WORLD PROTOTYPE We are continuing development of the open world prototype. Naval Action will feature one of the largest sandbox maps in history of age of sail games. You will be able to write your own story by building the trading or military empires for their nations or guilds. Because game will not have levels or classes you will have full control over your fate and character development. Edited July 6, 2015 by scepo
Charles Caldwell Posted July 7, 2015 Posted July 7, 2015 I have also seen a trend Britsh/SLRN hemorrhaging players over to the smaller nations recently. We Danes have picked up 3-4 former brits in the last couple days and probably the highest profile switch of Death Simulator going over to the Dutch. We've lost no players to other guilds... it must be a Brit player thing! Also we have a limited amount of spaces left within the Fleet, when filled we'll halt recruitment. 1
